Espresso is basically just a theme, gives a square bar at the bottom instead of the standard round one.
As for your voicemail problem, go to Menu>Settings>Call>Voicemail settings, and enter your phone number (you might have to select "my carrier" under Voicemail service first).
WiFi tether I have no experience with, no use for it.
I'm sure there's a theme/taskbar out there that'll bring you back to a stock taskbar...I haven't messed with it yet (I agree about the signal icon though)
Had the same problem with the voicemail! Thanks @Tatonka Hero!
Anyone having battery issues after rooting and installing this ROM......Well I was having battery issues. My battery would just die quicker than normal so i decided to update the radio which is suppose to help signal strength and battery life. It was very easy and my battery is lasting longer. Here is the link to download and instructions to update
FYI, anyone wanting to use clear widgets, it doesn't work with the Damageless ROM. I used it with Fresh 1.1 and liked it so I gave it a try. It wiped out the clock, calender and many other items I had on my screen. Thank goodness I always back up before doing anything to my phone.
So, I've just flashed DC 1.0...and I've realized that ALL of my apps, info, etc, are gone...I guess I was under the impression that all of that would be 'ported' over with the 'upgrade'?
Is this not the case? I guess I need to now go back and download/install all of my apps again and hope that they somehow pull all of the data from the SD card?
I'm guessing that this was done by the wipe...
EDIT: Just went into the market > downloads and I find all of my apps listed there...but I guess I'm SOL when it comes to getting the data back for them?

If you are just now rooting and you did the whole root process then there was a step that said to "Wipe" this means it removes everything from the phone(Ex: apps, contact, etc.) so yea you gotta redownload everything anytime you do a system wipe.
Has anyone found a fix for the Google Authentication log out? Not that annoying once in a while, but when it keeps telling me my correct password is wrong, thats irritating.
Other than that, I am loving this ROM. Some weird stuff went on the first time I flashed it. Certain apps and widgets werent there, so I rebooted the phone. Then those widgets would replace other widgets I had before. Like a music widget was where my calendar widget once was. Reboot again, and it would be something different, always a random set of apps would disappear.
I finally re wiped and re flashed it. Seems ok now. I am enjoying Youtube and Google Nav.
What if any "bugs" are you experiencing with 2.0b? Do you use the camera for video a lot? If so, this would be the primary driver for considering the switch, but it will require a wipe to do so.
I'm having problems with being signed out of Google and Facebook sync problems mainly. I use the camera, but I haven't had any problems, I've never recorded a video.

The google signout problem is persistent on both versions. It's an issue that likely won't be resolved until the official sprint release. Same with vvm. In terms of facebook sync, depends on your specific problem. All of my contacts sync on this rom fine, BUT all of my additional facebook friends end up getting added to my contacts list. If you have this issue changing roms won't benefit you.
If video isn't that important it sounds like the effort to switch wouldn't be worth it. Is you were coming from 1.5, I'd say choose DamageControl, but since you are already on a flavor of 2.1, probably not enough difference to change, IMHO.

Is anyone here having problems with not seeing pics in gmail. If so has anyone been able to fix it????
According to some posts I've read over at xda this is one of the top 5 bugs posted on the google android official site, so you are not alone and the problem is not unique to our build.

I was also under the mistaken impression that settings were stored in the folders on the sd card during the backup process. I knew everything would be gone in the wipe and that I'd have to reinstall, I just assumed the settings would be saved somewhere (what else would those folders be for).
It's not that big of a deal. The ONLY bad thing is having to redo all of those annoying levels of Abduction to get back to where I was

Yeah - I just didn't back up some of my items...which isn't THAT big of a deal. Maybe it should be noted somewhere? Just things like my notes, and my ToDo list...and I might have made notes of my installed items, etc. Again, not a huge deal, just made me stay up an extra hour last night...hahaha

