I'm wondering if Sprint isn't forcing Sammy to hold off until HTC can catch up, I just can't think of any other reason for us not to have it yet, or at least a firm date.
With all the Androidy clout that HTC has, I don't see that happening. Besides, HTC would release it in Europe and on Verizon anyway and Sprint would look foolish.
really who knows who has any agreements with who? You could be quite right, but it's all just speculation anyway. At least we're getting it... although a potential six months hurts a bit.

Wow, potential 6 month wait. If it takes that long I'm not even sure I'd even care any more. My gf will have this hero and ill be on to something else.

Sorry, but that's just absurd imo.
I agree. If they said first half, they must mean it. Otherwise they would've said first quarter. So we're looking, probably, at April at the earliest, but wouldn't be surprised if it's right around June 30th.
Who knows what version of Android will be out by then, and what new features we'll get to miss out on next.
Device(s): Samsung Moment (stock DJ07, Recovery 3.1.1, Rooted, removed most bloatware)

This indicates Sense UI already running on Android 2.1. My guess is Samsung is under-resourced and that is delaying the upgrade. Making Bada OS work to compete against iPhone is hard work.

I suppose this is possible, but I would think the work required to get 2.0 on the Moment would be minimal, if any at all.
Seriously though, how peeved will every Sprint owner be if VZ gets a 2.0 update before we do? I dont mean by a few days. If they are slated to get updated in the 1Q of 2010 and we "sometime in 1H 2010", thats up to a 3 month difference.
Im guessing Sprint may just be giving HTC (more then) enough time to finish working on it. As it doesnt sound like its finished just yet.

One of my friends has a Verizon and she was telling me that 2.o was exclusive for them for 2009, and that that sprint and others would get it later then the deal date ends... is this true? She works at walmart and i know they sell all the carriers phone so i didnt know if this was true or not.

I'm not sure if anyone knows if that's true or not. It may just be that Verizon really wanted 2.0 to set their phone apart, so they got a rushed 2.0, and other companies are waiting until 2.0 is more stable before updating their phones.
I would rather wait and make sure it's right and not rush them. I dealt with rushed software upgrades on CNC machinery and sometimes it isn't pretty. I know this is a phone, I still want it right.
