Default After 13 years I'm leaving sprint

Sprint has been pretty good with me up until now. I recently moved to the Chicago area. (April). Since I've moved I've had 10 dropped calls in April and 23 dropped calls in May. This is unacceptable. I use my cell also as my work phone and It's killing me professionally. Although, I hate to loose the reasonable prices, I would rather pay for working service.

Goodbye Sprint...

Sorry to hear that. Good luck out there!

However, it is most likely due to Network Vision upgrades in Chicago, which are moving at a very high pace in the Chicago market. According to S4GRU, there are a small handful of markets that are going to experience dropped calls as a result of the upgrades. (If my memory serves correct, its about 5 markets out of the whole country, and I believe it is those that have Motorola legacy equipment.)
Here is S4GRU's article on that: Sprint battling Network Vision deployment woes in the Windy City - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

Sorry to hear about your difficulties, Roddy. I am experiencing the same thing at the moment so I understand your frustration. I'm switching to Verizon ASAP after 10 years with Sprint.

Have a great day & I hope that you enjoy your new Carrier!

thanks everyone,

ArmageddonX, I'm also going to Verizon. I'm picking up a phone today. I'm going to test it out for a week. But I'm sure services will be better than Sprint. Sadly, I still feel loyalty to Sprint especially after all these years... However, I can't stay.

Have you contacted Sprint to explain your problem? I know there is not much they can do right now but maybe they could at least give you a time frame as to when things will get better. Which phone are you picking up from Verizon?

yes, I did. They stated network will have issues until August. But I can't wait until Aug. to have fully function phone.

I'm not sure what phone I will get. I'm sure it will be a LTE Android.

I'm on my 13th yr with Sprint as well. 3 years ago, I moved to a location that barely got a signal, both voice and 3G. I got them to give me an Airave, which basically uses your home broadband to give you cell signal. Fixed the issue. Lately, the airave has been acting up, so I called up Sprint. And after running a 3rd party network connectivity tool, they claim it's my ISP's problem. They told me to tell them that my broadband connection needs to be reconditioned for VOIP... I haven't had a chance to do this yet... And at the same time, I don't notice any slowness with my internet connection, up or down. So, I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to put up with the hoops I jump through to stay with Sprint.

Especially now that there's no more perks for long-time customers.

@novox77
I had an AirRave too and I share your sentiments. I had issues with my AirRave and it seemed a bit frustrating that I had to use one in the first place. I dropped the AirRave and got a land-lind.

Long-time customer benefits gone, no 3G or 4G in my Area, & with Verizon Family plans only $10 more a month (for my plan w/discounts)... my decision next year has been made an extremely easy one.

I have been very fortunate with Sprint in Tucson, as I have never had any dropped calls ever. I do however have some really slow data download speeds.

My data speeds are really bad lately, but I'm willing to stick with Sprint for now. I can't really afford to go to Verizon. I would love to go to T-mobile but I need a network that works in more places than T-mobile does. I hate seeing people leave Sprint, don't know why I feel that way, but people need to do what they got to do. I understand that.

Default Really upset

I've never posted on here but I browse this forum everyday. I must say my data as well as reception has progressively gotten worse since I got my 3vo a week after it came out. I'm talking up to 2 min to open a Web page sometimes. I'm experiencing a couple dropped calls every week. I live just outside of Philadelphia. It's getting to the point where I'm seriously considering paying more for better service after sticking with sprint since 98'. I have one more upgrade to use by October. I'm holding on in hopes that lte service will be in the Philly region by then. Otherwise I'm going to have to make a tough decision. I've never been able to use my phone inside of my house due to poor reception but it's so bad lately I'm just about ready to jump ship. Believe me this post can't begin to voice my frustration.

Oh yeah forgot to mention that I don't get 4th unless I'm in center city. So I've been paying an extra 10 bucks a month for the past year (previously with my evo shift) for some amazing speeds that I can't even benefit from.

Well I figured I would put in my 2 cents here, I don't defend any of the large networks carriers, but I can tell you this, I have had them all at one time in my life, and no matter which one you go to, you will have one issue or another, they all have their issues and areas where their service is better than others. If you check the Verizon section you will see many threads about this same very issue, members complaining about service from Verizon and their customer support. So the bottom line is usually depends on where you live, and researching the carriers that have the best coverage for that particular area, now grant you, service could be good for years in that area and then goes downhill, well that could be due to many factors, you changed your phone, which does not have good radio signal, they could of changed a tower in your proximity, another building or hardware was put up in your area that could be interfering and there could be many more other reasons and factors. Each end users location vary and are different.

This is what I would do before I were to change my carrier, as I have been in this position a few times and as we always see the grass as being greener on the other side, this is not always the case, I would either find someone that lives in my area and ask questions about there cell phone coverage, I would also try different carriers for a few weeks, and use the buyers remorse option, if their coverage was not any better. I would not be so quick to switch carriers, as I can tell you this, there will be somewhere else you will have an issue with if it is not your home or local area. If you read this thread a little you will see 2 members from the Phoenix area and yet one has no issues and the other drops calls, I would test other carriers before you switch and using the 30 policy by most. Just my 2 Cents for what it is worth.

FWIW, you have the option on roaming on the Verizon network with Sprint, Sprint's Roaming Contract with Verizon...

FYI, I'm also in the Chicago area.

Every test is on 3G.

Good to hear... Thanks for the update! Those are great 3G speeds. I understand that Chicago is one of the first markets Sprint is doing network upgrades in.. so, when LTE goes live, could you please give another update? Thanks again!
