Default Damageless ROM?!

Anyone check this ROM out? Where the heck did this guy come from? lol

Looks like nearly everything is working, camera and camcorder included. Might be worth a look

"I will not maintain this ROM as I do not take any credit for doing anything other than combining some files and signing it."

That's all I needed to read to decide not to even bother.

I'm running it now. Just make sure you modify the correct permissions on your data folders so you can install apps from the Market. He is planning on releasing a fix later today, but he passed out from staying up all night.

page 21 I think it says how. Let me find the post:

[ROM] Nearly fully functional (99.9999%) Sense 2.1 ROM w/video - Expresso optional! - xda-developers

That should do it. Make sure to change the directory to whatever your sdk-tools is named

well, it's a verizon ROM, so the market will show verizon. not a big deal. Just hit menu in the market to get to your downloads

well, Fresh just released an update that might fix your issue. But it looks like Flipz is going to be gone for a week, and won't be working on the ROM at all.

I think I'd suggest using the one from Damageless if you want everything working, at least for the next week. If there's any bugs in it, he'll fix it. The guy seems pretty damn dedicated to getting a perfect release lol

You can get rid of the Verizon Market by modifying your build.prop in the standard manner seen here:

xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM-DEV] 03/04/10 | CDMA Hero Eclair 2.1 v2 | NEW Eris 2.1 Base!

I've also noticed that this ROM has about 40MB more free space than Fresh 2.0b!

Yeah, he might have started off with the idea of not maintaining it...but that's far from gone, lol. Once he saw all the enthusiasum and excitement about this ROM....he's been on it NON-STOP and is still there now if anyone wants to check it out.

Everything is working for me...THE ONLY thing I would like to change is the lockscreen, and 'not' using locbot either.

....aside from that it is virtually flawless, until we get the official 2.1 update to work off of

Flashing the radio didn't seem to help me out any at home, but I noticed a big improvement today at work. I had an all day comparison with a co-worker who runs his hero completely stock, and I always had much better signal and never left 3g. He was mostly stuck in low signal and 1x more than anything.

Back on topic, I may actually flash this guys rom later this week seeing as how he HAS been maintaining it over his original posting of not wanting to heh. Just the thought of yet another wipe is... ugh. heh.

For those who have flashed it and are running it, is it just as speedy as Fresh 2.0b?

This didn't work for me... possibly doing something wrong? It actually screwed up ALL my programs I had to wipe and reinstall.

I'm not sure, it looks like a lot of people are having luck with the upgrade working on any ROM, even 1.5 ROM's.

Only one person has bricked by doing it, and I'm not sure he was entirely truthful about what happened.

Just make sure your battery is full before doing it.

Although, I don't think it makes much of a difference, certainly didn't for me. Might affect battery life in a good way, it's supposed to anyway lol

It's a great rom and I don't think he'll leave it alone until he gets it fully working at 100%..

I was up last night till 4am by being a tester...

Everything works..battery life it's great...

MMS you can receive/send text, get pictures but you can not receive pictures.

Someone on there says the fix that's been posted has fixed, I tried it myself over and over and nothing.

But all I can say Damage Control it's up there and has surpassed some of the well known roms that are out right now..

Yeah the problems on DamageContol are truly minor....like the trackball not working, or sending pics in MMS (working for some).

Unlike camera, video, mms, bluetooth...not working. Those are minor to some folk, but major to most.

Plus I could do without the live wallpaper....it's a plus to have, but a battery hog I'm sure as well as wasted space.

+1 Rom out there imo....it was Damage's genius to merge to two best ROMS out currently/previously.

i can't wait any more! I'm downloading the version that's there now, since I'm at the gf's with faster internet lol...probably won't bother flashing, because I'm guessing Damageless will come out with a new version today, and I'll have to flash it again (I'm way too lazy to be flashing a ROM multiple times...or maybe it's being an engineer and having the habit of trying to be efficient lol)

yeah Tonk, not just damage's rom, all of them everywhere! When i first rooted, I must have flashed 1231019834232 different times. I am proud of myself, as of today, last week I flash Chromatics molested version of pancake, and have not flashed sense! I am waiting for the official 2.1 update, and chrom to get his hands on one he can molest.

