Default Pre-ordered!

Pre-ordered from buymobiles yesterday on O2 25.50 month (100 mins, 500 texts and 1gb internet) and free phone!!

Cannot wait to get my hands on this beauty, not concerned about the upcoming SGS3, IP5 and the rest, I'm sure they'll be awesome specs but I'm sick of my IP4 and i'm not willing to risk another Samsung with crappy battery life.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Nexus yesterday and although it was lovely it was just a little too big for my liking and it just didn't impress me as a flagship should.

Just thought I'd give my two cents

Peace

Hey Jase,

I'll be getting it on the 21.50 a month contract. It amazes me. It's such a good phone and it's free. The total cost at the end of the contract for me will be 516. For an iPhone 4S 64GB on a 21.50 a month contract the phone itself costs more than the total Xperia S cost (520) and then there's the total contract of 516 to add on. That's 1036 for a phone!

I don't usually let cost dictate the phone I get, but at more than double the cost for an inferior spec phone, it's an easy choice.

Can't wait for it. Were you given a release date or is it still early March?

Cheers

I have ordered the white version sim-free from Clove, with 4 NFC smart-tags included in the price.

I am looking so forward to getting my hands on this device. From some of the videos that I have seen the software, new Sony widgets and that pin sharp screen is to die for.

Ooh where did you find this deal? I've seen Fones 4 U doing pre-orders and Orange have it up for 28 per month (with free phone)

I'm amazed that they're doing this phone for such a cheap contract! I was expecting everywhere to have the phone for a minimum of 30 per month!

Hey guys and girls,
No, no date was given but from reading every review and watching all the youtubes, I have got 2 dates, either as late as mid March or from this article:

Sony Xperia S Price & Release Date UK Mobile Phones & Deals UK

it could be as early as 6 March!

If you haven't got enough of looking at vids and reviews then these are the sites I've been drooling over.

Xperia Blog | Xperia ion, Xperia S, Xperia arc, Forum, News, Tips, Reviews
Sony Xperia S UK release date and price

Angelus, how did you get it for 21.50?! Jeez that is cheap, I get a discount through work at Orange and Vodafone but not 02 unfortunately, I'm currently with T-Mobile and they stated that it would be around mid 30's.

Clove.co.uk are expecting the white version as well as the black week commencing 5th March. I hope that's correct as I have ordered the white one from them.

I ordered mine on the 28pm orange tariff 4 days ago and just got this email from P4U:

Congratulations! You've successfully pre-ordered your brand new Xperia S from Sony and you've also got yourself an abosutely free Sony SmartWatch!

What happens next?
Your Xperia S order has been processed and we've allocated a brand new phone to you
As soon as your Xperia S is in our warehouse, we'll post it out to you via Royal Mail Special Delivery
Expected delivery date is currently Tuesday 13 March. If there are any changes to this date, we'll be in touch via email to let you know as soon as we know
Please note that your Sony SmartWatch will be delivered after you've received your new phone. We'll send further details nearer the time about when you can expect to recieve it.
We'll also send you an email when your phone is dispatched, so you know to make sure you're available to take the delivery
In the meantime, sit back and relax knowing that you've done the smart thing in pre-ordering with us. We'll stay in touch with you until your phone is dispatched with the latest Xperia S from Sony news and advice about how to get the most out of your brand new phone as soon as it arrives.

Thanks again for placing your order with Phones 4u.

Well pleased. The watch retails at 100 on its own!

I got the X10i when it first came out and loved it, I was furious when the 2.2 froyo update kept on getting delayed but it got sorted in the end! What made me buy Sony again was their customer service.

About 2 months ago the phone started playing up, I phoned orange who said there was nothing they could do as it was outside of their warranty. But what I didn't know was all sony phones from the xperia on, come with 24 month warranty. I phoned sony sent the phone to them by freepost and it was back as good as new with a whole new front panel in 3 days.

This and the camera is why I am buying Sony again.

I saw that p4u offer but I didn't want to cancel my buymobiles pre-order and then not get the free watch, I'll stick with them for now and think about getting a smartwatch later, there's a few about now

Just ordered the white one from clove. Don't really know if I prefer the white to the black but what the hell!

All my other phones have been black so due a change.

If it looks too girlie then I will just be in touch with my feminine side!

Ordered the white one from Clove too. I don't see the white one looking that girlie and I'm a bloke too. The black one just looks rather bland in comparison to the white.

don't be dissing my black Xperia S!

Seriously though after checking out many of my friends white ip4's, they don't work as a white phone imo. But the Xperia S, I have to admit if I had the choice now, I'd possibly choose the white. But since I'm probably going to keep the phone for up to 24 mths I'm going to be covering the phone in some sort of case anyhow.

I got a little worried about my S pre-order when Sony just announced the Xperia P at MWC. Fortunately it sits in between the S and U with a 4" screen and 8mp camera. I'll stick with the full spec S.

I have to say the Xperia P looks very nice with it's aluminum body and the new 'magicwhite' technology, but I still have no regrets buying the Xperia S.

Sony have announced that the Xperia Ion will be released in the UK. Although the specs are fairly similar to the S, a 4.6 inch screen is a little too big for me.

They possibly didn't know themselves and still don't know, when I used to work in a IT reseller we sometimes never got confirmed eta's for the new and upcoming equipment. I emailed buymobiles too and got a reply next day, just suppose luck of the draw sometimes.

Just on a side note, I'm very interested in the Huawei Ascend D Quad, doesn't look half as nice but the power (assuming the figures haven't been 'amended') and rest of the specs are very enticing.

The HTC ONE x looked very nice.. but the price and the camera lets it down.
The sony S looks fab , that and the screen etc.. + 32 GB all for under 400 quid.. cant go wrong!.. BTW buy it sim fee in amazon.de .. it's about 40 quid cheaper

Well, I just cancelled my pre-order for the Sony s and pre-ordered the htc one x. Couldn't resist, looks nice and released just after my birthday.

Still like the Sony s but horses for courses, prefer the HTC. Hope you all enjoy the sony next week on it's release!

Enjoy you're HTC, we'll see you in a few months after you've swapped for the Sony ;-)

HTC one is s powerhouse phone for sure, but in terms of design and looks it falls far short of the Xperia S.

ICS will be nice when it comes, but I don't get all the moaning. Personally I'd like an OS that has been around with enough time for all the bugs and issues to have been identified and resolved (iOS 5 made my iPhone almost unusable). I'm sure people will be moaning this winter when phones come out with ICS once Jelly Bean has been released.

If anyone is interest mobilephonesdirect have the Xperia S on T-mob for 26 now, states allow up to 8 days for delivery.

Edit. It shows the HTC One X on their site too, with a delivery date of 5th April.

exactly angelus me too its bound to be full of bugs on first release let them get it sorted first

thats a good deal jase-although i remember pre ordering my desire hd with them as they had the first release date-unfortunately they kept putting it back every few days so i cancelled in the end we'll see if they get it in-theyre claiming to be the first to have it on contract jsut like they did last time

The Sony Xperia S doesn’t differ too much from the Ion: it features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 12MP Exmor R camera sensor, and a 720p display, only here it is 4.3-inches in size. If it looks familiar, it’s because we have seen this... Read More