If you are still getting sprint voicemail text messages, it means gvoice still isn't set up properly. 2 things have to be done manually to make it work.
1. The phone has to be set up. (if you are getting the cryptic sms notifications, you probably have this done at least partially correct, but not the next part). put in your gvoice phone number, then select gvoice. Make sure that gvoice number stays in there.
2. Your carrier needs to be notified of the change so missed calls will be fowarded to your gvoice phone number. This is done by dialing two different *## codes into the dialer and hitting send. This leaked rom does not allow gvoice to suggest the correct ones. Go to the gvoice webpage, under settings, and follow the instructions next to your cell number to deactivate and then reactivate gvoice. Do the deactivation if you tried the incorrect number that gvoice suggests.

K, i am back and loving it, Google Nav is pretty Cool. However, i cannot get facebook to sync with my contacts. If i go to a contact and choose a person and go to the sync person "Link Facebook Profile" where it says Select contact, no one shows up, and if i type in the persons name it does not find them. Thoughts?
Going to Settings > Accounts & sync fixed that for me. I put my login info for Facebook in and it automatically sync'd everyone. Pictures took a while to show up, but all of the profile info was there.

I thought I had the same issue, but for me it didn't start right away, and once it did, it went about it slowly. Try it again and give it a couple of hours; you'll notice Facebook pics gradually populating your contact list.

I flashed a new radio, have rebooted 3-4 times since then, and have noticed a significant improvement.
I use online radio at the gym when I go. Normally after about an hour I would drain about 30% of the battery and it would have to stop and buffer all of the time.
Today, after about and hour and a half, I had only used about 18% of the battery and it never had to buffer, not once.
I updated the battery today too, still no or not much of a difference. It is really annoying me, because I feel like the constant fight to get a signal is draining my battery life. I will give it another couple days till I decide.
I don't have any more issues on this ROM, what I did was RUU, re-root the phone, Nandroid Backup, Wipe, Flash DC, wipe, Radio update.
I am still getting voicemail notifications, saying I have four new voicemail messages. This time though, it asking me to call my google voice number. What I did was login to my Google Voice account through my computer, check all my Voicemail messages and use the "Mark as read" tool. Though, I only have experienced me getting these messages in the afternoon, and after a power on, so we will see tomorrow.
And there are no problems with your phone? I bricked my phone updating a radio..
Nope, I just made sure I named it radio.zip and then flashed it and didnt touch it while it was flashing. But I bought my phone at bestbuy and they have a 30 day return policy so if anything happens ill just get another and anytime i return my phone the 30 days restarts so idc if i brick it or not but the only way you couldve bricked your phone was if you didnt follow directions to the "T" or if the radio file was corrupt.
I just installed radio with RA1.5.2 and everything was copacetic with DamageControl1.0.... we'll see how it load-tests tomorrow. First impressions are only that there was no loss of quality in the fringe area where I live.
On a different note, When I connected it to my computer to load the radio.img file onto the sdcard, I got my first sign-in error in a few days; which was once again promptly fixed by cycling my airplane mode widget twice. That is my magic cure if any of you ever have problems with that.
Okay, I decided the dive in and install the new radio image on DamageControl. I did this for a couple reasons. First, I like tinkering around. The fact that I rooted the phone in the first place is because I love new toys. Sure I wanted to improve the phone, but the stock Hero was plenty acceptable to me. Secondly though, I've been running Fresh for 2 or 3 weeks and I was getting anywhere from 24 to 36 hours per battery charge (projected out). Since I installed DC this weekend, I seem to be getting 16 to 20 hours (projected). That's still pretty acceptable, but since some have commented they got better battery life I figured I'd give it a shot.
I've only had it installed a couple hours, but here is my initial feedback. I don't seem to be getting anymore bars inside my house, but I have noticed that it has remained on a 3G connection constantly. I'll test it more tomorrow. I'll charge fully tonight and test out the battery life tomorrow as well.
anyone getting SMS problems today? my phone was working fine and this morning when i send a message (stock app) its says SMS Error general problems, when you click on details it says Cause Code: 34, Error Class 2
I did do the MMS update after i flashed the ROM. wondering if i should do a nandroid restore. It was working flawlessly until this morning.
well i downloaded chomp and it was working and then later on i was getting undeliverable messages. My friends said some were coming through that said they werent, but not all are going through. Also tried handcent and the same thing. Wondering if i should go back to Fresh.

