I forgot about CTIA. Surely Sprint will make some announcement since the EVO is already announced.

Galaxy Note's general success tells me it will come to VZW, Sprint. And I agree it should be announced, in its current config, no later than May. A large-screen/S-Pen format will come, but if it is after May, it should have some h/w upgrade and ICS.

I don't get an upgrade until 2013 but I am definitely looking at a Galaxy Note type/sized (large sized HD Display Tablet/Phone Hybrid) device. I hope Sprint gets LTE in Phoenix and a Galaxy Note type device next year. Crossing my fingers! (and toes!)

This is the most recent info

This was info regarding sprint, prior to the rumors kinda slowing down.

Nothing really new there. They are making a lot of guesses. I say CTIA is the announcement.

Not really guesses. Here's another blog with the pic of the T-Mobile Galaxy Note
T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note Appears in the Wild! - 611Connect Blog | Cell Phone Reviews, New Cell Phones, Cell Phone How To

The guesses are all about what's going on with the early Sprint rumors, based on the Note randomly showing up on one of the Sprint adds and then disappearing.

Everything in the Sprint article is guess after guess after guess, that's what I was referring to.

I think Sprint may announce the new Photon at CTIA.

Yeah, that one was posted prior to the T-Mobile one. The guessing game is based on justifications why there's less talk about the Sprint one (e.g. anything from it being delayed, to bad rumor, to being held up due to T-Mobile's release of the Note).

Could be. That's a good time for them to announce (or at least more "rumors" to be talked about). Samsung will be announcing the SGS 3 (international version) next week, according to reports, so could be a good time for Googlrola to step on Samsung's thunder.

I'd hope that Motorola would step up their marketing efforts on their Sprint phone or phones. Last year seemed like a "feel-out" year, just to get an idea of how Motorola Android phones would do on the network. Hopefully, there were enough sales to making them even the playing field, with respect to their offerings against Samsung and HTC. That'd make decisions more difficult for some consumers, while at the same time, increasing viable choices for upgraders and new subsribers.

Since the Note will most likely get announced after the May 3rd GSIII event I am also going to guess the Note will receive a Droid Charge like upgrade, where it will receive parts from the GSIII but not be considered a GSIII product.

...or at least that's what I am going to cross my fingers for haha

Part of the issue with marketing the phones is that Sprint doesn't really have any extra cash to throw that way, which is why we rarely see commercials for Sprint, other than the unlimited data and flagship device commercials.

I really don't think that's going to happen lol. Maybe, get bumped up in specs but nothing major. I wouldnt be surprised if it gets launched at the same time as the Photon....yeah maybe I'm crazy thinking that lol.

Well that's what I mean. the Droid Charge got the Super Amoled + screen and the 8MP camera. I would be happy with a screen and camera upgrade.

Believe me, I completely understand the limitations behind Sprint. In the 1st Quarter of 2012 alone, they already showed a 83million+ loss compared to the same time last year. That's why I specifically mentioned the manufacturer, not Sprint. I deal with marketing folks all day long and they always come up with a "new" and "inventive" way to market product, while both "saving" money and helping "make" money. P&L can be fixed, if you have the right people at the helm. Majority of the manufacturers have to know that Sprint is at a disadvantage when it comes to marketing their phones (purely based on $), as compared to ATT & Verizon (and to a certain extent TMobile). One of the main ways Sprint can circumvent those cost is to ask the manufacturers to "package" marketing promotions and trailers, to help boost the sales of those product. There are a multitude of ways to put together packages that would be "win-win" for both Sprint and the manufacturers. That's where, it's clear that Sprint needs (and has needed for that matter) to overhaul their marketing division.

