[Rom][5-26-12]Broken Out Spectrum 3.0 w/ Blitzkrieg Kernel
Hello all! Here it is Broken Out Rom for the LG Spectrum!!! It has been fully cleaned out to decrease size and to increase speed. It will continue to be a work in progress! I hope you all enjoy!!!

What is this?
This is a very lightweight rom built both for speed and stability. This rom is based off of the latest LG version of Gingerbread, ZV5. It is fully deodexed, and debloated. Almost all of LG has been replaced and as time goes by, I hope to remove the rest. Swype has also been changed to the newest Beta. A few items have been replaced with AOSP versions to increase speed and decrease size. Also included is the appwidgetpicker to clean that up.

Is this one different then the one you gave me the link to?
It is basically the same except I added the misc.img in it to get out of recovery loop when CWM is entered with the button combo (thanks Neph for finding this method!)

Ok this will be my first Rom flash so i have a few questions to make sure i am doing everything right.
1. getting the file on the sd card? Is it as simple as navogating to this forum on phone and dowloading the file?
2. Back up? I have done a nandroid frm CWM and i have done titanium backups. i will also make a copy of my card on my computer, is this all i need to? or is there more to it?
3. wipe data? i do this from CWM correct? im not sure what gingervolt is, so that shouldnt apply to me.
4.getting all my downloaded content back on the phone? and contacts ans such?
5. going back to stock rom? easy? the reson why im doing back ups?
thank in advance. i know im new and annoying, but im juts being cautious and making sure im doing everything correctly.

1. Yes, download to your SD card.
2. What you have done for backups is perfect.
3. Yup.
4. Which downloaded content? Apps and such? As for contacts, those should all be synced to Google. For call logs, SMS/MMS, alarms, user dictionary; I use my backup root to back skull those up but there are other apps.
5. Your nandroid backup will allow you to return to stock.
Hth...

Quick question. Why does your script flash the misc.img file during it? The file should only be needed if the person used the button combo to enter recovery, and even then, they would need to re-flash the file each time they used the button combo to enter recovery.

Why not lol. With the revolution we spent many threads answering questions on how to get out of recovery because people don't know how to search. If this cuts down on one thread it was worth it lol.
Not to mention if I boot loop while testing I only have to flash one file instead of 2 after using the button combo. So I guess the short answer is laziness on both sides.

BTW, doing backups now and I can't wait to test out the Rom. I've been dying to get away from the LG lock screen. I'll let you know if I run into any issues.
can someone help me out? i need help backing up and wiping. I'm new so any help would be appreciated.
When booted into cwm select the option backup/restore, then backup. Give it several minutes to run. When done go to main screen in cwm and select wipe data/factory reset and let it run. When done select install zip from sd card, then choose zip from sd card, then brokenoutspectrum1.0.zip and let it run. When done, go back to main screen select reboot!

wooooooo!!!! 1st Rom install done successfully, working on getting all my crap loaded back on now. What a scary expeirence the 1st time. I sat there in CWM with 'wipe data' highlighted for about 5 minutes before i actually did it. Then almost had a heart attack when i went to install the .zip and didnt see it. It was in a folder aptly named 'download' though, my heart dropped so quick when i didnt immediately see the file though.... lmao. Everything seems ot be working great so far, nice clean crisp tranistions. The inital reboot seemed to take slightly longer than normal, or it was just me freaking out a little. The boot animation repeated about 10 times it seemed like, all i could think of was boot loop ( never had it so not sure what actually happens). Not too excited about the launcher pro though, i was really groing very fond of my Go Launcher set up, would it be counter productive to reinstall Go Launcher EX? Dont seem to care too much for swype either, but its nice that i can use it like a regular keyboard. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the lack of bloatware and excess crap though, excellent build!
note: anyway to change the stock email app?

First off, Thanks. I donated (very little because I'm broke, more to come).
My first reaction, awesome! Very fast, very smooth. Quadrant score of 2629. Dats Fast!
I did notice my camera wasn't working, I could bring it up but the actual button wouldn't take the photo. After a reboot it worked just fine. Not sure if that is worth noting or not. Also is there a file explorer? Am I just overlooking it? I think that would be useful for the 1.1. I do miss the LG weather and time widget but beautiful widgets will do just fine.
Great Job on this! I look forward to the updates.

