Default Possible Root Method

This root method has worked on many devices from most vendors. To try it just extract the .zip and run the .bat if you use Windows, or the .sh if you use Linux. Let us know if it works. You may have to try it a few times for it to "stick" so be persistent. No wiping occurs so there is no chance of loosing data as far a s I know.
UPDATE: So, I've been getting a lot of emails about bad links, and I've learned something about the process so I am updating the post with some new links and simple instructions.
First, install the Samsung drivers here:Samsung Drivers
Then extract this zip:Root tool
Run the RunMe.bat as administrator with the phone unplugged. The tool will tell you when to plug the device in. Watch for instructions from the command window. Chose option 1 when asked. There is plenty of output to tell you whats happening. There is no danger of losing data or bricking your phone. All the tools does is exploit an adb restore bug and push the superuser files and a hacked .apk to the phone that trick the device giving you root.

The link seems broke again but I Google it and found it on xda, I'm getting one of these next week and hope to give a try. I'm assuming if it works on the Galaxy s 3 it will work on this

Sorry about the link. We've tried this on the reverb and the rush and it seems like Samsung has patched the exploit. Shabbypenguin has a rooted kernel and recovery ready to test whenever someone gets up the courage to be a tester. (Insert obligatory evil doctor laugh)

I lied, Shabbypenguin did not have anything ready to go for the Victory. I do though and OUDHS has another possible exploit but to try it you will have to go covert ops and join the IRC chat. Even if it works, we are not going to release it to the public. However, we will release the fruit of it, assuming it works, as soon as we can possibly do it.

Has anyone had any success with Rooting yet?

I was thinking of following the steps for Sprint's Galaxy S3, since this is supposed to be "the little brother" to that phone. Any thoughts on the matter? Anything I should avoid doing? (Besides flashing an S3 rom. )

Try it. If it works let us know. Otherwise, I believe I have CWM recovery for it already...wait, I have a rooted stock rom I need tested actually. Shoot me an email if you are interested in testing that for the community. Email is on my profile page.

Will do. I've never rooted a device without already having a rom and a long list of instructions. I bought the phone off ebay pretty cheap, and I certainly don't mind testing it and sharing the results.

I will email you later today, provided the USPS actually delivers he phone today. If you're available, or anyone else, maybe we can do a skype just in case I run into any issues.

I also want to try make a "stock" backup rom, just incase it gets bricked. I've seen some video that show how easy it is to unbrick an GS3, but you need the the stock rom. So I want to make that first, then attempt to root. Can this be done in Odin? Do you know how to make a full backup of a phone?

Thanks!
