Default Root sticky is good for pros but...

Leaves a little bit to be desired when you don't do this stuff every day.

First I'm finally rooted but I don't remember all the stuff I should be doing.

What should I have and what order should I be doing it in? I'm not talking about ROMS and kernels. Do I need a recovery? What do they do again?
What about busy box? I remember that was always required with TI backup. Is it still important? What else?

I installed titanium and set that up but other than that I'm drawing a blank.

Seems like there are a lot of recoveries. If I remember correctly I should really have one. Which one's are best? Why?

I'm staying stock for now, just got the device. I'll try a ROM in a few days. Maybe hours if I get the time to mess around. At this moment I'm leaning towards SACS.

Some suggestions
The sticky should have links to the USB drivers and tell you when and where to install them... not to mention that they take like an hour to install.

Why doesn't the sticky offer root methods for linux? Then you don't need the drivers. That would be nice.

I want everything to work butother than that my interest is security/ privacy. Are there any ROMS/ developers that focus on that?

Device = Evo4G > Samsung G4
ROM = rooted stock for now
Kernel = stock for now

Easily install recovery (via qbking): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBQTx8FmTtk - If you are going to venture into ROMs, this is a must. You use it to back up your phone, prepare it for the new ROM as well as install that new ROM. And if anything should go wrong, this is almost always the easy way to fix it.

qbking's tutorials inform you that all necessary files are available on his website, with a link provided in the description. If someone borrowed his video, it may not have all the necessary info in the video description.

The drivers shouldn't have taken more than a couple of minutes on Windows. But glad you finally got it rooted.
