I did a hard reset and then upgraded my firmware. I then went to re-install all of my previous applications and noticed that some were missing from "My Downloads". I then went and did a search to locate them in the marketplace and got no return, as if the application doesn't exist any more.
This happened for the following applications...
Golfcard
TV.com
Mathworkout+
NBA Lite
I then soft reset (restarted) my phone but got the same result. Anyone else have this issue?
Posting this to the Hero forum I see that both the Droid Eris and Moment forums have similar threads.

Good glad I'm not the only one. I can't find SU File Manager & Terminal 3.06 that I just bought yesterday and I didn't have it backed up yet.
I've restarted, I've re-installed the market app, I don't know what else to try. I've tried the barcode for the app itself and the market tells me it's not there. Lame.

Add Military Madness to the list. I hadn't bought it yet - waiting for the MR so I could update as necessary - But it's gone. Even tried the barcode on Androlib, game there but not in market
Seabreeze: I just did a search for "TV", and no tv.com here... Anyone else?
Update: I just did a test scanning androlib and 7 out of 10 of the first paid apps I tried were not found. SOMETHING is going on...and it's not cool.

I had purchases Spades for Android by bytesequencing.com. It is still installed, but in the marketplace app it doesn't show up in My Downloads. When I search for "Spades" it shows up in the list, but when I click it the app says "The requested item could not be found."
This may not be related to the Hero update however, something weird going on with the Android Marketplace in general has already been reported today:
I have missing apps in my Market MyDownload section, but all of them are available for download again.
Seems to be the Pro versions of free apps (ones that cost money) that are missing from Android Market???
EDIT: Just read on another forum that a guy played with a Verizon Eris (Hero) and it was missing some of the same apps as his Sprint Hero in Market. So may be more of a Google issue for Android 1.5? He also played with the Droid, it wasn't missing the apps though.

Weird, I have done the update, searched about 10 of the apps that everyone says is missing, and they are there for me. Makes me wonder if this is a location specific issue? I am in North Carolina and have no probs.

Jonnythan @ Sprint forums did a factory reset to pre-update status and reports missing apps are now available. So *something* has changed. Not just an Android 1.5 thing new to the market. It's VERY odd that Droid Eris users are reporting the same problem since as far as I know, they did not get any kind of updates, hence nothing should have changed, yet has. Just wtf is going on here???
Picsay Pro, Remote Desktop and SU File Manager are all missing for me. All three I paid for.
Also, I used Nandroid to revert to before the update, and these apps are still missing for me. Therefore, I dont think its a post-update issue. However, I was rooted on that backup, so pehaps that has something to do with it.

this is the constant problem with android maket and new firmware upgrades. when you upgrade you lose your favorites apps for some reason then magically when the publisher or google gets off their lazy butt to fix the code the firmware broke they show back up. this is a pain in the ass for those who dare not tread in the root access waters where you can make backups of your apps before flashing new firmware.
generally when an update to the firmware is made they test to make sure the problems they adressed are fixed or semi patched till a fix can be implemented. they also make sure connection is not lost with the maket. the one thing that is not checked is weather all the availible apps are still there or if they even still work that's the responsibility of google and the app designer. so start flaming the app dev to fix his code i forgert where but there is a webpage you can go to and post remarks on the market for any availible app just like you would from the market on your phone it's acctually the same comments page as market only web based but you can not download the app from this page.
my favorite apps backup programs are astro file manager which is free and root browser for the ones astro won't do this app you have to pay for but well worth the money both require root level access to backup apps.

Pure Calendar (the agenda view one) is missing too oh no! (Pure Grid Calendar is there.) The author says that Pure Calendar is the only one that was "protected by Google" of his apps, whatever that means, and it's the only one developed by him that doesn't show.
Sigh. I know I'm missing others but that's the main one.
This is very frustrating! I just had to get my phone swapped out so I thought it would be a great idea to update to the latest firmware right out of the box! The update went great but now I can't download a lot of apps all of a sudden. Hope this gets fixed soon.
Well after update I was only missing a few but some that I liked a lot so I decided to factory reset as some have said worked for them but every time I factory reset I loose more and they stop showing up in the market. So do not factory reset.

If that works, you could factory reset - Download wanted apps - save apps to SDcard - Reupdate - Reinstall apps from SDcard. Hmmm... what a PITA!
I bought DoggCatcher, and it's running fine, but it's definitely not findable in the market now. It does show the protected flag is on for it, so I suspect that protected apps in general are no longer findable.
Post the upgrade, I'm not seeing some paid for apps. I called Sprint, and they transferred me to HTC. HTC has escalated the issue internally and should be getting back to me.
If others are having the issue, you may also want to call in so that they are aware of how widespread the issue is.
What I suspect is that the signature of the phone changed and HTC needs to inform Google that this new signature is valid released production code.
The issue is that DataViz Documents-to-Go (full), and Sprite Android Backup (full) are no longer visible to the phone.
(Those are the 2 apps I've paid for).
Other apps seem to have the issue as well based on other forum posts.
Please call HTC ( 866-449-8358 ) and report what apps you are no longer seeing.

