Lol. I hear that all the time, "it makes me dizzy, or hurts my eyes". It does take some getting use to. But I love taking nature shots with the 3vo. Just wish it had a better camera. If it had the camera of the One X, this phone would really be great in my opinion.

It's really just my unique experience. I get dizzy trying to play 1st person shooter games and watching 3d that has a lot of movement.

I even got some great tips from Earlymon when the 3d came out, but even those didn't help. Basically, the same way people can't stand pentile screens, that's how sensitive I am towards 3d, especially when compressed to a smaller viewing area.

My wife is sensitive with some 3D movies also. When we went to see Avatar at the Imax it almost made her sick. It just has that affect on some people. 3D really isn't for everyone. I just like having the option.

Anybody going to Google I/O? I'm really hoping something more "formal" will be announced as far as Motorola's offering or offerings for Sprint this year. The single sliding qwerty device having been leaked (MoPhoQ ?) isn't enough for me to be comfortable knowing what my options will be come late October/Early November (if I wait that long).

Geez, It's just across the Bay from me. I wish I could go. I just couldn't justify the time off to go. I'm sure it's going to be very interesting. I'd expect a few "big announcements." I'm hoping that one of them would be something about a Motorola offering on Sprint. But who really knows?

Never say never. I've lived long enough to come to that conclusion. One never knows what may "leak" even without an announcement at such a convention.

And this is the first Google I/O where Google owns a manufacturer. So, things could be different this year.

Except Google has said over and over and over that Moto will remain separate. Motor announcing devices at I/O won't make any manufacturer happy.

From a development standpoint, I would rather not have 3D as a phone feature. I'm hoping that next year around CTIA we'll see the next behemoth EVO, which I will be purchasing if it has the Krait S4 Pro SoC.

I'm sure next year we will see quad-core LTE Evo. I like the option of having 3D there if one uses it or not its up to them. From a development standpoint I can see that it might be something that is not easy to work around in making apps and other things. But I'm sure we won't have to worry about them making one anymore. Too many people complained about the 3D feature. I don't see how anyone could make money with it. But I find it interesting that Virgin Mobile is selling it. Maybe they are selling all the left over 3Ds that Sprint couldn't sell. lol. I just think with a better camera the 3VO would have been a much better phone.

Yeah, I'm sure that 3D is cool for many people. I'm afraid the Evo 3D made me dizzy from the first moment I looked at it. The technology they used just doesn't work for me in a good way. I like the concept. I'm not sure that it's very practical and even if it didn't make me dizzy, I'm not sure I'd have a use for it on a phone. Just my 2 cents... FWIW

I really like my LTevo.....but my og MoPho was a great device! Quite tough, and I really liked the dialer as well as Moto Blur..... The predictive text was great too.....LTevo isn't a disappointment, I just find I miss the way the MoPho worked.....I may look at getting rid of LTevo when the new MoPho comes out.

Yep, it's real. No official word on a keyboard, but it seems logical the Q will have a slider.

If it doesn't I might consider this phone, I miss having a Moto phone. Has to have no keyboard, capacitive buttons, or locked bootloader for me to consider it though.

I'm hoping for both. I need one with a keyboard that'll be replacing the iphone 4s for my family member and a non-qwerty for me on my last 1 year upgrade!

Funny thing is, regardless of which device I end up with, I'll still be keeping my moPho as a dedicated media player and international phone.

Wow, a high end slider?

That might be the upgrade for WifelyMon's Shift. Maybe not getting her an early LTEvo upgrade was just good karma.

Very interesting!

It's really tempting to go into Best Buy and pre-order a white LTEvo...but, I'm trying my best to use my will power to wait.

This is slightly off topic since it is not Android, but...
Rumor is that Sprint may get some Nokia devices in the future? Possibly a part of the Lumia line? The rumor word must be stressed because I don't see how the reports connected the dots to include Sprint from the original interview...

