Hockey fans unite!!!!!!!!!
OK GUYS,
ITS TIME TO UNITE HERE AND LET THE OWNERS KNOW THAT THIS IS BS WHAT THEY PLAN ON DOING, LOCKING OUT THE PLAYERS AND THUS THE SEASON. WE NEED TO HIT THEM WHERE THE WALLET HURTS.
for me i'm such a huge hockey fan that not having a season will hurt tremendously, especially when my LA Kings are Stanley Cup champs!!!!!!!!!! i can't even celebrate when the season supposedly was to start. So we need to hit these rich owners who are not cooperating with the players on anything. we need to stop buying season tickets or even buy do not get the nhl packages by direct tv and lets see where that gets them.

P.s. what are ticket prices like for Kings games? Anywhere close to reasonable? They're a fun team to watch. Alot of skill there
Well for last year the cheapest seats were going for $25-$30, but those were the nose bleed sections. You can get nose bleeds that are in the front row for $40 that are really good. Hopefully they will not raise the prices because of the Stanley Cup and this stupid lockout.
I sure hope that they come to terms soon. I'm aching to give my GO KINGS GO!!!!! cheer.
however, if we the owners lockout the players for the entire season as ovechekin is thinking: Ovechkin says lockout could last a year , then i'm over hockey for a while.

i think this is unfair to not only to us fans but also to the employees that work for the teams, facilites and such. the players have said that they are willing to work while they continue to negotiate. it is the oweners and gary bettman that have locked the players out. now the owners are cutting staff because of this. not cool!!! NHL staff told they'll be reduced to four day work weeks during lockout - The Hockey News

The first time this Minnesotan has been really excited about pro hockey since the North Stars took off to Dallas, and there's yet another lockout. Just great!

Cheapest seats here in Vancouver are around $80. Then you have to pay something like $25 for parking. I don't think I paid for my own tickets for the last 15 years. It's just too expensive for me. The last few times I went, I won tickets once and the other times, I got them as a gift from someone wealthier than I. I love watching NHL live, but I'm not willing to pay such high prices. It seems to be cheaper to fly to Phoenix to watch the Canucks play there than it is to watch them play here.
I think Bettman pretty much has Canadian NHL fans by the balls. If we don't buy tickets, they will just move our teams to the States. If we buy tickets, he takes the credit for making the NHL a lot of money. There is pretty much nothing we can do to make the game better for us. He knows we'll come back no matter what. If US fans buy lots of tickets, he'd just use that as another excuse to move another team to the US.
The league is just about money. Bettman wants that big US TV deal he's been dreaming of since he took over. He doesn't have a good TV deal and he wants to take it out on the players. He leaves a team losing big money in Phoenix and wants players to take a pay cut because the league is losing money. He locked out the players several years ago and the players had to give an across the board pay cut. He thinks he can do the same again this year. I don't see him offering to take the same pay cut himself. He makes several million a year I think.
Rest assured that when the NHL gets started again, Canadian fans will come back in droves. It is such a big part of our culture that I cannot see fans up here welcome it back with open arms when it returns.
It seems that only fans in the US may have some influence in this dispute. The NHL actually has something to lose in the US. There is greater potential for damage to US franchises for the long term. Perhaps the damage has already been done as a number of them are in trouble and one has already moved last year. It is just sad to see that the fans who love the NHL the most are the ones who suffer the most and have the least influence in this dispute.

I started playing Hockey in 1970 (retired in the mid 80's) and grew up watching soooo many great players. As a defenseman I tried to emulate Bobby Orr and wore his number. Spent more time in the sin bin than on the ice, not by choice, but because I was bigger than most kids and everyone thought they had to take a shot. I have not followed the labor situation because I feel pro sports are getting ridiculous, don't know the details and wont throw any stones, I just hope that there is a solution that benefits not only the league, owners and players, but the fans as well.

well this is a step in the right direction coming from the owners. lets see what the players do. the puck is on the ice all they need to do now is shoot.

So far, I haven't seen anything that would solve the problem of smaller market teams without making the richer teams even richer. Seven years ago, all the players took an immediate cut on salaries. Now the NHL wants the same thing to happen again. If the PA lets this happen, several years later, the NHL may ask for this again. They need make sure that the NHL doesn't have to ask for something like this again. We already lost an entire season and we may lose another one again so soon after. What is it in this proposal will give me confidence that we don't have another Phoenix or Florida?

it is so fitting for us LA KINGS fans that the one time our team wins the Cup, the following season gets cancelled and we never get to celebrate it. once the season does start( if it ever does this season), it will not be the same.
can we impeach Betteman? He has got to be the worst commisioner of any sport out there.

I feel for you. At least we, Boston Bruins, got to enjoy our Stanley Cup win. I agree with you, Bettman is the worst commissioner of any sport. Maybe David Stern should move to the NHL after his NBA duties are over in Feb. 2013.

i used to think bud selig was the worst for baseball, but this !#%$$ easily wins the worst commissioner award easily.
i really hope that mediation will work. if it does not work and the PA plans to disassociate like the NBA's PA did i'm not sure the same results will happen. even if they do have a season, it will still never be the same. and those new fans of the LA KINGS have probably forgot about the team by now. so now hockey in LA is still 3rd or 4th fiddle to other sports.
I'm glad they are not playing this season...the reason is, I work about 2 blocks from the arena and when they play, the parking is terrible for me at work. The fans get to park in our garage also.

well this stoppage not only hurts the players, the owners, or the fans, it hurts all the bussinesses that surround the arena. i'm sure where you work, your bosses are not happy right now with no hockey to help bring in people to the area. i'm sure they are doing ok, but i can tell you with the staples center, us hockey fans flood the area and most businesses do quite well.
you maybe glad for your parking space, but i do not think that for the overall economy it is not good to have this lockout.

I do understand what you're saying also. But what did the buisness do before a hockey team came around? Sports doesn't have any effects on my job either, I work for an insurance company in the IT field. I'm not against it per say but I just don't like why employees have to wait in long lines to park to do my job. I start work at the same time the games start, 7pm!

ok i guess i understand now your issues with parking and such, but such is the life of working near an arena that hosts hockey among other activities.
are you a hockey fan? i am.......and i'm not happy with any of this

I love your optimism!!!!!believe you me, if there is a season after all, i will be at the very first game to watch the unveiling of the stanley cup champion banner. i did not have the chance to be there for the parade and i told myself that i would be there for the 1st game for the banner raising........so i really hope you are right.
but i fell so let down by the league and gary betteman. this lockout has done a lot of damage to its popularity that i'm not sure how people will react to it. i guarantee you that if the kings did not win the cup, i would not have shown up at all for any of the games. a 48 game season is a joke!!!!!

Yes this has left a bad taste in a lot of fans mouths. Really unfortunate after winning the Stanley Cup. I do hope there is a season even if short. No season would be worse and I do hope the fans come out and don't "boycott".
With the strike over, this means I'll have to wait in long lines to park for work. The good thing is I only work 3 nights a week! Hopefully, they will have one or two games those nights.

Re: Hockey fans unite!!!!!!!!!
I'll probably go to game two or three. Can't do $150.00 per ticket for game one. I'm so glad to have them back, I watched the practice on TV. Go KINGS!
