Yea, remove or freeze NFL Mobile... that damn app uses a TON of power and data, even if you never load it. I froze "What's New' too... I believe it's a widget app that shows new sms and email, based on the permissions it has. You can probably freeze LG Keyboard if you're using an alternate like SwiftKey... I usually leave them, just in case.
What about sync service? I can't recall if that's acct sync or just sync for backup asst.

ONLY Freeze or Remove MobileCare Extensions 1.0 if you do not want to use Bluetooth. It will not allow it to start up or connect, or at least that is what I have seen so far.
When Uninstalling the Charging Wallpapers one of the packages brings up a FC. This will continuously pop up until rebooting. If you are connected "adb reboot" should work. Also if you hold down the power button it will bring up the menu to shut down. If you hit the Force Close fast enough you can also hit Power Off, this will allow you to hit OK to shut down. You could also always just pull the battery. After rebooting the app is removed and no further FCs should occur.
I will update more tomorrow on all that I removed and issues that I may encounter.

I've been going through the list and freezing apps. One thing I ran into was that I couldn't download anything from Market (or Play or whatever it's called now ). I did a batch defrost through TB and was able to update and download again. I'm not going through the list to see what I froze that caused the glitch. I'll report back when I figure what broke.

Ditto to that, and Titanium seems to be unable to restore it... It just spins and spins, but never finishes. I've tried force closing titanium and doing it again, and restarting. Not too important to me, as I don't use bluetooth, but three times a year or so. But I would like it to work then I need it. I think there will be a ROM for me to install be that happens.
I froze "home" two days ago and have not had any issues yet, I am using ADW. Although I have not been testing it, just using my phone.

Freezing home has worked fine for me as well, I have been using my phone with it frozen for a few days I am also using ADW. I have removed pretty much all apps that are on the list above (forgot my list to give you a full update but will let you know) as well as deleting the accompanying odex files from the system/app folder and have not had problems. I did have an issue with Navigation for Google Maps, but a market update for maps fixed that. I am going to be doing some more work on this and will update if I find anything worthy.

My two cents:
I would just freeze them. I did go through and uninstall a few of them and ran into problems with Market and Bluetooth. As long as they are frozen, there is plenty enough space on the phone for them to stay.

I would only freeze as well. If you remove you wont be able to upgrade to new firmware when its releases. All the stuff i listed was only froze and i will be updating the list as i continue to work on the phone. If anyone has anything to add to it please let me know so i can put it in.

Correct, you have to be rooted to freeze apps. Freezing will not help with charge time, but will help your battery charge last longer. It will also help increase the performance of your device.

Right, I meant charge life, I worded it wrong. So it's recommended that I root ?

It's only recommended that you root your device IF you know what you are doing. Root is one of those things that allows you to shoot yourself in the foot without proper research.
Think of it this way... You are given a Ferrari and told you can now drive it anywhere and basically change anything and everything on the car. That's what root does. It gives you absolute control over every aspect of your device. What you choose to add or remove can affect the device in both positive and negative ways. If you remove a critical file (and don't have a backup), your device is screwed.
I don't mean to scare you off from rooting, but I am a firm believer in giving good advice when I can.

very very sound advice, do your homewrok and research before doing anything
The advice about root isn't that true with this device. If you find it to be too risky, simply use the power/volume down to hard restore and it will wipe out root. Of course, if you're rooted, you want to be wiser about the apps you install, but I haven't found it to be any less secure.

to me the process was easy, and doing something to goof the phone up seemes pretty difficult. I also see somehting i have no clue about and dont touch it. To me it seems like you would want to put more emphasis on the posisble bad when advising about root, just to make sure its clear that root can be very risky is used incorrectly.

Actually that is untrue. The su binary and the SuperUser.apk are both stored in the /system partition which is not affected by the hard restore. Hard restore will wipe /data and /cache. That is why it clears the apps you download.

Sorry, Dan told me the restore removed root and all user data. Guess he was mistaken?

I guess it depends on which way you look at it lol. His root method puts a file on the /data partition that makes the phone think that it is an emulator and gives it root access through adb only. Using the exploit you can push the root files to the /system partition using adb for permanent root and root access on the phone. The phone thinking it is an emulator can cause problems of its own so that file needs to be removed. That is what he was talking about being wiped when you do a hard reset.

Freezing the music lilac app has caused problems with my phone. THe last time I froze it about 24 hrs later it caused my phonr to reboot on its own and locked at the 4g lie screen. I had to do a hard restart with the volume & power buttons.
Thanks so much for the list of Apps to freeze! This is the first time I have Rooted my phone and the first time I have posted to this forum, even though I have read almost every post three times to make sure I don't screw anything up. My question is...do you have a thread recommendation or could you post your top apps list. For instance, I noticed you froze the email app on your spectrum, what do you use to replace it? I have been using K-9 on my Droid (1) and its fine, but I just want the best apps for improved battery life and improved performance for this new phone (spectrum). Any help would be great! You guys rock! Thanks!
Battery life is really subjective, because it's based on the culmination of all apps you're using PLUS your actual use. So I could show X app works great and doesn't use a lot of juice, but you could have the opposite experience.
The main thing to remember is this: Apps only use battery if you use them, if they auto-update (like RSS readers or email apps) OR if they have widgets that update.
If you turn off auto-updating on email and reader apps, they'll use less juice and avoid widgets (stick to notifications from the app; it stores the app in cache, but doesn't run unless you're pushed an email) to conserve more power.

The only way to remove/freeze these is with the paid version of Titanium?
I use ROM Toolbox. I *believe* you can do it in the free version but honestly when looking at an app like ROM Toolbox or Titanium Backup it's worth paying for it for a number of reasons. One it keeps developers working on and improving awesome apps and two, it will be with you whenever you change android phones forever. Well worth the money, IMO. I purchased ROM Toolbox because I like JRummy and the work he does.

I bought both ROM toolbox (3 or 4 months ago) and titanium backup (2 years ago), both have their uses, I've been trying to switch to just ROM toolbox; however I noticed that if you freeze an app in titanium, Rom toolbox still sees it as an active app... Have not figured out what is going on there yet.