Report: Nokia VP: Pureview will come to Lumia devices very soon, Sprint and Verizon will get Lumias | WMPoweruser
Reblogged and reposted by alot of the news feeds, with extra flair.
Original Interview:Interview: Nokia's Richard Kerris on Windows Phone 8, Verizon and so much more - Neowin

Even Kerris himself disregards parts of the story posted/reblogged.
https://twitter.com/richardkerris/status/222127052533411840

Anyways part of the story that is real and not rumor, is that eventually there will be a Lumia handset with PureView technology on board.

While I'm not sure if that means a Lumia phone will get the exact same camera hardware as seen on the 808 (41MP, Zeiss optics, 1.5" sensor, f/2.4, etc.) or if it means that they are working on bringing the same back end technology (oversampling of pixels, dedicated camera processor, zoom, etc.) to other camera hardwares?

I Like to play devil's advocate though.
(I have doubted from when the 808 has been rumored that it would never be anywhere near Sprint. If in fact Sprint does eventually get a Lumia, I have my doubts that it will have PureView technology on board.)

What if Sprint got a Lumia Phone with Pureview 808 camera hardware?
For me it would be a HUGE trade off since the Lumia line have been Windows Phones, and PureView so far is on Symbian Belle. I don't have personal experience with either OS, but I don't like the idea of moving from Android to the "lesser" OS's.
Another huge trade off for having the extremely nice Nokia PureView camera is having worse hardware overall. At least so far this has been the case. Particularly the SCREEN, chassis, processor, graphics, form factor, mobile radios, etc. have been stepped down to account for the extra costs.

I really wish Nokia was with Android, and that they would go all in and create a top of the line, high spec. phone, with the exact PureView 808 camera hardware or better. And then bring it to Sprint. A "struggling" phone manufacturer teaming up with a "struggling" phone carrier would be a cool plan. It would probably prove unsuccessful in the long run, but might keep things floating for a while?

Interesting stuff. I like to let my brain wander, and rumors fuel it (whether they are unsubstantiated or not)

I Like to play devil's advocate, though I have doubted since the 808 has been rumored that it would ever be anywhere near Sprint.

I feel worse about any phones connected to Microsoft than I do about trusting Samsung. After being a diehard Windows Mobile guy for 4 years, I just couldn't trust Windows with regards to mobile devices (despite the complete change to Windows Phone vs. Windows Mobile). I've heard it is much better and nowhere near as unreliable as Windows Mobile was, but it's not enough for me to ever go back.

Android has provided me with everything I wanted Windows Mobile to be (easier to customize without jumping through hoops and without needing to root), while at the same time still being able to do all the "extra" customizations that I was able to do on Windows Mobile (via rooting). There are only a few customizations I was able to accomplish with Windows Mobile that I won't be able to do, unless I root (e.g. change the startup sound, change the shutdown sound, change the toolbar/notification bar color). Other than those small things, I'm able to accomplish all those small things very easily without needing to find a random file on the internet (via search) in order to download and then install onto the phone.

Microsoft already burned that bridge for me to ever re-consider them, no matter how much they try and convince me that it's "better" or "more efficient" or whatever other tag lines they use to increase Windows Phone sales.

Exactly. We're all in this camp, or a similar one, I feel. You've got some extra incentive.

I just hate seeing nice hardware that we don't get a chance at.
A buddy at work just un-boxed his new 808 this morning (unlocked AT&T, Belle OS). I can only enjoy it vicariously.

I would love to see an official Lumia running Android, that would be one hell of a nice phone. Rumors have swirled since Nokia announced they had a "back-up" in case their partnership with Microsoft/Windows Phone doesn't pan out like they hope it will.

ooh...I wonder if LG's 1st attempt using their own quad-core processor will be on the LG Eclipse?

LG to produce its own quad-core processor | News | TechRadar

Even though the early rumors/leaks were of a device with a qualcomm dual-core, I'd be interested to see how LG's quad-core processor does. I can wait until September for sure, if it means making a "thorough" decision on my last 1 year upgrade.

Although, it's going to be hard not to jump on getting a White LTEvo this coming weekend, since I'm already eligible for upgrade.

AND, I hope Motorola does the same promotion for all upcoming phones (including the Photon Q...and hopefully non-qwerty version, if I can dream up that possibility...LOL), where they'll include the car dock!

