Default How do I put music on HTC Hero (Sprint)

Is there a easy way of putting music on it from the computer? I did just go into the SD card and it had a music folder and I transfered music to it but on the phone it doesn't have the cover art and isn't organized well. What am I doing wrong? Does each artist have to have their individual folder? As well as what to do for video

You could try DoubleTwist which is supposed to sync your Hero with your iTunes library. Please note that the program is still in Beta and reports of how well it works are varied.

Yes. And a folder for each album, if you want your music player to be able to differentiate between different albums for the same artist. It's up to you to create these folders under the Music folder.

One shortcut I've found is this: If you use iTunes or some other music manager, chances are your songs are contained in these folders on your computer, so just drag the folders over to your phone instead of the individual songs.

I haven't copied over any videos yet, but I believe they are contained in the Albums app just like they were pictures. I would also guess that you have to create a folder called Videos on the card and subfolders within that folder when you copy them over. Can someone confirm this?

You can just manually copy folders. But I recommend a music manager that syncs with an external device. On windows even Windows Media Player will do this for you.

I personally use "MediaMonkey". It is very powerful for managing music files and will sync to hero very easily; including playlists, album art etc...

I would say that most likely the mp3 tags do not contain the appropriate information. You can check this by right clicking the song in windows, properties and then details.

i have an htc hero from sprint and syncing music has been a chore, basically. Firstly, with WMP, it will sync the music, but no album art. I then read a bunch of people using MediaMonkey, so i gave it a shot. MediaMonkey does everything perfectly, except it just puts all the songs and everything in the root of my sdcard, even though it's configured to write to the music folder, and by some weird occurence, actually does this with about 5 songs, just none of the others. However, all my music is organized perfectly in just about every media player known to man.

Step 1. Plug in your phone via-usb to Windows Computer

Step 6. Open up My Computer or Windows Explorer in a seprate window on the computer and copy and paste your files into the 100MEDIA location.

Step 7. Final step, from the phone pull down the drop down menu from the top and select Turn off USB Storage - Turn off - you will see SD Sync

Put the music in the music folder not the DCIM folder. I make a new folder for each album so i can easily add or delete albums. I drag and drop from itunes and it pretty simple.

use this for album art. The program will search places like amazon and give you the album art or cover. The phone will then know that it belongs to one album and will then seperate it accordingly. This is how I do it. Pretty easy and you can put tags on your music if you want to manually sort. Good luck

Default MediaMonkey

+1 for MediaMonkey... I use it to sync playlists and albums to my Hero, and it works great. It will also auto-tag and download album art.

Even I have the same problem. When I create different folders in the Music folder of SD card why does it not show the folders on the phone. Its all combines or sorted according to artist or genre. I want it sorted by folder that I created. Is there a way I can do that?
