I like Fresh 1.1 rom with Gumbo Kernel so far it good. However, my battery life still kind of weak from my opinion. I am moderate to heavy user with my phone. Not sure if others has good battery life with these custom ROM. I want to try other 1.5 ROM and compare the battery life and performance. Any one has try this and what is the limit of flash and wiping to new rom? Should I wait a day or two or even a week?

Don't try the MoDaCo for battery. Its about the same as Fresh 1.1 with Gumbo.

Do try it, just because though. I like it, good feel like stock.

However, changing to landscape mode on phone does seem to take slightly longer than the Fresh 1.1 rom, not too big a deal with me.

Confirmed. You can use kitchen to upload themes and boot screens while using the MoDaCo 2.2 rom. Woot. I <3 my nexus one boot screen.

There's a new ROM posted at XDA called Pancake 0.1 that IMO is even faster than Fresh. I flashed it this morning and it screams. Some people say it's not battery friendly, but I'm not having that problem. I do have a glitch where my phone says unable to start Wi-Fi, but this appears to be an issue that is unique to me. I'm doing a wipe and a reflash as we speak, hoping that will cure it. The dev will customize it any way you ask him via XDA his thread or an IRC channel he's set up.

no harm no foul... with the number of new roms out there now it's hard to keep this thread updated... much less keep up with everything at XDA.. just think what it'll be like once 2.1 gets released..

This is true. I was gone for a weekend, and suddenly I was WAY behind on ROM's lol. I still haven't tried the newer ones out yet (too lazy :P)

Wow... installed Download: CDMA Hero Android 2.1 – v2 [BETA] about an hour ago. looks good so far!!! no major issues other than the fact that you have to go through the re-customization of your phone (just me being lazy!)

you've got to do that any time you wipe to put a ROM on. I've lost count of how many times I've re-done my phone lol. Pain in the ass, but if you use an app like titanium backup or Astro file manager, you can very quickly get all your apps back.

I am LOVING the multi-home thing, where you can show all the screens at once. That's freakin sweet

I'm really close to try this new ROM but I'm going to stick with Pancake ROM. It's fast and some how my battery life is getting better. 10:00 PM Yesterday to 3:00 PM today battery at 80%. I did light surfing, texting and checking email. 30 minutes phone calls.

I've been using the fresh 2.0d rom for about a week and I love it! Everything seems to work fine on it, I wish LWPs worked with sense, but no biggie. I do like how the weather comes on your home screen like a LWP. VVM and bluetooth including stero is working. I am a bit disappointed that there is still no bluetooth voice dialing, I hope this gets fixed in the official release. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem as responsive as 1.1 but I have little doubt this will be fixed with time.

Just installed Fresh 2.0d. Quick, easy, & painless. Like the performance so far, but I haven't installed all my apps yet so I'm crossing my fingers.

I have a Sprint Hero but using pre-paid Page Plus plan. I am rooted and running flipz Fresh 2.0d. The PRI Version says flipz_01, PRL 51780. How do I know what PRI I am actually using?

fresh 2.0d was working for me until i tried to turn up the volume using the side buttons then it would freeze. Also after trying to do something and an app would force close i could recieve phone calls anymore so i had to hard reset every time. I also couldnt link new facebook friends to their phone numbers in my contacts as they wouldnt update in the list.. It is still a pretty good Rom but i was just having issues with it..

Hi, Hero community, I am currently trying to get 2.1 onto my sisters Hero and then she also wants to root it. Would anyone mind assisting me?

Which rom is the best to use? Which recovery is best to use? Directions? Etc.? Thanks

Simply looking for a fully functional rom to use.

2nd Sticky on hero page
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-sprint-hero/38911-guide-root-rom-faq-tutorial.html

Also Ive used fresh 2.0d and damagecontrol 2.08. I think Fresh is a little faster and the ui is different. DC2.08 uses a rosie that looks like your 1.5.

Need help! I installed Aloysius 2.0.8 rom last night and now all my phone will do is show red, blue , green and yellow colors the boot animation going back and fourth all night it will not let me do anything it seem like it is suck. Is there anything I can do to puy my old system back on the phone? I tried the hold the power button and volume down key but it just does the same thing over and over and I can't do anything with the phone. Is my phone just a brick now or is there a way to make this thing work. Please Help

first... what phone do you have?
second... did you wipe data and davlik before flashing the ROM?
third (and most important) did you make a nandroid backup prior to flashing?

power off the phone. hold home button and power on phone while holding home.

the boot screen takes awhile to load. for me it took about a good 15 to 18 minutes. just give it some time and let it do it's thing. this is a great rom and once you have it fully booted just reboot it again to make sure everything gets updated. trust me..it takes awhile for the boot screen but it'll load!! good luck!

So, this has probably been asked many times, and sorry for that. Which ROM should I choose? I'd like to have a little customization, but mainly speed. I have the Sprint Hero 2.1 with the latest ota update (I read how to fix that issue so I can root already). I've heard a lot about DC and Villian, is any one better than the other, plus the fresh?

Thanks a lot
-Jim

I realy like ZenEXP0.9.6OC ...it's overclocked for speed, (virtually no lag, and also has landscape home screens) and you can set the cpu to slow down when not in use (phone sleeping, screen off) for battery savings. Many customizations available for it as well.

Well, I decided to go with the DC 2.09.01. I'm pretty happy with it, I did notice some increased performance, with the added benefit of the live wallpapers.
