That does look awesome. I was thinking I wanted a Nexus S 4G but this new phone has specs that demand attention.

It IS dual core. Taken from Wikipedia on the 8660:

I'm going to have some tough decisions this summer or whenever these devices are released:

Motorola Xoom vs. HTC EVO VIEW 4G

Motorola Atrix 4G vs. HTC EVO 3D

First time EVER since I've been with Sprint (back in 99-00) that I'd actually be deciding between 2 different phones. As much as I love my current EVO ever since I bought it at launch, I seriously didn't think Sprint would release a phone (let alone 2) that would actually make me upgrade again (so soon).

The tablets, well, that decision will depend on which one works best for my work needs, so not as much a priority.

I hope the Specs on the Evo 3D are true. I remember all the hype around the Evo and supposed specs. Needless to say it wasnt quite what it was "thought" to be. Needless to say its a very good device and I'm happy with mine.

Please let these specs be true. It would be awesome.

I was thinking all I wanted was a Nexus S 4G. Unless it comes with some upgrades over the GSM model, I might just have to go with the Evo2/3D. That's just way too much horsepower to ignore. Plus it drops with Gingerbread, which means it will get 2.4 for sure.

Evo 3D specs are sick

4.3-inch 3D qHD capacitive 960 x 540 px display
1730 mAh battery
4GB internal memory with 8 GB SD card, expandable to 32 GB
1 GB RAM
1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon CPU
Android 2.3
Dual 5 MP rear cameras (3D)
1.3 MP Front camera
records 2D @ 1080p, 3D @ 720p
Dimensions = 5.0 x 2.6 x .48 inches
DNLA support and HDMI port

So it should be 0.2 inches taller than the current Evo, the same width, and ever so slightly thinner (0.02 inches). Niceeee

Evo 3D is going to be a beast if those specs ring true.

It will be interesting to see how the competition responds, especially Apple. Judging by CES, Verizon won't have a good response for awhile.

Verizon is banking on the T-bolt and Bionic at least until summer and iPhone5, but I don't see either of those getting the press or mind-share that the Evo 3D will.

Default New Evo 3D at CTIA next week?

Hey guys. I bet almost none of you remember me. I still remember being here way before the Evo was even official. Its hard to believe that it is almost one year since launch day.

But anyways, rumors are starting to spread about the new "Evo 3D" that Sprint will unveil this week at CTIA. Havent found any threads or subforums on here so I figured I'd make one. So post all rumors or anything related to the new Evo 3D here!

Good Point, I hope so too. I hardly ever use the kickstand, maybe two or three times a month, but when I do I always think to myself, Damn, that is one nice feature!

I will now get the Xoom on Sprint so I wont have to jump ship and get a Verizon 3G version, whats great will be that its going to be 4G right out of the box. I cant wait to see the actual specs and hopefully a few pics of the Evo 3D. I take it this phone will be unveiled on Monday?

Well it's hard to believe that it's almost another year but here we are. Seems like yesterday I was working the wee hours of the night to put the fit and finishing touches on the wimax radio/making sure qik would play nice with wimax. Then the gold copying of 4G enabled hotspot during the eleventh hour before sending off to Sprint (Good Times). I felt it was time to chime in again and answer some of the pressing questions about EVO 3d. I would like to first congratulate everyone that has been so critical to EVO’s success in providing information/tips/tricks etc on the Android Forums EVO 4G threads. I know my company has been reading that thread like a religious book since EVO was referred to a Supersonic. Everything that was EVO and is EVO today is being put into what you the fans want in your EVO of tomorrow. Your knowledge and your talent inspired us to create the best EVO (We hope) ever.
Since I am a fan of the site, I want to share with you information that hasn't been released yet and information that I've been given the green light to release to the thread.
Start off by saying it is a "HTC EVO 3D and 4G" and not "LG" Yes gingerbread and something has not been mentioned Sense UI 2.0 Finally when your EVO is propped up on It's kickstand it will automatically go into landscape on all window screens.
The one thing that you guys talked about was full hdmi out. I admit we got robbed on that one. The price you pay for being first. I didn’t have anything to do with that one, but I would admit to be a bit impressed a phone was able to play a movie on a HDTV a year ago. “Orrebmas” your efforts did ping our radar. I am sure you will find nothing but fortunes on the android market with that fine software. Full HDMI will no longer be an issue. We ran it, tested it, on HDTV’s and 3DHDTV’s. Games, google, pictures, 3DPOV, and yes 3d movies all look awesome right out of the box.
Answer one of the more recent questions yes the new EVO will have a kickstand. I guess that was answered up above, but the new kickstand will be beefier and contoured to the back side of the case. The curved kickstand will allow the EVO to stand better at attention if you will. HTC logo will be on the back like the original EVO, but EVO 3D will be lithographed on the kickstand metal as well. Smart move cause with your protective cover on and the phone face down. Nobody could tell what phone it was. Now they will.
I know there was some flak on the recent GLBenchmarks and we caught hell for it around here as well. I just wanted to let you know that fit and finish on that has been polished out. Memory allocation was only single set data stream and we have now been able to utilize duel data stream with a bump in memory clock speeds. I guess you could use the analogy of SDRAM compared to DDRAM.
Scorpion chip set is very OC friendly; I can’t say what we were able to overclock the cpu’s to. Please no question on that one. I can say that we were able to almost double our GLbench scores with just the memory fix though.
The larger battery is the real. I can’t say what the final battery size is though. I can say from 8am to 6pm under stress test no need to plug in.
HTC EVO 3D does have two processors, which everyone here has seen on GLBenchmark site (Who Knew!) Important thing to mention is they take up less real estate then a single snapdragon processor die..Clue on power consumption.

