Adam Dunn is da' man! I've always been a fan of Dunn, even when he played for Cincinnati. I was about a foot/foot 1/2 away from catching a HR ball that was hit by Dunn when I attended a Reds game at GABP several years ago. Dunn had a great season for the Sox, blasting 41 HR's and 96 RBI's. The only negative about Dunn is he SO alot. In 12' he SO 222 times and that's the most he's ever had in one season in his career, but hey he's blasting those HR's and driving in runs, can't argue.

Between him and Mark Reynolds, one of them has to set the record for most K's in a season lol.
I agree, and if it wasn't for the fact that Loria is good friends with Selig, he wouldn't be an owner anymore. He ruin baseball in Montreal, and continues to ruin his franchise in Miami. As unfortunate as it might be, the Marlins really need to be sold and moved out of Miami. They just spent all that money on a ball park, but I can't imagine that anyone wants to spend an afternoon at the ball park in those humid Miami summer days. Not my idea of a good time. Tampa Bay puts winning teams on the field the last few years, and still has trouble selling half of their dome out. Baseball just doesn't seem destined to be successful in Florida attendance wise it seems.

My favorite Dunn memory is from a game against Cleveland in 07. Bottom of the ninth, reds down by 3 runs, bases loaded. You guessed it, walk off grand slam home run. I hugged strangers that night, lol! It's what makes baseball great, those types of moments

record used to be his with just under 200, surprised 220 didn't reclaim that title.
What's the record now and who has the honor?

Speaking of which, they just traded James Shields and Wade Davis to the Royals for Wil Myers (#4 prospect in Baseball America) and Jake Odorizzi. It was a 6-player trade, but the other minor league players included aren't worth mentioning.

Hah, you're right. Back in 2009, I was at Game 6 of the World Series. INSANE! You don't think about it. You just hug and jump. That's the rule.

I think Mark Reynolds holds the record at 223.

Royals fan here. They're getting crucified on social media here in KC, but I think the trade isn't the end of the world that most people here think. I think Myers is a bit overrated, and if we can leverage that overvaluation, we should do it. He had a monster season in Rookie league (1.1-1.2 OPS) and a really good split AA/AAA season in 2012, but in between he was simply above average. He strikes out 25% of the time. Werner Park (home of the AAA Omaha team) is a definite hitters park, while Kauffman is not. I was really concerned about his ability to hit big league pitching.
Speaking of pitching, the Royals desperately need starting pitching. I went to 10 games last year. In all of the pre-ASB games I went to, the Royals' starting pitchers pitched the team out of the game by the end of the 3rd. Luke Hochevar got shelled for 7 in the first on Opening Day against Cleveland. Jonathan Sanchez gave up 3 infield singles in a row where the ball didn't make it back to the pitcher's mound in a shellacking by the Red Sux. Hochevar again coughed up something like 10 runs in 4 to the Yankees, including a Robinson Cano grand slam. We desperately need pitching and we certainly don't have $25m/yr to blow on 1 guy. This trade was one way to get it. Shields is good for $11-ish million a year for 2, and Davis is something under $5m/year, I think. That's more realistic.
I don't know a lot about him, but his stats seem to indicate an above average hitter, probably wouldn't be a bad addition to any team without an all star in right field.

He plays RF normally, so I would expect a move to CF also. He's a solid hitter and a good defender. Any team would be lucky to have him. He's still relatively young too.

Great to see another ChiSox fan on AF. Let's talk some ChiSox baseball this season!
With the addition of Josh Hamilton to the Angels lineup. Do the Angels have the best lineup in the league?
I don't know about the BEST, but they certainly do have a scary one. I think the Tigers still have the best lineup in baseball, plus they are getting Victor Martinez back from injury this coming season.
If you look at the Angels lineup, it's pretty beast though.
Trout: CF
Aybar/Kendrick: 2B/SS
Hamilton: LF
Pujols: 1B
Trumbo: DH
Callaspo - 3B
Aybar/Kendrick - 2B/SS
Iannetta - C
Bourjos - RF
Obviously, you could bat either Kendrick or Aybar in the 2 hole since both are speedsters and tend to get on-base fairly often. However, I would take Kendrick over Aybar since he is the better hitter.
Going for that W on paper already. Something tells me that they will still stink. However, I do think the over/under for Roidtista's RBI totals is about 135 now.
A lot can happen between now and October. Injuries, trades, season long slumps, etc.
I don't think the Dodgers will be trading away any of the stars they just paid out of the wazoo to get. I'm hoping the Kasten group won't pull a Loria.

Roidtista, lol. I certainly hope not, I just signed the guy to a 4 year deal in my dynasty league...

C'mon. A guy doesn't go from terrible hitter to smashing 50+ dingers per season from any segment of the plate just because he tweaked his swing slightly.

Great read, but I knew a majority of these things already. I don't deny that Bautista has skill, and he's built like a tank. It just baffles me how he was a bottom of the barrel player with exceptional skills, and nothing came of it until Gaston strolled along in Toronto.
Me thinks he'll deliver, but then again.. he wasn't that great w/ Texas. Time will tell, but that offense needs a lot of work after all that salary (and superstars) they dumped.
In yesterday's news, the Cubs signed Edwin Jackson to a four-year deal and Carlos Villanueva to a two-year deal, and the Rangers signed A.J. Pierzynski to a one-year deal.

I think Seattle got the better end of that deal. Kendry plays solid defense and he's a masher. The only downside to him was that plantar fascia break.
A few new signings today: Cody Ross got a three-year deal with Arizona, and Seattle signed Raul Ibanez for one year. These were both guys that had been connected to the Yankees. I personally had thought that the Yanks would end up resigning Ibanez after the way he endeared himself to the fanbase during the playoffs. Looks like we'll have to find someone else.

Yanks brass have shown me nothing that will make me want to re-purchase season tickets this year. StubHub it likely is this year.
He doesn't deserve that kind of money either. I would like to know where athletes get their projected figures from. Most of these guys are smoking crack with the salaries they demand, and then receive. Don't get me wrong. I loved Swisher during his time as a Yankee. The only issue was that it was all or nothing with him. He's a streak guy. Only upside was solid defense.

I seriously snorted when I saw those numbers, Swish just robbed the Indians blind. At that rate, I'm glad the Yanks didn't bring him back. They'll get their draft pick. I've seen some rumors on them trying to trade for Justin Upton, but the price seems rather high. Saw another one about a relatively cheap trade to bring Alfonso Soriano back, where the cubs would eat most of the salary. I don't like either of them, but this season is looking like it's in trouble.

Well, I won't count us out quite yet. Look what we did last year with all the injuries we faced. A lot of those guys are returning this season (including Mo and Pineda). All I can say though is that this may be one of those make or break seasons due to our cutback on spending, and the potential for Cano to walk after the 2013 season.
So what does everyone think about the HOF election results? I personally don't like the fact that no one got in. I really felt that at least Biggio should have gotten in. We all can agree that he didn't juice and he 3,000 hits. That's such a slap in the face imo because the only people without 3,000 hits that aren't in the hof are Rose(banned for betting) and Palmeiro(juiced).
