Your Utube force closing has nothing to do with you using Z4Root

Hi all ,
I am total noob when it comes to all this rooting of my Hero so please bear with the tons of questions.
I went & did a factory reset (per sprints instructions & punch in codes), & I was able to find my HeroRoot & that went well.
I can use Superuser. WiFi Tether, Titanium Backup & BusyBox all say as root, so I am guessing I am rooted.
When I tried to download Rom Manager from any links or their website I get anothing. Google Play says my phone is incompatible with the app.

I am running the following on my Hero 200
Firware 2.1 update 1
build 2.32.651.2 cl282911 release-keys
software 2.32.651.2
browser webkit 3.1
kernel 2.6.29-ba77cf03 htc-kernel@and18-2#1
baseband 2.42.02.10.29
pri 2.20 _003
prl 60690
Questions:

How can I get rid of the sprint apps I don't want?
How do I insall a new browser ( would love to try Froyo, Gingerbread, or maybe Zero Hero as I do love the little weather notice I get when I turn on my phone..lol)?
How & or what do I need to be able to have & use (unlike now) more apps?

I know somewhere along the way I didn't do something or something went very wrong.
Any help would be great as I just want to get this thing rooted so I can use all of the phone I paid for and not just have it filled to the brim with sprint apps I don't want or need.

The box does say it has programming lock & that i is CDMA 800MHZ/1.9 GHz

OK - You need to find an older version of ROM Manager.
Newer ones aren't compatible with 2.1
Be Menu settings applications to remove apps. Be careful what you remove.
Better Idea is to use titatnium Back up .....Freeze the apps before you remove. See if it causes your phone to go all wonky....

New Roms....I think is what you mean. New Browsers just downlaod from the Market.
For a new ROM -

Download one from xda or other sites....Flash a Custom Recovery. Boot into recovery (turn phone off, hold volume down and Power until white screen pops up)

MAKE A BACKUP.....

Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, Wipe Davlik cache....
flash ROM - install Zip from Sd Card ...Navigate to ROM .....click (flash gapps (only need if an AOSP rom) You will need download GApps as well.

Reboot.....

Thank you very much for the infor. I now have Rom Manager on my phone & did the flash recovery & it went very smooth.

My next question is what is the difference between Hero & sprint Hero?

I found a nice site that gives out alot of Rom link & it seems that the Hero (non-Sprint) has all the cool ones & well Sprint Hero seems to have the so -so ones.

Again many thanks! I wound not have gotten this far without it. I will post a link to the older Rom Manager site as soon as I get everything up & running.

The Hero is a GSM phone. The Sprint Hero is a CDMA phone. Whatever you do, DO NOT flash a GSM ROM to your Sprint Hero. Unless of course you enjoy fancy paperweights. Seriously though, can't stress it enough, DO NOT flash the GSM ROM to your Sprint Hero. It will brick your phone beyond repair if you do.

Well I have been playing around with Zero Hero Sense for a few days now & it's ok.

I have noticed that I have very little space left on my phone, I have about 46 apps on there & most came with the Rom. Only 8 are fun apps for me the rest are system apps I need to make my phone run well...SetCPU & things like that.

I also noticed my phone heats up very fast & the battery drains way way to fast for me.
Quesions:
Is there a Rom out there for Sprint Hero that is not going to suck up most of my space?
Now this question is a bit odd but oh well, I use to love being able to unlock my phone in the morning & see the cool little weather widget from HTC, if it is windy out the leaves blow across the screen...it was pretty cool & most people seem to like it.
Now for the question how or can I get that clock/weather widget back?
I have read through most of the boards , but there are just too many to go through.
Again glad to see these boards are here... great help.. good people...nice to see.

I highly recommend CM 7.2 (ver. ?), it runs on the Hero fantastically. And I believe that beautiful widgets has the weather effect, but I'm not sure as I haven't used it in a long time. The browser in Cm is pretty stock as well. Good luck and happy flashing.