You can install any launcher you want. GO launcher is super smooth and you aren't going to hurt anything by using it. Also go on the market and get a different email app. and if you don't like swype (which i don't either) then go to the market and download the keyboard you want. You can also freeze swype with a app freezer like rom toolbox pro, or Titanium backup pro, among others, and freeze what you don't use. Even when I'm using a debloated rom I still usually manage to find a dozen or more things to freeze because I have no use for them.

ty, i was using Go Launcher and Go keyboard so ill prolly go back to that. im gonna play with this for a while 1st and see how i adjust. Does Launcher pro offer other themes and such like Go?
I really want to do all of this, but I am relatively new to the whole "root" scene. My spectrum is rooted and I have gotten rid of some bloatware on my own, but I really want to flash a new rom and have everything nice and clean. In order to get to the point that Hollywoods14 is at, do I need to go through the adb steps that neph81 explained in the other thread in order to get cwm working on the spectrum?
-these may be dumb questions but I appreciate any help in getting me to the point where I can successfully flash the rom. Thanks in advance!

you should be able to use the one click method to flash CWM, worked fine for me. Be prepared for some uneasy moments in your gut as your doing all this for the 1st time..lmao. Besure to read evething over very well before performing any mods, and if your unsure just ask. I am just as you, so welcome to the ' root scene'.
thanks. This is definitely going to be a dumb question...Where do I find the one click method?haha
nvm...found it in this forum. Thought I couldn't use it because I was already rooted, but I saw that there are options to only install recovery. I'm sure there will be more questions as I continue through the process.

correct you can only install recovery. make sure phone is set to ethern net connection and debugging. I also installed the drivers again even though i was pretty sure i already had them.
I did the one touch and just chose, cwm recovery and everything seemed to work fine and it said it was successful. But when I open rom manager to do a backup of my current rom it still says I need to install clockwork mod recovery??I'm confused
Once again, I ask before looking around. I realized I needed to just reboot in recovery and it works. I'm getting there haha

Hollywoods14....I did it! I almost freaked out when the opening screen animation played about 15 times in a row! Thanks for all of your help! and thanks to the guys who created this!awesome!

I find launcher pro to be weak and lacking the power and abilities GO has. And if I'm not mistaken i don't think launcher pro has been updated in almost a year. I've tried a bunch of launchers and even bought SPB shell for 15 dollars and ABD for 4 and then tried a bunch of other free launchers and I've yet to find a launcher with the customization and configuration options of GO. If someone knows of a launcher that can do more than please tell me.
I've been using GO for 9 months and they constantly update it and make it better. I've never had a single issue with it in the whole time I've used it and like I said it just keeps getting better and better.

Ok, now that I've had a chance to run this for a day, I will say that this is a damn fast rom, but I have a question. Is anyone else having their screen brightness adjust faster then normal? It seems that it's polling the light sensor almost once every 2 seconds at times and this seems to be causing unnecessary battery drain when the screen is on (as well as causing my eyes to strain). Any thoughts on the topic would be appreciated.

I haven't seen this behavior at all. My auto brightness is smooth and doesn't seem to be polling more than normal.
Got my phone about ten hours ago and had it rooted with the new rom installed about 6 hours ago. Would have been earlier but i had to go do a few things around town first. Rom is running great so far will let everyone know if I notice any bugs.
Do I need to install my 4G SIM card or just make sure that 4G is enabled?
I am using this as a wifi only device.
Havn't even activated it yet.
Probably won't until vzw offers a family share data plan.
Don't need 2 data plans.
The only thing 4G is good for out here is using bluetooth while in airplane mode.
Edit:
Well, 4G SIM card is still in it's wrapper.
Flash went well. This ROM rocks.

Ya, noticed that yesterday, will have a fix in the next update. Also, I have the dialer voicemail button remapped to Google Voice now and I have the space in the noti bar between battery and gps fixed and both will be in the update. I am going to the mountains for a nice, relaxing weekend, but will have an update early next week!!! Thanks for the feedback!!!