And if we isolate Motorola, which benefits greatly from their long term relationship with Verizon, last year was their first venture back into offering a "superphone" through Sprint. Prior to that, the biggest superphone that Motorola offered through Sprint was the Motorola Razr (which was already years after it had been selling on ATT & Verizon). Once the Motorola/Google merger is "formally" finalized, I'd imagine that Motorola could get a little extra to start helping promotions of their phones on the other providers. On Verizon, Motorola android phones are their biggest sellers and they get by far the biggest selection of Android devices from Motorola. Of course, the only reason Motorola would want to provide "package" deals to Sprint for their future phone promotions is if the market projections can determine that particular devices will sell more. That's another dilemma that comes into play, especially with Sprint's great relationship with HTC and Samsung over the years.

Any info on what the MoPho 2 might be like? I am currently leaning towards the EVO LTE,
but my current phone, the MoPho, has been great. So a MoPho 2 would be cool as well.

The only info that's been talked about is the leak from PocketNow saying that Sprint and Motorola are working on delivering a follow-up to the Photon that they currently dubbed the, "Motorola Photon Q LTE". So, based on that info, only "logical" assumptions are at bare minimum, the current specs that the MoPho has (memory and storage) w/ a LTE radio instead of Wimax.

There's speculation that the "Q" could stand for either Quad-core or Qwerty, but that's pure speculation. There's also speculation that it will be thinner than the current Photon w/ a bigger screen (just to follow in the pattern that other manufacturers are taking). More speculation that Motorola will go with the same type of battery as the Razr Maxx.

I mean, basically, majority of the information are "guesses." Until there's any formal announcement, it's all just rumor...but, it gives me hope that Sprint and Motorola really do feel there could be more success than what was achieved with the Photon and Admiral.

....well I'll probably give the EVO LTE a close look when it comes out. My OG EVO was a great, problem free device.

Compared to years in the past, I honestly think it'd be worth it to wait and see how all the devices are once they've all been released.

I loved my original evo. Didn't care for the 3vo, but liked the photon's specs. Ended up loving the Photon and Moto's accessories compared to htc. Now, I'm actually going to wait until a week or so before the sgs 3 is released b4 deciding.

Even though I'd never consider samsung in the past, it seems like they've turned the corner with phone support.

It's going to be hard deciding which phone to get since we no longer have yearly upgrades. Whatever phone you get, you will be stuck with for almost 2 years. As much as I like getting my phone on release date, I'm going to make myself wait this time. Battery life is very important to me so I need a great phone that will go the distance. I want the LTEvo, but I question the battery power compared to what is coming out. So I'm going to watch and wait.

I reaaaaaaally don't think there will much of a drastic change in battery tech within the next 8-10 months. Rest assured, the SGS3 and EVOLTE will definitely be the cream of the crop in terms of Sprint devices.

I'd be willing to bet money that the MoPhoQ ends up having a similar battery as the Razr Maxx. It'd be a disappointment if Sprint and Motorola don't go that route.

This is what I'm thinking too, that the new Photon will have a battery like the Razr Maxx

Only reason I'm anticipating it is because that's one of the main factors that has separated Motorola from the others (e.g. great signal and good battery life). Thing is, as successful a response that the Razr Maxx received for its 3300mah battery (or whatever size it is), I'm a little skeptical about Motorola wanting to go the same route with the Atrix 3 (ATT) and the MoPhoQ (Sprint), simply because of design & form factor w/ regards to incorporating that non-removable, bigger battery. The Razr Maxx set a precedent for a couple factors in the industry: 1) Having an ultra thin device, & 2) Incorporating a huge battery that was non-removable, but allowed people to use their devices non-stop without worrying about the battery going dead. I'm hoping that, the precedent is strong enough that it'll translate to all of the manufacturers' future devices. Not that I'm a big fan of "non-removable" batteries, but if it means heavy use in a 24 hour period without worrying about charging, I'd say it's worth it.

So far, that precedent somewhat translated to the HTC LTEvo w/ it's bigger, non-removable battery. It still remains to be seen if Samsung will be following suit and also if Motorola will keep that as their standard for all future devices. Regardless, I'm having fun looking at all the possibilities (although, it gets me a little anxious actually waiting...which is not something I like to do a lot...LOL).