They likely have a "number" in mind, as far as sales are concerned. If they don't hit that number, I wouldn't be surprised to see an Android partnership form.

I have heard the specs aren't that great

Has anyone ever had a white phone before? If so how dirty do they get?

I think that's a 'bit of a subjective question. "Dirty" to some might not have quite the same meaning to others. I also think it depends on how people are with their devices. I constantly wipe my phones down and keep them as clean as possible, but I'm nowhere near as meticulous as others that might even take a toothbrush and scrub their phone cases/covers down.

I had the white EVO, prior to moving on to the MoPho. I noticed that I was much more meticulous at keeping it clean, just not wanting the white to look "dirty" with scuffs. That said, it wasn't that difficult at all to keep it clean. Maybe a little more work than darker colored phones, but not by much.

I have. I had a white iPhone 3GS before I made the switch to Android. I really like the look of white phones and never had a problem with it getting dirty. I am sure it all depends on your lifestyle (work and play) though.

That being said, if this years Nexus is released in a white version, that will be my next phone.

Official - White EVO releasing this Sunday (7/15), but exclusive to Sprint-owned sales channels?:
Sprint Newsroom | Sprint Debuts HTC EVO 4G LTE in White on July 15 for $199.99

Quote:
HTC EVO 4G LTE will be available in white beginning Sunday, July 15, exclusively in all Sprint-owned sales channels, including Web Sales (Sprint) and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1), for $199.99 with a new line of service or eligible upgrade and two-year service agreement (excludes taxes). HTC EVO 4G LTE launched in May and is currently available in an anodized black
Well, good thing I'm waiting it out until all the superphones are released. Best Buy will be my upgrade store of choice, especially because I get an instant $50 credit from them, for each of the 2 upgrades I'll be doing. Hopefully, the white LTEvo will eventually be available through 3rd party retailers at some point.

I know the official press release says it will have a silver kickstand for sure, but...

Rumor/render? White panels and silver/aluminum body?

Wow, really? That would really bump it up to #1 choice on my list. I wish we could zoom into November, so all of the superphones can be out and available and I'll be able to make a solid choice for my last 1 year upgrade.

Hard to say without having the phone in hand, but I think I liked the all white renders better. A silver kickstand with an all white body would be fair enough, but the aluminum/silver body kind of degrades the look for me personally...

I hate to be the little devil on your shoulder whispering in your ear...
The cost is very prohibitive, but you could get the White Evo 4G LTE from Sprint at full retail cost now and then use your upgrade and credit at Best Buy for a different phone of your choosing later before the end of the year. Whichever phone you like least you can sell later for near what you paid for it. With your upgrade and credit added in I imagine you could break even on the whole thing. The path could also lead to destruction.

I thought about doing this with the Evo LTE and Galaxy S 3, but couldn't find it in my budget to buy one at full retail cost.

LOL...You just know that I'd be crazy enough to do it, Pyro!...hahahaha.

Really, the only thing preventing me from doing that is the fact that I'll be keeping the MoPho as a dedicated international phone (when travelling outside the country) and also using it as my dedicated music player (primarily for the car).

Yeah, ever since I purchased my house, the budget for toys has gone practically out the window. I'm still loving my MoPho enough to be patient and wait, but seeing all these reviews on the LTEvo and SGS 3 has gotten me a little antsy.

We're both that crazy.

But not this crazy. This is phone juggling at its finest:
Maybe you better start practicing.

P.S. Our OT chatter can be moved or deleted at your discretion.
Just moved our discussion over to the upcoming Sprint phone thread. I think it's applicable to discussing others that are waiting to see what else comes out.

In my case it was getting married, but exact same boat. I'm a little fanatical about checking various websites for new rumors of upcoming phones. Damn it, I want all my options on the table already!

Well I just got me the Galaxy Nexus few weeks ago. I'm a very patient person but I just couldnt wait anymore lol. I just wanted to try something different. To put it simple....I love this phone! This phone will keep be busy until the fall lineup. There's going to be some quadcore beast phones coming up and the rumored multi Nexus devices.