With Damageless's ROMs you don't have to wipe between updates. Flashing a new version takes like 10 seconds and doesn't change any installed apps or settings.

The espresso version was just updated.

The standard version is going to be updated soon.

So either flash the espresso version, or wait for the next update, coming in an hour or two

(I like the Nexus One boot screen better than "quietly brilliant")

Koni & Totanka... I read thru that entire post, awesome stuff going on over there for sure.

Question? I remember reading it but not reading an answer... Is there backward ability with respect to flashing the Radio update? I know it might not make sense, especially if I get EvDO. Rev.A speeds, but I'm curious if I don't like it, can it be flashed back to the earlier version?

Thanks...

I've also noticed that this ROM has about 40MB more free space than Fresh 2.0b!
If I am running Fresh Rom 2.0b and take the files from the links above.
Can I just install them as a normal update?
And will it be ok that I am on Fresh Rom 2.0b?

I really like the lock screen and would like the 3D GALLERY INSTAL!

RUU will put you back to the old radio version, or should at least. It's something to be VERY careful with though, as I've read a couple reports of bricking while flashing back. I think if you RUU to 1.29 (or whatever the original version was), you've got less chance of bricking, but don't quote me on that.

for watever reason this rom and all other 2.x roms don't seem to like my phone... i am rooted. i got damagless all up and booted but no radio would load. And yes i flashed the new radio successfully. The weird thing is i flashed the radio before the rom flash and the new radio worked fine with the stock rooted rom. Any ideas... waffle and fresh don't work either...

I just re-flashed Damage Control ROM once again!

and all I can say is that I don't think I'll be going back to any 1.5 ROM as of right now..

I got MMS to work with the fix that's posted in the Godzon's thread in the Dev Forums ...

I can receive & send pictures...the phone doesn't lag at all..

I am a happy camper right now.

I'm just doing a reboot after flashing it. Now I'll get to see what all the hype is really about lol

Yes it's a big hype!

and from what I'm reading, they might have Visual Voice Mail working as well and if it works it will be added to the rom and updated!

OH BOY!

yeah, it's looking sweet. Although, I haven't gotten a voicemail in like 3 months, so vvm doesn't make much of a difference to me :P

VVM is looking iffy now lol.

Does facebook sync work on this rom, like 1.5's was? Just the contacts, not the entire friendslist?

ok, so what is this espress version i keep hearing about?

this is the first rom i'm ever flashed to. I had my phone rooted already for some other things and had a recovery image on there but first custom rom just now. Here are my thoughts if you care to read them:

-I like that I can get all the extra apps. That is awesome.
-I like the os version better in general, although i think i like the sprint bars and evdo graphic better. With this one its always showing me at 1 or 2 bars. I know i have better signal (probably from radio update) because I looked in the settings and its has better db but i hate seeing 1 or 2 bars.
-I did not notice a huge speed impovement, but did notice some of the areas where the phone used to lag big time are now much reduced.
-I really hope visual voicemail is really fixed as I hate being without it. I get a lot of voicemails for work.
-I cant get wifi tether to work. PC connects, gets ip, but wont browse the web.
-holding 1 takes me to some sort of vigin mobile site after dialing *86. I tried dialing *86 from wife's phone and I get the same thing. How do i change that to my number so i can hold 1 for voicemail?

-after applying the updates, i got text messages with a bunch of gibberish telling me something about sprint trying to send me a voicemail and to call a sprint number. I deleted them but wish i hadn't so i could post them here.

overall great work and I love it. sorry for long post....

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!!

Espresso is basically just a theme, gives a square bar at the bottom instead of the standard round one.

As for your voicemail problem, go to Menu>Settings>Call>Voicemail settings, and enter your phone number (you might have to select "my carrier" under Voicemail service first).

WiFi tether I have no experience with, no use for it.

I'm sure there's a theme/taskbar out there that'll bring you back to a stock taskbar...I haven't messed with it yet (I agree about the signal icon though)
