Really?? I'll give you this - _maybe _.

iPhone converts getting up to minute updates believe it - with an os years behind in features, Android needs those updates too, even though that defies reason. Apple showing off making upgrades years after the fact isn't as pertinent as the blogosphere says.

And we power users want the greatest. Want to stand stock JellyBean up against my tuned ICS rig? Forget butter, bring something better like Parkay because you're gonna lose.

Should we be getting more timely updates in keeping with our consumer rights? Absolutely, you bet, it's what we were promised.

But what the majority expects? Ok, I won't kick, but I will ask - which majority? What were they told what was meant by that?

You know?

It's the general consumer that drives majority of the sales. The main concept behind sales to the general consumer is making them feel that they have the latest and greatest, even if they don't know what the update does.

I concede that you work in marketing and I sincerely respect that.

I question neither the concept nor the premise.

I do question that the elusive class of the general, common consumer is known and quantified at all.

What objective data supports the claims to the claimed perspective?

That's my question, bias, and doubt.

You're right that I don't have numbers to quantify what the general consumer knows or doesn't know, however, if it were not the case that the general consumer wasn't the majority, none of the major marketing campaigns would be geared towards that demographic. None of the bloggers and websites would ever take into consideration the OEM UI in their reviews, criticize amount of internal storage. If the majority demographic were the root/modding community, then the marketing strategy would be completely different. After all, the main goal of these OEM's is to sell the products. Can we honestly say, as android fanatics, that we necessarily need to be sold on the specs of a phone or told wht they do? I don't believe so, at least not to the degree that they have to for the general consumer. The modding/root community already know they have the option to root, in order to keep their device current. The general consumer, not so much.

I don't question that the general consumer exists nor do I question the importance of the metric.

I question whether the general consumer is who the blogosphere, or our own impressions, is who we think that is.

And my faith in the quality of the news blogs is several orders of magnitude below my faith in the tooth fairy.

All of the 15 devices have been released/announced. The ZTE Flash and the iPad LTE are the only ones without a "formal" Sprint press release.

Anybody think there'll be more than the 15 that were mentioned at the beginning of the year? I'm pegging the LG Mach and ZTE Flash to go on Sale mid-December, at the same time, since they're both "mid-range" devices. Looks like the Optimus G will likely be the last Superphone available this year.
I like your list but, I think this version is a bit more clean and easier to read: Device release count & Dates - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

If you look carefully, DREX's list is actually more accurate (see SGS3 release date).

I can assure you I was not trying to discredit Drex in anyway. His list is great and I have referenced it many times. (Thanks Drex!) Just showing another version that, although less info provided, is quick and easy on the eyes.

I know you weren't discrediting DREX,just wanted to point it out, a tip of the hat, if you will, not only for the time he dedicates to the SPRINT FORUM, but, a long overdue THX for the job that he did maintaining the MO'PHO FORUM, before moving on to the NOTE2.

The kudos are extended to all who contribute here,to some of the coolest people I've ever come across anywhere.

You could use vbcode to create a table like structure to make it look like this..

Weekly Update for the ClearSpank Now Network!
Updated from 10/16/2012 post, due to "formal" releases being announced and final reveal of the 15th LTE device for Sprint.

New releases/Projections List:

No #Release OnModelNotesPre-Orders3rd parties

02 -04/22/2012LG Viper

05/24/2012HTC EVO LTEBest Buy orders coming in, Sprint pre-orders afterwards
06/02/2012HTC EVO LTE"Official" delayed LTEvo release date as announced by Sprint
04 -06/21/2012Samsung Galaxy S IIIDelayed to 1st weekend of July
07/01/2012Samsung Galaxy S III"Official" release date
05 -07/15/2012HTC EVO LTEWhite Version
06 -08/19/2012Motorola Photon Qaka XT897
07 -09/16/2012Samsung Galaxy Victory LTE
08 -09/21/2012iPhone

10 -11/11/2012LG Optimus GLS970 Launches for $20011/01/2012TBD

Only issue is one has to keep a master copy of the code somewhere to easily edit it to paste it back in a post, because trying to edit the code within the post itself would look like this below and one would rather shoot themselves trying. lol

Looks like the manual for the LG Nexus 4 leaked (on LG's own website, no less). It confirms that there will be a 16GB version. No word on carrier distribution of course, but at least it will have the option for more memory.

After the popularity & commercial success of the SGS III (w/removable battery & expandable storage) it'll be interesting to see how well this phone sells.

AFAIK, the Nexus devices have never really sold that well to the masses. The device seems to be more common among folk like you and I (power users).

