I'm wondering will the Sprint version be different than the European version?

According to this site, the GS2 was released May 1 2011 in the UK.

Yes that's why I said the Epic 4g Touch was released 4 1/2 months after the SGS 2 in Europe. Wasn't the E4GT released in late August or early September? That's what I seem to recall because the Photon was released 7/31, so it had to be at least 30 days after the Photon was released.

And since we're talking about Sprint phones, I just wanted to point out the timemframe from the European Samsung releases vs. the Sprint.

Reports are saying SGS 3 will only be a minor upgrade:
Android Rumors Report: RAZR HD to AT&T, Galaxy S III minor update, Tab 2 delay, Tegra 4 | Android and Me

That's kinda how I felt about the EVO 3D w/ exception to the processor and RAM.

That story originated from cnet. In other words it carries no weight. I stopped following that website long ago.

Yes, I believe you are right, it was September when the GS2 was released. I believe Sprint was the first U.S. carrier to get it.

Rumors suggest that Samsung is going for a global launch of the SGS3. I'll believe it when I see it. Either way, still going with the EVOLTE.

I could see that for the GSM carriers, but not necessarily the CDMA carriers. Plus, the US carriers always want to add their own proprietary b.s.

Been searching for leaks, but nothing since the last link I posted. I did find this though, that's projected (no pun intended) for ATT

Samsung Galaxy Beam hits the FCC, sporting AT&T Compatibility | AndroidSPIN

That's a cool concept.

Thanks for the update. I should be forgetting the Note and setting my sights on the EvoLte or the S3 but it was love at first sight with the Note's size.

Well we still have the L710 that passed wifi cert in Feb that no one knows what it is. People think it's an LTE Epic Touch, but they think that because of the model number. What they don't realize is that the Orginal Epic (D700) and Galaxy Nexus (L700) share the same number too but are completely different devices. I have my theory on what the L710 is..

Things are looking good for a Photon 2 (maybe under a different name, since it states the trademark is the Electrify Icon).

Motorola Mobility registers a handful of "Electrify Icon" domain names

Also in the first article, it mentions that Samsung trademarked the Galaxy Metrix, Velvet, & Legend.

Well it looks like the "Electrify" is simply the current Photon 4G from Sprint to be released on US Cellular. It doesn't look like a successor to the Photon 4G on Sprint, yet. I'm keeping fingers crossed.

The Electrify was released on US Cellular. The Electrify Icon is the successor to the Electrify. If the Electrify is getting a successor, no reason for us to believe Photon won't have one (even if they don't continue the name).

Was trying to figure that out, but the only thing in Sprint's lineup with the 300 model number is the M300...I know they aren't going to be releasing an LTE version of that phone lol. The Replenish is 580. The Conquer is 600. The Transform Ultra is 930....

The EVO 4G LTE is the Jet. I'm not sure why they responded with that.

Looks like I'm going to have a very, very difficult decision on which device to choose:

Motorola Photon 4G Sequel Tipped for Sprint

Motorola Photon LTE tipped as coming soon | Android Community

If the Photon Q LTE is thinner than the current Photon, but still keeps the kickstand, I'm already sold. On top of that, with the Atrix 3 rumors of following the Galaxy Nexus form factor (onscreen buttons only, no soft keys), that might be the final deciding factor for me between LTEvo and the MoPhoQ (hahahaha...love the new nickname, if the rumored name is right).

Camera quality matters to and Motorola has never been that good in that area. They are a no go for me.

Yeah, that's a good point Td. It was never a big issue for me and initially, I was happy with the Motorola camera quality, but in comparison to my cousin's EVO Shift, the clarity on the HTC camera was better (especially night pics). The video, however, on the Photon was phenomenal compared to the EVO shift. So, I gave it a 'bit of a toss up.

Overall, Motorola suited my needs much better than any other HTC device I've owned, so it's hard to get that out of my mind. They kill HTC as far as functionality of their accessories (IMO), so that was big for me. Despite the mixed reviews, I absolutely love the lapdock. I didn't think it'd play a factor, but just a couple weekends ago, I watched 2 movies on the way to Northern CA (5-6 hour drive) and my phone stayed charged, while the lapdock lasted long enough for both movies. The lapdock completely eliminated my need to drag my laptop with me on trips like that.

Wow so Sprint is really making a sequel to the Photon? Good job. I'm not a Motorola fan but the more choices, the better. I'm sure Drex is thrilled lol.

I'm hesitantly happy...at the same time, I love the specs of the LTEvo also. Like I said before...1st year that I'm not likely to be jumping on a pre-order, until I've seen the phones in person and played with both.

If they keep the kickstand, then it's going to be an even harder decision....LOL.

If the new Photon comes with a removable battery and a good camera, I might have a hard decision also. Or I might have to pay full price for one of these phones.

After reading CNET's take:

Sprint could have Motorola Photon 4G successor | Android Atlas - CNET Reviews

And also reading PC Magazine's article w/ comments from NVIDIA GM and 3Q 2012 seeing LTE phones w/ Tegra 3 processors:

Nvidia: 'Tegra 3+' and 'Tegra+LTE' Coming Soon | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

I'm convinced that the Q in MoPhoQ is for quad-core. Last year's MoPho was the 1st Tegra 2 device (and only, from what I remember...LOL), so why not? And 3Q 2012 just so happens to be in the same quarter that the MoPho was released last year (7/31/11), so it adds up. After all, we all know how much Sprint loves those "1st" marketing campaigns...HAHAHAHA.

Does anyone know why a device would be removed from the Wifi Certification listings? Up until a few days ago the SPH-L710 was there, but now it is gone. Some thought the 710 was the Note. Around the same time the SPH-L300 showed up in the Wifi cert. I wonder if the 710 is the 300 now??

Interesting.. So, sounds like they either got rid of one of the two, or changed the device number of the original?

Well if they device number changed...wouldn't that mean changes were made?

I would certainly think that... Either changes to an existing device or whole new device.

I'm starting to give up hope on a Note on Sprint. Might as well get hyped for a GNex or the S3 than a mythical phone that may never arrive

People on XDA still says its coming, even going as far as saying mid May-June timeframe.

Who knows, I would love to get it, but if they hadn't made any changes or upgrades I don't know if I could justify it with the GSIII being unveiled next week.

Now it looks like T-mobile is getting the Note. Maybe Sprint will give more info on it in CTIA. As for me, I already made my intentions on the next EVO and the GS3.
