I've considered this too (minus pre-paid, but hopping to another provider for my line only). Cancelling my line and buying the Nexus 4 when it hits the G.P.S., which would be activated on T-Mo's Unlim plan.

Yeah that Nexus 10 would be interesting. Not really interested in getting a tablet at this time but we'll see.

On a side note, I just got 4G signal for the first time this morning. On and off though. But its something.

It's possible, as someone else noted, that the first version available will only be GSM/HSPA+, but the next Nexus will have LTE. You can count on it. I for one really hope Google ditches the "carrier exclusive" approach of the past three Nexus phones and makes them available on all carriers at the same time (more or less). I know that's kind of unlikely, but a man can dream.

If they were to put LTE radios in the next Nexus, how do they decide which LTE radios to place in the device? By that account, Google would have to quadruple the amount of Nexus devices they create and have available for off contract/unlocked purchase. All 4 Major carriers don't have the same LTE radios in the US. If they included LTE radios, I'd assume they'd go with European standard, since that would be a wider spread area for them, which would do nothing for customers in the US.

There are a few LTE sites up in the Bronx and I feel there will be way more soon. Sprints' partners seems to be picking up the pace.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPad mini w/LTE to be added on to the list.
Although 15 devices were projected for the year, one more device wouldn't be out of the question.

Let's hope there's still room for at least one more device for this year (NEXUS).

Sprint Plug-in-Connect Tri-Mode USB Fact Sheet
1 Ipad LTE revealed through Techno Buffalo

All of the 15 devices have been released/announced. The ZTE Flash and the iPad LTE are the only ones without a "formal" Sprint press release.

Anybody think there'll be more than the 15 that were mentioned at the beginning of the year? I'm pegging the LG Mach and ZTE Flash to go on Sale mid-December, at the same time, since they're both "mid-range" devices. Looks like the Optimus G will likely be the last Superphone available this year.

I guess we'll have to wait for any Sprint Nexus news until after the holidays. Disappointing, but not the end of the world. I was expecting a lot more from Sprint. However, this would explain why they are going on a fire sale on Black Friday w/ the SGS3 ($50).

For a 5 inch device, this Sony looks pretty darn nice:
Sony Odin Pictures Leak Online; Is it sexier than the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? - Tapscape

I actually love Sony's styling on their devices. Unfortunately, there's never been a Sony Android device on Sprint, but I sure wish Sprint would start considering them (maybe it was too expensive for them, in the past).

The 5 inch version looks to be fairly small, as compared to what I imagined, so I wonder how the 6.1 inch version is going to look/feel?

Spank had nothing to do with it. That is all Sprints doing. Any real effects of a Softbank hand in play won't be felt at least till the 1st quarter of next year at the earliest and fully felt in April 2013.

It is confirmed that the iPad mini will also be on Sprint, so that brings the total up to 16 LTE devices. Seems that Sprint undercounted their number of LTE devices to the public, because....

This. I feel that Sprint isn't done yet with spitting out LTE devices before the Year is up. I see a Nexus device (maybe even two) and one last Tablet.

Off-topic mode: ON
The way I see it, this is only the beginning folks. Folks love to down play Sprint, its services, reps, plans, phones and LTE, but if there was ever a company that has overcome what many feared was a path to self destruction and bankruptcy, this is it. Their rollout is planning as scheduled, they have a very good lineup of devices, unlimited, customer service is award wining and they are getting the financial backing they need to finish the job. A sleeping hobbit is now soon to be a very outspoken giant in the industry. I am just glad I am with them and part of it to see it.
Off-topic mode: OFF

Go Sprint.

Now bring the Padphone and Note 10.1 and call it a day. (Until next years line up)

TS out

They go by carrier. Look at the Sprint Nexus S or the GNex for example.

If a carrier commits to a Nexus, they can have it.

I think you missed the point of my post, EM. Past Nexus devices were based on "exclusives" (e.g. 1 Nexus device every year). Now that the speculation is that Google has changed the strategy to multiple Nexus phones (from different manufacturers), there's no way that Google is going to initially offer those phones with the different radios needed (including the different LTE radios), while also having them unlocked/off-contract. I was mainly trying to point out to CC that it's an impossible request to have Google demand LTE radios be placed in all of the Nexus phones that they'll be selling through the play store. If they did include LTE radios, it'd be specific to International / unlocked LTE, rather than any of the US domestic.

When it comes to the specific carriers, they'll likely decide on which of the Nexus devices best suit their needs (so I see them offering maybe 1 or 2 of the multiple devices that are to be created).

No, I don't think that I misunderstood at all.

Go to the Play Store and buy a GNex for Sprint or Verizon.

You can't.

Hence my statement, a Nexus will be available from any carrier that commits to offering it.

I don't know, but I would be surprised if there wasn't a minimum order requirement.

If that commitment were made for three Nexii, then three Nexii would be offered.

If Google wants to penetrate the and saturate the market, all they need provide is the changed kernel. Or under Nexus certified, let the makers do that.

So, I sort of thought that I was saying the same thing.

