Wi-Fi Hotspot
I have a laptop which is connected to a university proxy server through LAN cable. I used Connectify and created a Wi-Fi hotspot on my laptop and then tried to access Wi-Fi on my phone(Xperia U). I'm able to access Google Play on my phone using the Wi-Fi but unable to download any apps from the store. Neither am I able to log in to any other apps installed on my phone. I'm relatively new to all this stuff and any help is appreciated.
P.S. Since it is a university proxy server, the user authentication needs to be provided every time you try to access internet. But strangely, I was never asked for the user authentication on phone, and it turns out that there's no such proxy provision in Xperia U. By the way, my phone runs on 2.3.7 Gingerbread with build number 6.0.B.3.188.
Edit: My phone is not rooted.
