Sprint Google Wallet and Root?
Has anyone who rooted and flashed a ROM gotten the extra $40 in Google Wallet from Sprint yet? I was just wondering before I flash a ROM if I will still be able to get it. Also has anyone had the problem with the secure element committing suicide?

As long as you reset the google wallet app (from within the app) before doing a factory reset, you won't brick the secure element.

The $40 from Sprint for activating GWallet is supposed to hit your account w/in 3 weeks after activation. I've seen people posting screen shots over at XDA of their GWallet account w/ a balance of $50. I'm assuming we should be okay as long as we reset the account prior to flashing ROM's. If you don't receive the money after the 3 weeks has elapsed, you can always call customer service and they can force the credit right then and there.

Having been in the Android community for a little over a year-and-a-half, I am tempted to root the Nexus I just got yesterday. The talents of the Android community never cease to amaze. I was more than a little hesitant after seeing Google's recommendation to NOT use Google Wallet on a rooted device. What are you guys' thoughts on the potential security vulnerabilities with Wallet on a rooted device?

If you got it on Sprint I would at least use wallet to get the $50 Sprint promises and as long as you don't put a credit card on it you should be fine. I know of a bunch of people who are rooted and use Google Wallet.

I have received my extra $40 from Sprint, have an unlocked bootloader and CWM on my device with the BigRushDog root method ready to roll! I just wanted some clarification on suggestions on keeping Google Wallet "intact" after I root. Will it work if I reset it before rooting or can I just leave things "as is" currently, root and pray/hope/meditate/cross fingers for the best?!?!

I can't verify this as I have flashed many versions of ROMs and never once reset GW beforehand. More times than not I do not see the "unsupported device" message.
Can't say for sure which ROMs this was on, but mostly its not there.

It hasn't been 3 weeks for me yet but can you PM me the number in case?
Not seen mine either. Been about 4 weeks. I have a user of Google Wallet for a couple of years on a few occasions. I have a feeling I ain't getting it. Was it NEW Wallet customers only?

I don't think you already being a past Googe Wallet user makes any difference, but maybe it does. The promotion is supposed to apply to people who purchased a Galaxy Nexus and activated GW w/in the Nexus in a certain amount of time (I think it's 7-10 days of GNex purchase).

Frenchy is correct you must have bought a Sprint Galaxy Nexus and activated Wallet within 7 days of purchase and before May 22. If it was after that, well you won't see the money.

Yes and no, they said Sprint is running late but they will try to find out why I don't have it yet. They said if I don't get it by Monday to give them another call.

I had a hiccup with mine, my first Nexus died two weeks after I bought it. Activated wallet on my second Nexus the day it came in and finally got my $40 yesterday (did take three phone calls on my part). They said that the second activation is what pushed back my bonus date (it resets the 3 week clock) but it still took 5 weeks to get. Not a huge deal, but if you don't get it I would keep calling.

Okay I have an idea of my I heven't gotten it, what ROM was everyone on when they got it? I am thinking that since I'm not on a "Sprint" ROM that has profile and PRL update I might not get it.

I was on AOKP (official b38 I believe) when I received mine...There isn't the ability to update profile/prl on their outside of when you initially flash the ROM.

Need to call them still, I haven't thought about calling them. I just called money network.
Yeah, give them a call! From what I've read and understand, Sprint has the ability to credit your account right then and there if you push them enough. And in your case, there shouldn't be much pushing to do seeing it's way past the time their given to credit you that money in the first place.

Called them and they said to call google, the promotion had nothing to do with them.
Edit: now waiting for google to answer.
Edit 2: After waiting on hold for half an hour google answered and is refering me to money network
Edit 3: Guy (Not saying any names but if I get mad enough I will) from money network is going to talk about it with his supervisor tomorrow and will call me back after