So.. ummm.. Drex

About this Scenario choice - look at that HTC J Butterfly and tell me you don't think it looks awesome! And c'mon, HTC screen @ 1080!!!!! That needs no words!

Yes they may disappoint with no removable battery, but the more I think about that, the more I wonder why I can't just start using a battery pack to alleviate that concern.

We'll get a new HTC 5" phone this spring, of that I have no doubt. Don't you want to leave yourself open to get one of those too?

I actually think it looks nice, but not spectacular. One of the main selling points on the note 2,for me, is the s-pen. HTC used to be the goto company for integrated stylus. Samsung took it to a different level. And I should add that I hated the flyer stylus they had. So much lag in comparison.

I think you misunderstood my post. Note that I said it was entirely possible that the first Nexus available would be GSM/HSPA+ only, without LTE radios. However, given that the Gnex has LTE-capable models, the new Nexus will undoubtedly have them as well. Hence, the new Nexus will have LTE. Maybe not right away, but it will. This was all in response to the rumors circulating that the new Nexus will not have LTE.

And to be honest, I would not be surprised if the first Nexus available did indeed have LTE radios compatible with AT&T, or even Verizon. Remember that Verizon's iPhone 5 supports multiple LTE bands, and comes unlocked.

Edit: I just realized that Verizon's unlocked iPhone 5 doesn't mean you can use someone else's LTE, just that you can pop a GSM SIM into it and use it on AT&T or whoever. I honestly don't know if you could use a Verizon iPhone 5 on another LTE network.

AWESOME!
I've had this phone 3 weeks to the day & getting JB already.

I FINALLY picked the right phone, one that's being supported by both the manufacturer & carrier.

Perfect timing for S3 and new Note 2 owners to both be walking around doing multi-tasking...Can you say "strategic marketing?"...LOL.

I don't have the S3 but that's great news looking towards the future. Samsung is really dominating right now and getting software updates at a reasonable time rate. I've switched to Nexus but it gives me more confidence for dare I say...GS4?

Wow I missed this post. lol I'm not due for an upgrade until 2014. But if the GS4 comes out with specs that I can't simply ignore, I'll pay full price.

Anyone who REALLY wants jb is already running it on a nexus device or is rooted and running it anyway.

The official update is nothing more than bragging rights for the manufacturer

I strongly disagree. To the general consumers, that's definitely important to them. That goes beyond bragging rights.

Of course it's bragging rights, providing a product w/the features everyone wants, in a timely manner.

One needs to look no further than the MO'PHO, promises that were never delivered.
Rooting/ROMS is not always the answer, as many, but not all ROMS seem to have some basic flaws. (see PHOTON broken 4G when unlocked).

As for the NEXUS line, the stock ANDROID experience is tops, but, the hardware to date is less than stellar.

Did you see those pics of Verizon's Note 2? OMG. That home button. It looks like a cheap toy with Verizon's label plastered on it. And here I thought Sammy would have enough clout to keep such awfulness off their devices from now on.

LOL...I felt bad, but at the same time kept thinking, "Thank you, Sprint, for not doing that!" I bet people cover that thing up with some kind of colored skin/screen protector.

That Verizon thread is getting a bit rough over that home button and no 32Gb. lol

The only thing I like about Verizon is cable here in NYC, beats Time Warner in price (but I do miss NY1) but phones and plan wise, they suck. guess being a duopoly makes them dictate what they want on a device and go against the rest in the group.

I'm guessing w/some careful masking of the area surrounding the home button, one could lightly sand off the logo or use a solvent (acetone, etc..) on a cotton swab.

Anyone wanna try one of these methods out on a demo @ their local VZW store? (w/the store managers' approval, of course).

Really? I come back after going out tonight and friends confiscating my phone so I can't check the forums and there's really no info from the New York event? Pffft

There are people on Sprint site saying that a Corp Sprint store confirmed 32gb would be available online but I still see nothing official. More misinformed folks or did I miss something?

Looks like stores are not counting on big sales though, so many will be sold out. Hmmm.. I may just order online and not worry about it.

Supposedly $399.00 which makes sense, but I'm still not holding out hope. Maybe I'll just wait until there's a purple one released. Wait.. purple and 128GB!

yeah that Sprint community forum post states that two places are claiming to have the 32GB Note 2, the Sprint store on 170 Broadway in lower manhattan and the other at the Newport Mall in Jersey City. price $399 for the 32GB, but since every time I call them tonight I got a busy signal, I could not confirm. I called a few other stores and everyone else is saying 16GB. So i do not know whether to believe it.

Their new logo will be Yellow box with black NOW inside that. The O in Now will be the green Clearwire Swish with two grey horizontal lines (Softbank) inside that! I guess if Metro must be a part of it, they could keep the Unlimit Yourself line at the bottom of the yellow box. Or just go back to Sprint PCS.

Ok, you'll just have to use your brain to imagine cuz I'm on a POS iMac and there's no way I'm going to use this to do it.. lol Oooohhh, but tomorrow someone can do a mock-up with their amazingly awesome Note 2!!!!!
