Default New Meadowlands Stadium

Went to a pre season Giant game a few days ago, my first visit to the new Meadowlands Stadium. I'm a 16 year Giants season ticket holder. If Yankee stadium and Cowboy's stadium are worth $1 billion, someone pocketed ~$700-800 million in the building of this stadium. There's no way that this should be the most expensive stadium ever built. While it has some nice features and is an upgrade to the building it replaced, it's also grey, generic and lacking in vision (see Cowboys stadium for vision). Add to that the stratification they've added. Want to park anywhere near the stadium? Buy a $20,000 PSL. While it's understandable for there to be premium parking, the space set aside (~40%) seems way in excess of need. The much smaller premium lots at Giants stadium never filled up. If you have seats in the 300's, you'll find yourself significantly farther from the field and you'll have a much longer trip to your seats as you zigzag up multiple escalators. Gone is the one escalator to each level, except if you're in the tony 100's. Good thing the video screens have been much improved too as you'll be watching them more vs the tiny little guys moving around on that distant field. I don't think it's unintentional that you're routed past the suites and clubs as you trek to your seats either. Enjoy the nose rubbing. There are many more places to buy food, but you'll pay dearly for it as the prices have been jacked up significantly ($4.75 for a water or soda!). All in all, I'm having severe PSL buyers remorse. I'll go this season since it's paid for, but probably look to recoup my $3000 before next season.

The funny thing is that this stadium was built primarily to keep up with the Jones as in Jerry and in building it, Jerry wins big time.

Yankee Stadium is worth $1.5 billion to build. The entire project however was $2.3 billion. I've never been to a football game before but I do look forward to going to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy to see my Colts whoop some Giant ass

I could not possibly agree with you more! Have not seen a game there yet, but was there for Bon Jovi (don't ask) Memorial Day weekend and that place is/was a far cry from what I expected!

I am thoroughly disappointed in that place!

Maybe for a Giants fan the new stadium isnt that great, but from my perspective, a Jets fan, this place is pretty awesome in most aspects. The grey is their because the stadium is universal. What other color would it be? No matter how much Giants fans want us out, the Jets are here to stay. Remember, the 1.6 billion spent on the stadium was split 50/50 actually making this more affordable for both teams.

Now there are some things you are totally right about. The 300's are harder to get to and higher then they were before. Its a nice long trek to get up there. I miss the spirals. Also, the new parking structure is stupid. I found out right before the first preseason game (Jets/Giants) that my Orange parking pass was almost worthless. I don't mind a walk but they only let you park in the shitiest spots. I was able to upgrade to the highest level pass for that game. I ended up parking right by the cheerleaders, but I don't expect that to happen again.
And the PSL's are way to expensive. I was a Jets season ticket holder last year. Can't afford it this year. They jacked up ticket prices too.
As far as the food prices go, you should't be expecting anything cheap in the NY area. I am just used to that, it doesn't even faze me anymore. I make sure to eat and drink enough before and after. Thats what tailgating is for.

Nothing I said had anything to do with or against the Jets, my Dad's a fan. By grey, I meant that it's got a generic bland quality to it. There are plenty of colors in the spectrum that don't have anything to do with either team too. Maybe it's because there were too many chef's involved because of the 2 teams, but the stadium lacks that thing(s) that would make it feel special and unique. It's nice and new but will devolve into "that old thing" long before a place like Cowboys stadium looses its luster. The hyped exterior color change gimmick is pathetic at best and could have been achieved with a bunch of flood lights with blue/green gels on the old stadium. Once again, it's a nice stadium that's not worth 1.7billion, not even close.

These are my points too! Taking both teams colors and themes out of the equation, it seems sort of bleak and almost clinical. There is none of the "flash" you see in the other new stadiums.

The product on the field hasn't been the greatest the last few years but Ford Field is a beautiful stadium. Way better than the crappy old Silverdome. I do miss the awesome fights on the third level of the Silverdome though.

Screw all you guys!!! My team plays in the Metrodome, which has got to be the worst NFL stadium still in use. Nuff said.

That's because all the stadium upgrade money goes to Brett Favre!

Soon it will be paying for his life insurance. I really think he's going to get killed this year. I give the Vikequeens a 0% of even reaching the Superbowl. The Saints, Packers and Cowboys are all better.
