Question Life after Sprint for HTC Hero?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any uses for a Hero that is no longer on the sprint network. I imagine that rooting can make certain functions of the device usable, does anyone know of any interesting uses for this? Can the gps still be used? any ROMs that will give it interesting uses?

The above two posts pretty much covered everything I was going to say. I still use my Sprint HTC Hero as a Wi-Fi enabled Internet device.

It just sits on Wi-Fi with Airplane Mode enabled and everything works just fine. If you want Bluetooth to work while you are on Airplane Mode, give a CyanogenMod ROM a try as the stock ROM does not support this.

Nice ...I think voip would be an interesting second use ...I also got to wondering if there were any apps that would let me call in and activate the camera for security monitoring ...anyone aware of anything like that?

Thought I'd try this but I can't find GoVoip. Do you have a link?
