Default XPERIA S Update in New Zealand

Hello forumusers,
I bought my Xperia S a view weeks ago in Germany from the German Telekom.
Now I am living in New Zealand and I would like to update my phone to ICS.
The ICS update already has been rolled out in Germany but I can't update my phone. What can I do to update my phone? Do I have to wait for the update in NZ? Will there be an update for NZ?
I know this is a really special thread but I hope you can help me.

thanks upfront,

cikn

Hi cikn, and welcome to AF

I've moved your thread to the Xperia S forum, as the people there should be able to give the best answer. In my experience it's the phone software (e.g. network branding) that determines the update availability, but I've only once had an official update myself (as I rooted soon after buying my phone) so don't have much experience with them. I'm sure someone here will be able to advise you.

hadron is 100% correct. It is entirely dependent on the network that the phone was made for and it does not matter which network you are using in New Zealand. Have you attempted to update via PC Companion at all?

The Sony Xperia S doesn’t differ too much from the Ion: it features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 12MP Exmor R camera sensor, and a 720p display, only here it is 4.3-inches in size. If it looks familiar, it’s because we have seen this... Read More
