Default Sprint needs more android phones.

Is it me or does it seem that every other carrier out there besides Sprint keeps adding and promoting new Android phones?

You serious? Have you even looked at whats coming down the pipeline for Sprint? I would hardly think they are behind any carrier in Droid offerings. I'm just happy they didnt release some atrocity like the Atrix.

yes.. i am serious.

check sprint history of phones. always.. on the small selection. Evo was the few times they leap ahead of the others.

and look at the prices.. and deals.
epic is the exception to the rule.
EVO vs Inspire vs thunderbolt.. evo is stuck at 200 and 8 months old.

I agree that Sprint was in a huge slump before the Evo. That's mainly because they made a stupid deal for Nextel and had to waste a lot of resources fixing their mistake.

I think starting with the Evo, Sprint is turning themselves around. They're still in poor shape, but it's a start. I do consider Evo to be the best Android phone before 2011. While personally I disliked the Epic, it was a good Android phone. People who wanted a physical keyboard didn't have to get the Evo, and they didn't have to go to Verizon. Evo Shift, while not revolutionary, is still a decent Android.

Now in 2011, we're seeing lots of next-gen dual core phones being released everywhere but Sprint. But Sprint is getting the big Momma again with the Evo 3D in a few months. I believe the Xperia Play is coming to all carriers. Nexus S is coming to Sprint. All excellent phones. The way I see it, I'd rather have fewer, better choices in phones than a ton of choices that are more or less the same.

I actually think we're going to see more defections to Sprint this year with the phone lineup. Evo 3D is going to be a crowdpleaser, and nexus always has a decent following.

Sprint had the 7" Galaxy Tab for a while now. And yeah we didn't get the Xoom first, but given how it was rushed onto Verizon, I'm glad it wasn't made available for Sprint at that time.

And if Sprint is smart, they'll subsidize the Xoom more than what Verizon was willing to. At its current pricepoint over at Verizon, it will never do well.

Does anyone know when another Android with a keyboard is gonna be released? The EVO shift doesn't work because there is no forward facing camera.

Hmmm... I don't find the Atrix an atrocity, in fact I really like my Atrix.

Yep, I agree they need to bring the Xoom and HTC View in at 499 or better

I was just hoping for a better dual core. A buddie of mine has one, and the screen is really cloudy for a video centric device. The Camcorder is pretty rough compared to an iPhone(We both play golf and use the phones to record swings). And that dock, holly crap is it $$.

I mean I guess I hear what you are saying but really it shapes up to something like this; Currently each provider has:
Verizon - 11 Android phones with 1 being 4g
AT&T - 7 Android phones with 2 being "4g"
T-Mobile - Like 13 Android Phones (their site makes it frustrating to count) w 5 "4g"
Sprint - 8 Android phones with 3 4g

This doesn't include tablets or hotspots/modems but I would say Sprint is about where they should be considering their size. T-Mobile is ridiculous with the amount of devices they are offering (personal opinion), AT&T Cripples the phones, and Verizon has the Motos with locked boot loaders. At the end of the day it is all about your personal preference and opinion but I would rather have a few quality devices coming out over the year. Not saying Sprint's are all quality (Umm the Echo? What the f$%k were they thinking?) but they are mostly all solid choices.

Unless you collect phones, does it really matter? Honestly, I upgrade maybe once every 2 years. If they have a good phone, I will upgrade, if they don't, I will not.

How many phone they carry is kind of pointless. The evo is more then enough phone for 99% of the power users.

Nexus will support the modding groups, and evo 3d will help the trendy group.

Penwell and medfield are coming out late this year. Trust me, got to play with one at a trade show a few days ago, desktop type experience on your phone.

I agree with RiverOfIce, I only upgrade at upgrade time and i try to get the best phone I can afford lol. I got the Hero last time and I am very happy with it, I am hoping to get the Evo or the Evo 3d next time, of course I have around a year to go still so there is no telling what will be out by then