I guess the last one that guys might like to know is that the front facing camera, is not 1.3mp. The one we have in house is 3mp. The back ones can’t be discussed right now, but they do have some cool tricks other than stereoscopic.

I always felt that it would be a cold day in you know what before I turn my EVO over specially after all the customization, ROMS, Tweaking, Benchmarking, and showing my 4.3in screen size to Apples boy like screen size. Update! All those tweaks, they will work on the new EVO with very little effort. Devs can rejoice.

Lastly, the battery form factor is interchangeable, but you are not going to need to though.

I’ll stop in from time to time. I have no clue on release date. I have to admit that one does make me laugh. I remember the original EVO release date was publicly announced and we still had gold work left. It was unlimited OT for almost a month straight. I have to say we did understand what the fans wanted and the time line they wanted it in, but it was/is a product we believed in. I think most can agree we crammed in a good amount fun factor considering it was a year ago. EVO still is one of the finest phones in the market, heck in the world for that matter. I know the same effort is going to be expected by all companies involved this time around too. Please keep putting up your wish list of items, doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, but doesn’t mean we can’t squeeze it in (Somehow) Enjoy the show.
Cheers,

Is there any official word out on how much internal memory the phone will have? I am hoping for at least 8GB. I see someone posted 4GB above. I just think a phone like this would need more. But either way I think I have found my next phone.

The data ports and jacks are still located at the top and bottom. The EVO 3D is more at home in landscape mode with the kickstand out. I can't go into dimensions, but it's an improvement.

@L8AGIN BGR was close but not quite. There is a twist on how things work inside and hence the lack luster/accidental posting of GLbenchmarks. It is std affair 1gig RAM and 4gig ROM, with cavet. Depending on the needs of the 2nd processor and software applications 4gig ROM will act like RAM. This takes a bit of hardware/software trickery, but it is working. Clock speeds can't discuss, but this too has proven to be OC friendly. I guess you could look at as tri-channel memory like a higher end tri channel memory configuration in a WinVista/Intel 1366DDRAM setup. 1gig RAM will stay Dual Channel, Until the need for Tri-Channel then ROM becomes RAM. So while they will be classified as 4gigs of ROM, Physically speaking there really RAM Silicon. This is a first in the industry, but saves alot on real estate this way. Hope that helps to clear that up. Good luck to a blogsite trying to describe it. It's new hear, but really cool, and pretty sensible.

I think it is so funny that a month ago everyone was talking about how lame Sprint is and way behind the competition in terms of products offered, even though the EVO was released "late" in the season last year and everyone (including me) loves their EVOs so much Wow, so much to choose from...glad I sat on that upgrade I have! And yes, I will get it because the last time that line was upgraded was in 2008 (my parents' "dumbphone" line). Ohhhhh yeaaaahhhhh!

Will you be a gold or silver premier member at that time?

I use my google voice number for work calls, so not sure how this would make any difference for me.

Doh...April 1 will signify the change in Premier status, so if you haven't been with Sprint for at least 10 years or you don't have a plan that spends more than a certain amount per month (can't remember the exact minimum plans), your full upgrade date will change to 22 months (which will add 10 months to the current upgrade date). I believe that brings you to April 2012 until you're eligible for full upgrade.

As dan said below, I'd give a call into Sprint prior to the April 1 changes, just to see if there's anything they can do to help you keep your full eligible upgrade date as of June.

Oh, if you're almost at 10 years, just email them. Initially, they thought my 10 year would be next year, so they were going to make an exception for me after I emailed them (granted, it was also through business csr). It eventually ended up being a moot point for me, after they reviewed their records because my 10 year had already gone by in 2010.

I don't believe half of what that guy says. Not because I don't believe him but because if wrong then it's a huge disappointment to us.

Plus things are already not lining up. Like the FF cam being 3 MP and it's 1.3

there are a lot other things that dont line up too.. but i will reserve final judgment till full specs are released.

1. size has been said to be taller but thinner... he says different

2. he said that the og evo was worked on till the very last day of release.. but the evo was given away at the google io... over a month before release. so how did they make changes to those?

but... again... i am hopeful..

One change I do remember from Google io versions of the EVO to the retail version was the speaker grill (red for Google io version and silver for production/retail).

I dont remember that but if they did it was more likely because they wanted to set it apart from the DInc. Which has red speaker grills and camera ring.

Like I said I don't remember it having a red one.

Maybe you're right. I'm going all on memory. Maybe it was the prototypes I was thinking of, not the ones released to customers at google io.

Someone posted something about 1:30pm EST for the Sprint announcement, but I don't know if that's confirmed or a guess.
