Cry Battery lasts around 16 hours, now discharges even when off

I got my Xperia U on 28th February this year. I noticed straight away that I needed to charge it every day. I thought I would just have to get used to it.

Now, it's getting ridiculous. I've turned every battery-eating app off, including wi-fi and gps etc. Now it's doing this mad thing where I switch it off at night with 40% battery power and it just flashes the red light in the morning when I try to switch it on! It only comes on when I stick it on the charger.

Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to go back to the shop with it?

By the way, I've just switched my phone on to go into the Battery Use menu. It says "16h 44m 1s on battery". Not possible! It's been switched off for the last 15 hours!
