Halftime and I must say I have been very impressed with Ghana. Though it might have been a bit one sided but they have really been putting the pressure on Serbia and should have been at least 1-0.

Cracked another beer open and looking forward to the 2nd half

Edit: 1-0 Ghana. Well taken penalty and right result hopefully.

Unless Australia get their act together at the back this is going to be a very embarrassing first game for them, 2-0 in less than 30 minutes!

Cheers

Should be more than 2-0 if Germany would do a better job finishing.

Got to agree there. It could be a lot worse for Australia, that last chance, if he went down I think it would have been a penalty, fair play that he stayed on his feet but I think the keeper did catch him.

Australia seems a little too reliant on the referee. Their offsides trap already failed them, abort it and play real defense.

With the recent red card I feel that this game is near over. The venom is out of australia's attack. Hopefully Germany will continue to play as well as they are throughout the world cup. I believe that they can go far.

Edit: What do you guys think of Cahill's card. I believe that it was a good call.

Straight red, that is unbelievable!! Think it is damage limitation for Australia now, as you say the back 4, as soon as the ball is palyed, look at the linesman for offside but Germany are timing the runs to perfection

I think they can from this performance but there have been doubts because they're a young side, but if they can keep this up they could be a favorite? Maybe to early to tell?

Edit; is it just me or are you think how close does Kloser need to be to score ha ha

Bogus red. He held back, no cleats at all. If he would've gone cleats up it would've warranted a red, but not for mistimed tackle.

It could be worse, they could have Rob Green in goal

Don't see why not. Cacau is a German Brazilian, I'm sure we could find Rob Green has a German relative so he could play for them. We may be in with a chance of winning then

I'm a tad German, maybe I could go in goal. Except I probably could've saved the one Green let up.

As much as I disagree with that red card, I love this ref. His two yellows for diving are great calls. That's one of the things I hate about soccer.

I have to say that that was a good result. The Germans were the better team. The Red card is debatable (probably a bad call), but the Germans were out playing the Australians handily even when Cahill was on the field. Go Germany!!!

Here we go everyone now thinking the Germans are awesome hmmm lets wait until they play serbia or ghana they won't look so good then.

I dunno what the ozzies were doing but they must of been thinking they were playing rugby because there was no defending whatsoever and everytime they attacked there was like 2 australians and a swarm of germans.

I don't even notice them at this point. I completely forget about them until someone goes "what is that noise?" Then I suddenly notice them again.

You my friend are wrong. Serbia conceded a horrible hand ball, and have lost a large component of their defense. The Germans played excellently even ignoring the fact that the Aussies made mistakes. They made great runs off the ball, and were able to create opportunity many times. The Germans will walk through this group with 9 points I believe.

Now for the Italy game. What a shocker. That set piece goal was a good one, but I find it hard to believe that they will be able to see this lead. On to the second half.

According to the papers over in the UK they have had that many compliants about the vuvuzela they may have to ban them?

Erm no i'm not wrong i've watched all the World Cup games so far and Australia have played by far the worst and its bound to make any team look good when you play like that.

By the way Germany are still Ranked Number 2 in the world and Australia are Ranked 52.....

England Rank 5 - USA Rank 26

Hmm so as you can see there is a much bigger difference between Germany and Australia than England and USA.

Just like Brazil have got Korea DPR first match and Brazil are Ranked 1 and Korea DPR are Ranked 55... So i expect that to be a uneven match as well.

Hmm, if you had true facts, you would convey a more interesting argument. Germany are in fact 6, not 2. Also, England is 8 and the US is 14. Australia is in fact 20th.

As for Paraguay good job. A point will be good for them in this group. I can see them taking second probably. Maybe first, but i doubt it.

FIFA.com - The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking World Rankings list for proof.

Edit: As for the vuvuzela, FIFA and the organizing commitee have stated that they will not be banned unless they interrupt the National Anthems.

I was going by all time rankings but meh this still proofs my point the gap between England and USA is still smaller than the Gap between Germany and Australia.

And Italy the Cup Holders getting 1-1 with Paraguay is just as bad as the England result infact going by the link you posted its worse.

All of this hype surrounding the World Cup has elevated the amount I care about soccer from "utter ambivalence" to "enough curiosity to watch a game in which the US is playing." Way to go, soccer!

It is a bad result for Italy. They will not defend their title I believe. And a 4-0 victory is alot bigger of a deal when the differences between the two matches were only that of 8 places. Germany has played the best of any team, and there is a reason that all of the media agreses with me.

Wow, I am surprised at North Korea. Their defense was quite solid and they just showed they can compete. Just another difficulty added to "the group of death."

As for Brazil's first goal, lucky lucky lucky. It was a lucky cross. Goalie should've been guarding his near post as well.

Kudos to North Korea for playing a great match against Brazil. They sure made a statement that they deserve to at least be in the tournament. Brazil looked clueless in the first 1/2.

Got to give a lot of respect to NKorea.

Very upset with the lack of intensity by Nigeria. Shameful last 10 minutes. You're down by a goal. Be hungry!!! Plus, the goal NIG gave up was horrific.

Ivory Coast today? Not bad. I was impressed. I expected more from Ronaldo.

As a REAL football coach, I am in heaven this month.

Hmm. This Group of Death could be very interesting. I thought for sure that NKorea would be a blow out against all of these teams, but I was wrong. They could feasibly draw against Ivory Coast or Portugal the way those two teams played today. Brazil may also be in for a little more of a challenge from a team with a more venomous attack. This will be one interesting group to watch.

Some one care to explain to me how that just happened? Stuck at work over here. Also these 1-nil games where as soon as the underdog teams gets one goal they put all 11 men behind the ball are killing me.

What ever works huh? lol, Na World Cups are usually a bit slow to start off with i'm sure it will get alot more interesting soon .

The Swizz have a world class defence and are pretty decent at counter-attacking, Spain had more possession but done less with it.

Its still all open at the moment.

I was only able to catch the Spain game. Pretty excited that they lost, nothing like watching top 5 teams fall. The one shot from Spain that was just outside the 18 was phenomenal. I just hit the bottom of the crossbar but damn, what a strike.
