I'm surprised they hadn't started doing this once oem's started offering phones with the same physical characteristics. Definitely is a logical way to differentiate

If I were seriously considering another upgrade between the One Max and the Note 3, I'd have to see the physical dimensions to truly make a decision between the two.

HTC’s Plus-Sized One Max Is A 6-Inch Phablet Said To Launch In September | TechCrunch

The lack of a microSD slot will always steer me away and I've made that known as a top priority for my needs, but others might not need that and would consider this over the Note 3.

I'm anticipating more and more leaks once we get into August.

Plus, you have to factor in the S-pen functions. Will the "One Max" carry something like that? If not, it won't compete in my book.

Yeah. I forgot to mention that, but early rumors had suggested that HTC was going to go back to the roots and try to integrate some sort of stylus. Whether it'll have a WACOM digitizer is also an additional question.

Okay, since the FCC approved both the Softbank and Clearwire transactions, I started thinking about the possibility of what other phones Softbank would ask Sprint to start over here, that none of the providers would have.

Then, I saw this Phandroid article posted a few minutes ago:

Samsung Galaxy Folder Android flip phone in the works?

That article got me thinking about when EarlyMon had posted up a link last year, to Softbank's website, with the multitude of phones that I had never seen in the US before.

Products | SoftBank

So, maybe that Samsung Galaxy flip phone could be a phone that might head over on Sprint, considering Softbank is the new majority owner? I know that it'd definitely be marketed to an older generation and those that have been stuck on their regular flip phones (and have a desire to stick with that form factor). I would definitely purchase that Galaxy Flip phone for my father, as I know that having the physical number pad would make it easy for him to dial people, while I could also keep his contacts maintained easily through Google. That phone would be a win-win situation for my situation (of course, not for my own personal use).

Like I mentioned in the other thread the powerhouse that is now Sprint Clearwire Softbank, I am sure that SCS will have better availability or clout to get these manufacturers to make devices available for the company to sell to customers.

That phone is cool, brings me back to the Star trek days lol but there is one area that Sprint is lacking of late (at least as shown on their website) that I've noticed and that is offering other devices such as laptops, and more tablets, etc.

Currently on their website all you see are iPad, iPad mini and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.

As illustrated in the image below, other than T-Mobile, Sprint doesn't have many in their line up.

Granted, I know one can use wifi on any tablet, laptop, or plug in a usb data card, but there are times that one needs a connection or are using a device that cannot use a usb datacard. It would be nice to see additional devices. Devices such as the Padphone, ATIVs, Duos, Transformers etc come to mind . I guess until the network is fully upgraded with all the frequencies I won't see more devices that take advantage of the frequencies, but one can dream.

With the new tethering option that Sprint started on the new plans, I could even see them doing away with offering tablets/laptops/netbooks with 3g/4g connectivity. Then again, with Softbank behind them, who knows what can happen now.

While I'd love to see them offering more of items like that, I'd only like to see them if they dramatically change the exclusive plans they have for 3g/4g enabled devices of that nature. Only reason I went with the HTC Flyer (wifi only) vs. the EVO (whatever they called the tablet version w/ 3g/4g wimax) is because the tablet plans were ridiculously high. $29 per month for unlimited tethering vs. $29 per month for limited data was really mind boggling for me. I even explained it to the rep in store and he realized that there wasn't much more he could say that would make it justifiable.

Those sketches are missing a very critical part of the Note III, which makes me doubt their credibility.

There he is. Was wondering when you'd stop in. Main thing I am interested in is confirmation of size, especially screen size and overall physical size compared to note 2.

Especially curious about the frequencies (if it has 800Mhz as well as LTE Advance capability) and the ram.

It's pretty rugged yes...more rugged than any other phone in a good case...no not in my opinion. It can break and it can get wet.

So, for those Sprint folks that have been disappointed about the rumored 5.68-5.7 inch screen on the Note 3, at least Sprint will be offering the Galaxy Mega for you:

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 comes to US through AT&T, Sprint

For me personally, I wouldn't be comfortable with a bigger physical size than the current Note 2. That said, the newest rumor on the Note 3 has me eagerly anticipating the announcement in a couple weeks:

Samsung to ship Galaxy Note III from September, Galaxy Gear smartwatch from October | SamMobile

One of my main complaints on the Note 2 was not being able to purchase a 32gb or 64gb version. Same thing, when it comes to the Note 8. If the Note 3 will be released with 32gb minimum, I'll be extremely tempted to upgrade at full price.

Now, if Sprint ends up getting a 64gb version, I'll definitely buy at full price. No hesitation.

I'm approaching upgrade time in a couple months.