I don't like waiting either, but I'm not going to jump on the first nice phone that pops up. I really would love a Nexus device, but no expandable memory won't work for me. I'm not a fan of Samsung, but they have really improved. I'm also having fun with this waiting game. I want to see all the reviews first. And then get a chance to handle them for myself. If I was going for just looks, it would be HTC all the way. But since I'm going to be stuck with this device for a while, I need it to work for my needs. I need it to last more than 4 to six hours when I'm out traveling and can't recharge my phone. Don't know how many times I've ran into that problem.

If I was going for just looks, it would be HTC all the way. But since I'm going to be stuck with this device for a while, I need it to work for my needs. I need it to last more than 4 to six hours when I'm out traveling and can't recharge my phone. Don't know how many times I've ran into that problem.
This is the first year that I'll be waiting until HTC, Motorola, and Samsung have released their phones. I'm planning on looking through all the video reviews, specs, etc...prior to making a decision. It's a very strange experience for me, as I've normally made my decisions pretty instantly (based on specs and overall needs).

The thing is, this year there are alot of beastly phones coming out and its going to be a real battle to decide which is best for you. For me, its between the EVO LTE and the GS3.

If there really isn't much difference in the phones as far as spec wise, then I will most likely go with HTC. I'm hoping that they will, or someone will, make a battery case for the phone. I know the Iphone has them. I can't see why anyone else would not make one HTC.

That's an advantage that Apple has with the iPhone. They have 1 proprietary design, so it benefits the 3rd party accessory manufacturers more to make a single accessory, since it'll work with all the iPhones.

With multiple manufacturers making different designs for Android phones...it would take too much time for them to make an accessory for the multitude of designs.

If the money is right, it could happen. I wouldn't be surprised if Seidio came out with something.

If this is the new S3, the One X easily beats it in the look department. Maybe the back might be more appealing, but the front is bleh so far.

It honestly reminds me of how the htc touch pro looked, from the front, when it came out. We'll see. I dunno how real it is. I don't believe anything truly until it's formally announced.

I still doubt that the new S3 will be any revolutionary device. We already have confirmation that the internal is just a slight upgrade.

LOL...nice find. Okay, so that answers that. That's why I never believe any of the leaks, realistically. It's fun to speculate, but I never hold any of the rumored information as 100% accurate, unless it was stated by Sprint or the Manufacturer.

I find all these rumors to be hilarious. Not once have we received any kind of information that holds weight outside of the "new SGS" device to have quad-core A9 arch-based internals.

Be that as it may - what in the world is Sprint going to announce at CTIA? With all these rumors flying around, I forgot there even was still CTIA coming up in a few weeks.

I forgot about CTIA also. Maybe Sprint will tell us more about the next Photon. Or maybe give us some information on their version of the GS3. Who knows? But it will be interesting to find out because Sprint has normally waited for this event to give us their flagship device.

It'll be fun to see, but at the same time, disappointing if there's nothing. Summer is usually Sprint's time to release their monsters for the year, so we'll see. They're not doing much better in obtaining new and keeping old customers.

Precisely. I kinda feel like CTIA is going to be a disappointment since all the big news has already been more or less announced. Only time will tell, I suppose.

So, I've been following the pre-release talk on the HTC EVO 4G LTE and someone posted the S4GRU article today about the pre-order and release date for the phone:

EVO LTE Pre-Order under way with ship dates as soon as May 15th - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

Interestingly enough, the actual release date for the LTEvo is not really what caught my eye. What caught my eye was their being given permission by their source to also release the document they were given that stated a later release date for the LTEvo and more importantly, the OTHER device that nobody seems to be talking about that's on the timeline below the LTEvo:

The device is listed as "NDA 105" w/ the same processor as LTEvo. The projected "lab exit" is 8/17. I wonder if this is the Sprint SGS 3 or possibly the Motorola Photon Q?

My guess would be Photon.

For those of you hoping for any announcement of the MoPhoQ at CTIA, apparently Motorola said they're not making any new phone announcements there:

So this year's CTIA might be a lackluster event.