Assuming it does make the journey to Sprint shortly down the road, I will likely use my upgrade in June to purchase it. I feel like I'm going to dedicate a shelf on my bookshelf to my phones like a shrine of sorts. I'll get some mantles and labels for each device lol.

Although it's wishful thinking at this point, but I wouldn't mind seeing a US version of the 7" Galaxy Note coming to the US and to Sprint.

So with the announcement that the LG Nexus 4 will be on the Google Play store for $299, is it safe to assume this is not coming to Sprint?

Not necessarily, the Galaxy Nexus was on the Google play store and also on Verizon. I wouldn't rule out a CDMA model. Sprint seems to be about 6 months behind for nexus devices, so I would expect about the same timeframe.

Yeah, looks like any CDMA variants will be announced later. Google has gone back to T-Mo for initial phone release here in the States, like they did with everything outside of the GNex. I find it amusing that T-Mo's landing page for the Nexus 4 touts their "nationwide 4G" network, when what they're getting with this Nexus is only HSPA+ 21 (not even the 42 they like to call 4G).

I still hold that an LTE version is coming, it just looks like it will be coming a lot later.

Not to mention how much T-Mobile is charging for this $300 phone..

Actually if you get it through Tmobile it will support HSPA+ 42

Huh. So Google is making more than one version? Why wouldn't the Play Store unlocked version support that right out of the box?

The only benefit I can see is the S4 Pro. The camera may be 13MP, but from what I have read and seen it's worse than all the 8MP out there. The screen would also be another benefit for some, but I prefer Amoled(I know, I know)
The fact that the Optimus G was just released without JB and the S3 just got JB makes me want to stay with the S3...or even go with the Note II.

I'm hoping because I'm using my upgrade for it.

I was all set on the Galaxy S3 until I watched the Nexus video last night.

Maybe, but it likely won't be this year since it seems that Sprint has already reached their device limit for the year.

So far Andy Rubin says there will be no CDMA versions. But that can change. Sprint always gets the Nexus phones months later. We'll see.

I could honestly see this remaining true. I mean really Sprint and Verizon have both done a great job of ruining the Nexus name. Look at how slow updates are on CDMA Nexus phones. The Nexus S 4G didn't get ICS for months after my wife's GSM Nexus had it via OTA.

The 2 things people love most about the Nexus line is the Android OS with out bloat and fast updates. You don't always get both of those with CDMA Nexus phones.

VZW was 110% worse than Sprint. Either way, both were poor supporters of the Nexus line. They need to release their binaries faster.

Funny thing about the SGS2:
TODAY ONLY it's free w/2yr contract w/SPRINT @ BEST BUY.
Might have to stop by & ask about that Titanium thang w/a TRI-LITHIUM Ion Battery......

My thoughts exactly on the titanium SGSII, "Really?"
If they added LTE to it, I could understand, as it is a still a good phone... but, anyways.

Sprint Flash, LG Mach, and Titanium SGSII on the 11th.
ZTE Flash may bring its 12MP camera to Sprint on November 11th with LG Mach following suit -- Engadget

Also, on the 11th, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=BW&date=20121101&id=15743329

And, Optimus G is available for pre-order.
http://phandroid.com/2012/11/01/lg-optimus-g-now-available-for-pre-order-from-sprint/

Also, it looks like all you LG Viper owners are getting ICS.

Amen! And the cool thing is, with the addition of the Flash, Sprint is now ahead of their 15 phone guarantee for the year. Pretty cool!

Also, I know some are hesitant about the LG Optimus G, because of their history with OS updates, but I cant help but wonder if now, since LG has a tight relationship with Google/Nexus, if that will improve. We shall see. Just thinkin, since Samsung wasn't always the greatest with updates, then they get Galaxy Nexus, and then, whatta ya know, the Sprint SGSIII is the first phone (non nexus) in the US upgraded to 4.1/Jelly Bean. I think the same could now happen with LG...

Interesting if true - I'd be looking for some improvements in their overlay as well.

On an HTC, you change a setting, it's good - I've read that on an LG for any number of setting changes, you have to reboot the phone.

LG's skin looks like a cheap imitation of TouchWiz to me. Definitely not a fan. The phone itself looks very nice, though.

Wait - I just caught that the Optimus G has a glass back. I must be slow or something.

Puts that out of the running for WifelyMon's next phone.

I thought WifelyMon needed a physical qwerty keyboard though. Neither the LG Mach or Photon Q will work for her?

Here's the upcoming specs on that one.
