Laugh Looking for a good Rom

I am getting a galexy nexus in the mail and I was wondering what would be a good rom to put on it. My previous phone was a Optimus S with Hydrorom. I liked the good stabilty of that rom and am looking for one with the same on my new phone. I would like the antennas functioning 3g 4g gps ect. I was wondering if any have wifi tethering enabled its not a must just would be cool. I am reading through some to see how they are I would just like the opinions of everyone that might be able to point me in a good direction!

I'm on CM10 (I think it's the jellybro one) and it's awesome. No regrets at all with this rom. I haven't noticed anything not working, but I don't really do mms.

Codename Android is the big ROM right now or as stated earlier CM10 jellybro. I run jellybro but am probably going to try out CA soon. Jellybro is a good start though.

Welcome to the Gnex subforum!

There are plenty of great JB ROM's that are fully functional (MMS included). I'm currently on Code Name Android and loving it.

The best way to find out which one you'll like the most is to make a nandroid and flash!

What, no love for CM10 skank? That's my daily right now. Its a nightly but stable andno bugs. Also recommend lean kernel or trinity as a second. Let us know what you go with and your impressions.

I know Skank is a solid, stable ROM, but, I need nav bar tweaks in my life! It's just ridiculous how much you can change and adjust with Code.....INSANE!

Been using AOSP JB for about a week now with leanKernel, no problems at all on my end. Mms works fine, and battery life with leanKernel is nice. The one thing I do miss is the reboot menu from the CM builds. Other than that, I like my stuff close to stock so it's perfect for me.

Purely AOSP? I've been wanting to give that a try because of how solid it is. The only problem is that I know I'll get bored with it after a few minutes due to not having any mods......

Yup, that one People weren't kidding when they said it was stable. He just released a new build yesterday that is supposed to be final for awhile.

I was thinking of trying the Trinity kernel out to see these awesome colors everyone's talking about.

Believe me when I say that you don't need to run Trinity to experience awesome colors.

Hmm.. I'll have to dabble with these colors too... And I'll need to try out a custom kernel too! Seriously, everything is running so smooth on CM10 that I don't even think about setCPU or kernels....

If you want a fantastic stock AOSP 4.1.1 experience Purely AOSP is flawless, stable, etc. Everything just works and it's clean stock AOSP.

I've heard nothing but great things about it.....Don't you miss any of the additional settings or mods you get with other ROM's? That's the only thing stopping me from flashing.

Only things I really miss are the Power Menu and the ability to change my battery in my status bar from icon to percentage. I could probably mod that myself, but Pure AOSP is just so...pure Battery life is not a big issue for me with kernels, so I can do without the percentages since it lasts me all day anyways.

On my Marquee, getting into recovery takes about 10 seconds of holding down the Volume and Power buttons, so it's a pain in the ass for me. The Nexus boots almost instantly when I press my buttons, so I can live without the extended power menu and just Shut Down > Bootloader.

You could dl Quick Boot from Play to access recovery without all those steps....

Not even a little. I don't even use a custom kernel. Usually see 4hrs screen time over 20hrs. Stock battery as well.

+1 for VanirAOSP.....Not as much customization BUT it is by far the fastest JB ROM I've ran......The ROM is only 95 mb before flashing gaaps.

Have you tried Purely AOSP yet? Everything works, fast and smooth. I like it.

No I haven't but the majority of JB ROM's have everything working now, not to mention I'd miss the customizations too much.

Yes. You can flash an ICS ROM coming from JB without issue. Once you experience JB, you won't want to go back to ICS .

Forgot to tell you Congrats on Rooting and now Congrats of flashing your first JB ROM on your new Gnex!!!

Yeah, CNA is my fav and my daily; I'm currently on his latest nightly (8/23) and am waiting for another official release that the Dev should be dropping sometime tonight. Which version are you running (3.3.1 or latest nightly)?

You can keep up with Codename here:

Codename has improved by leaps and bounds since 3.1.0, so you may want to give 3.3.1 a go or you can wait till tomorrow and try his latest official release.

My Gnex gets warm at times (if I'm running it HARD), but for the most part stays cool. You may want to try a different kernel if your phone is getting too hot. I'm currently running Franco kernel milestone 5. Lean kernel is also a great choice. You can find them both on the ROM's and Kernels dl sticky.