I was getting this, too. I wiped and reflashed DCv1 last Friday and not a single undeliverable yet! (knocks on wood)
Well I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this ROM while it lasted. If anything, it gives us a preview of what the real 2.1 update will be like.
I had to revert back to 1.5. I was getting a few bugs here and there, and after reflashing and reflashing, I would get different bugs, errors, Fcs, etc. The browser seems faster at first glance, but it actually lags a lot more in screen resizing and scrolling. Very irritating. A lot of my games would FC unexpectedly. The last straw was people kept telling me on the phone that my voice would randomly sound super far away, very annoying when I was trying to tell my wife directions somewhere, and she couldnt hear half of them. This might be due to the new radio? Not sure. Also, my battery life was ridiculous. Not even a half day (7-8 hours max)
So I RU'ed my phone, it reverted to the oild radio. Re rooted, and restored a backup of Fresh 1.1, GCK, and setCPU. I might give it another go, well see.

I keep kicking around this idea too... I get frustrated with voice mail, and I've also had people say they've tried to call me but haven't been able to get through to me. I also have issues with some of the websites I used to visit (Flash Sites) that no longer allow me to watch videos.
I'm torn... I love the new O/S, but I can't go a day without a bug

I too decided to wait for the Sprint release, mainly the voicemail issue so I wiped and restored a nandroid backup of the gumbo 1.5c ROM and am having people tell me the same thing... have been trying to call me, though the phone has not rung nor showing any missed calls.
I unrooted my phone...back to stock...........and probably gonna stay like that till the update comes out...
Which is why I love open source software (Android/Linux). We are free to use our devices how we want. For me personally, I haven't encountered any show stopper issues. To this point I am receiving all my calls. The only 2 issues I have are that dial out with Google Voice doesn't work, and of course the visual voicemail doesn't work. GV dial out is minor since I can initiate a call from the website. It's not as convenient, but acceptable until the issue is resolved. Regarding VVM, I could use GV but I'm already using it for work and I haven't quite figured out how to get it configured just right. I'm sure I can do it, just haven't had the time yet. So in the meantime, I tried YouMail yesterday and it's working good so far.
The bottom line for me is that I'm going to stick with the DamageControl ROM until Sprint releases an official ROM, at which point I will still run a modified version of it. Of course if I start to have more serious issues, everything I just said goes out of the window.
Anyone have problems using swype with damage control? The first time I flashed it was working fine when I installed it. But after I reboot the phone it will not work. The message says something about swype being set for another device.

i rebooted phone today as well and thats the message i got. i had the registered beta..... dunno yet wtf is going on
The unlock screen seems to act differently than those on other ROMs. When swyping from top to bottom, the phone doesn`t unlock. Swyping from the middle to the bottom will unlock it. Strange

Yep. However, since I've been running DC now for about a week I have adjusted to it.
i actually just went from Darch's to Damages, and i have to say, Damages is much better....the only thing i didnt test yet is mms, but everything else is absolutely perfect. I run Helix from the market and my phone for me is perfect right now.
Device(s): Sprint Hero - Rooted running Fresh 2.1 (disconnected, only running on wifi)

some people it's helped, some it hasn't. My signal didn't get any noticeably better, and I have no real idea if it helped battery life, but I don't think it did much for it. The biggest problem with this ROM (and I believe all of the 2.1 ROM's at the moment) is that is defaults to search for GSM, causing your time without signal to be very high (mine was at 85% yesterday...but I was probably actually without signal for half of that anyway lol). That seems to be a big battery killer, but there's a fix for it that you have to do every time you reboot