I'm in the "too big" camp as far as the Note goes, so I won't be going that direction.

Having said that, are there other rumored Sprint phones due out I might consider upgrading GS3 for?

Still liking my GS3, but I'm itching for something new.

In the same size range, the lg g2 is releasing soon. If you are happy with the s3, just wait for the s5, if you aren't itching to upgrade right away.

If you are itching to upgrade, then I'd just do a comparison between the S4, HTC One and G2, then go with whichever suits your needs the best. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of those choices.

If you're an accessory fiend, like I am, then the S4 will be the best choice (IMO), just do to their being more 3rd party accessory manufacturers willing to make products for it. The HTC One doesn't lack support, but definitely won't be as abundant as the S4. The G2 will be up in the air, but should still have a decent amount of support, but nowhere near as much as the S4 or One.

Not sure if this phone will actually be offered on Sprint, but I've been longing to get a chance to check out a Sony device through Sprint for a long time:

Sony officially teases Xperia Z1 (aka Honami, Xperia i1)

I really wish Sony cared more about expanding their mobile offerings across multiple providers. I think their devices are very underrated. Not sure how their mobile support is, but I've had great experience with their TV support in the past.

You know I would be all over the G2, I'm just concerned about

#1 No sd card

#2 Support?

I really like what I see with it, I just have serious reservations with those two issues.

As far as GS4 goes, if they release an Active version, I'm all over it.

Well, the Optimus G was really popular and the Nexus 4 got rave reviews (Which was based on the Optimus G). My take is it all depends on how popular the G2 becomes. If LG markets it properly, it could do for LG, what the S2 did for Samsung. The S2 is when Samsung really took off, as far as being able to increase their US support. Makes sense because more revenue opens up avenues they might not have been able to open up, like before. Now, they have that partnership with Best Buy to have the Samsung Experience boutiques in all the Best Buy locations. Those people aren't Best Buy employees, but the fact that Samsung is able to afford those types of ways to support US customers all stems from when their smartphones really started taking off.

Before the S2, Samsung support was absolutely awful in the US.

I can agree with this. I'd love to see a nice high end Sony device on Sprint. More variety, with the legs (specs) to stand on, would be beneficial to the free marketplace.

One thing that slightly concerns me is that I haven't seen Sony's OS skin/"launcher"/UI in action for like 2 years, I recall that I wasn't a very big fan of it though.

The biggest problem is that Sony has been stuck on the nearly exclusive GSM train, in the U.S. for quite a while, despite openly saying that they are not GSM exclusive.

Here's a Sony promo page from KDDI in Japan. I liked the videos.

BTW, Sharp is, once again, up to something with display technology, and this time it's about battery life.

The Sharp is using the newer Krait 300 CPUs.

I'm about sold on the G2. I don't game or watch movies, so I don't think storage will be an issue.

Finding a decent case might be hard, but I can live without that.

Going to wait until I see some real user experience first, but I'm excited about what I'm reading thus far.

Rumors are starting to come in about the Galaxy S5. 16 megapixel camera. I am sure Sprint will have this. I have an upgrade due Feb. This will be tempting.

Another GS5 rumor. If this proves to be true, it might be worth the wait to see what the Note 4 will be like.

Samsung Galaxy S5 to use metal chassis?

I'm pretty sure the rumors were that Samsung was trying to do it with the s4, but they didn't have enough time to make sure that it could produce enough for launch, so they tabled it for the S5.

For the Note 4, I'm really hoping that Samsung will be ready to release a flexible screen convertible phone/tablet. Otherwise, I'll just wait until they finally get that to production.

I was about ready to pull the trigger on the LG2.

However, if the GS5 is expected in early 2014 and I'm assuming it will be tri-band. I'll wait for it.

Phone Arena outed a road map of a few devices coming to Sprint today and I see that they even have a laptop on there, a Lenovo Thinkpad. interesting.

Yup Galaxy S5 rumors already starting. If those specs pan out then the Note 4 will be a sight to behold. But that's next year. This year I'm looking to get either the Note 3 or the next Nexus.

Do you think they will make a CDMA version of the Nexus 5? As far as the Note 3, I want one, but I can wait for the Note 4. I might be getting a Note 3 on my second line. But we will see.

I highly doubt that the next Nexus will be CDMA. It will be sold from the Playstore like the previous Nexus. Which is why I'll move to T-Mobile to get it if it meets my requirements. I'm hoping it will be based on the G2. 5.2inch screen with the buttons on the side.

I'm really starting to get excited for the Note3! M going to get one for my wife. She thinks she'll get the Note2, but I'll come home with the 3.

She's going to loose it!