What was odd was for a little while they were still listed but when I tried to reinstall them I got path not found error then they were gone.
Here's the irony of all of this. Apparently this is caused by google's DRM protection, but people who pirated these apps are able to restore them just fine. People who legally bought them are being screwed over unable to re-download them. Is there something wrong with this picture? I think so!!! Backing up your apps without the need for a backup manager is now the best benefit of rooting for me. A few developers on the Android Market forum are also up in arms because of this issue as they are being blamed (apps are fully compatible) for google's faulty drm scheme. I wrote engadget about this, you guys should do the same to get them to do a story. Time for some bad PR for google. In an era where our information is so valuable google should take these issues seriously.

Exactly. Which is why I've now sunk to an all time low and "fixed" any future problem that the market is going to throw at me. Bring it. I have an app for that
You could always just resort to using the torrents to replace these apps. It's not like your stealing them now. After all you paid the price. Hopefuly... THEY ARE LISTENING TO THIS THREAD. I faithfully have purchased my apps. Unless this issue is resolved people will just take the torrent route to start with.
Yeah what the crappy DRM is doing is actually encouraging piracy. It would make sense for people to not want to buy and instead just pirate something which they think they may lose access to in just a few weeks. This is exactly what is happening. The DRM is more of a nuisance for anybody who knows what they are doing which sucks even more. The real tragedy here is that developers will not want to develop apps for such a faulty model. Why would I ever develop something for an app store that is bound to cause a million headaches from people blaming me for not being able to restore an app they bought? And why would I develop something for an app store that encourages piracy because of this?
As a side note I am not encouraging any piracy here. Quite the contrary I have found app store prices quite reasonable and everyone should pay for them and support developers who work hard at creating these awesome apps!
Here is what I did to get all my apps back. I flashed back to the Sprint RUU then I downloaded all the apps that I had previously even paid apps. (had to find them all so write them down) you will be able to see them after going back to Sprint's RUU. After I did that I updated the firmware and all apps were still there. They even still show in the Market after update.

I did this also, only my apps are still not in the market, just on my phone. Not only that but there are some I want to buy now and I cannot because they are not showing up. It has now been 3 days with no solution. Are they even working on one. Probl NOT!!!!

I dont know, I just did this this morning and it worked PERFECTLY!! Ive got ALL my apps back and I got the update and Im rooted and I even had an update for one of my paid apps and they are showing in the store again!! Here is EXACTLY what I did. I ran the Original Sprint RUU to go back to factory. Then the FIRST THING I DID was went to the market and all my apps where there. Do I downloaded EVERY ONE of them. Then I set up my phone the way I wanted it. THEN I applied the new MR update. Let it reset, everything was STILL THERE and working great! Then I just rooted and now my phone is running BETTER THEN EVER!! Try it the way I just explained I cant see how it wouldnt work for everyone.
EDIT:!!!!!!: After a reboot the apps are now gone from the market! DAMMIT!!! But hey, at least I have all my apps back. Just sucks cuz if they come out with updates you would have to go through that entire process again!! Screw that!!

I haven't called HTC, but have been bugging (emailing) developers that their pay apps aren't available to us. Sure they won't like that. I will call or email HTC hopefully later today (when kids are sleeping).

This time after I started from scratch (swapped phones today at Best Buy due to some issues) I installed all my paid for apps, bought a couple I wanted but could not get, then did the upgrade and they are still there in my downloads and they show up in the market if I search for them. This is a strange thing going on here, but I got them back. I have not rooted yet and do not know if I even will. Other than getting rid of some of the crap Sprint and HTC make yo keep I have not seen much of an upside, other than screwing up my phone LOL. I guess it did allow me to go into the folder that saves my paid for apps and put them on my SD card in case they disappear again. The Roms that were created did not reallt do much for the lag, but the update seems to have made it quicker. What to do, What to do. Knowing me I will probl root it again just because I can.

Have you rebooted your phone yet? Are they still there in the market?
oops after looking again, 2 of the paid apps are now gone. Quickdial and cachemate. Doggcatcher is there and ytz plus is there.
Trying rebooting a second time. Read elsewhere a guy got all his paid apps back on new (exchanged) phone. Did upgrade, he saw them in the market and in his downloads after the upgrade and even after the first reboot. They weren't there after the second reboot.
Maybe this is HTC, Sprint, or Googles way of keeping me from buying apps?
The developer of Doggcatcher turned his copy protection off so people couple download it.
My main issue SU File Manager & Termial 3.0.6 - The author of that app doesn't think he needs to remove his file protection in order for everyone to download it.
I managed to get it back another way. I like the easy way better though.
No matter what I've tried. Flashing different ROMs , hard resets, re rooting, you name it. The Sprint MR patch is poison for the market. Period.
