I believe they are already rolling out their Vision network, at least here in Tennessee. Last weekend we went to Standing Stone State Park, which is way out in the boonies and was pleasantly surprised to find we actually got phone service as well as 3G. Our family members with AT& T had absolutely no service at all. I can't say about Verizon because no one who was there has them. I am very optimistic at this point about Sprint and as long as their phone plans remain unlimited and remain the least expensive then I will stay with them. Obviously you should consider coverage where you live but for my location, Sprint and Verizon are about even with Sprint being the least expensive.

See, this is unbelievable. Of course, wouldn't you know Sprint would go to LTE about the time I am getting great 4G coverage in my house! My friend Jen who works for Verizon and who has been trying to get me to switch can't get LTE inside my house. Meh...

I too have been looking at switching from Verizon to Sprint. I know AT&T does not have service downthere.

I am on Verizon. Yes, at Standing Stone I have great service. They have a tower in Livingston. They also have another up just NE of Byrdstown.

This area is the crux of my decision. Do you on Sprint have service North of there in the boondocks along Dale Hollow Lake. Specifically around the water near Easptort Doc up to Byrdstown?
I'm from Ohio with property there and absolutely love the area spending a good portion of my free time there.

Thoughts, experiences on Sprint in this area? I'm fully covered with a strong signal even in the basement with Verizon.

Hi! I replied to your PM but for the benefit of anyone else who might be interested, it has been a while since I've been to Dale Hollow but last time I was there I had good service. As for locally here in Middle Tennessee, I have also experienced good service and even get Wimax 4G inside my home. You will receive as many responses as there are people and places on the map so just in my experience I am very satisfied with Sprint. I have been with them for 9 years. I just hope that LTE will be as good (again, my experience) as Wimax has been.

Sprint is horrible. You would be a fool to go from Verizon to Sprint. They have horrible 3G data speeds. Sure 4G is usually pretty good if you have signal, but it is very spotty. It drops the signal often and doesnt have good building penetration. I would take Verizon LTE of Sprint 4G anyday. Sprint is supposedly rolling out LTE. It doesnt matter right now though. You will still need to buy a new phone. Stay away from Sprint. Atleast take a look at their forums. Filled with nothing but people who have slow data speeds, delayed texts, and service outages.

For pricing comparrison, if you get a "smartphone" it will be $80 before taxes and surcharges for 1 line. $150 for 2 lines. $190 for 3.

^ I just moved from Brownsville, TN to Chicago, I can tell you that in some spots I get BETTER coverage with Sprint than I had with Verizon...overall I'm happy with my decision, I rarely roam and I've noticed even over the past few months that I've gotten better service coverage...

My bill after the horrible IL taxes is approx 79$ and I have a bunch of the extra features that pushed my VZW bills to 95$ a month, for the almost 200$ I'm saving per year I can't complain, the service isn't bad and the CS people work with you which is what pushed me from VZW...VZW wanted me to continue paying for a phone that I couldn't use wouldn't even replace it for free as it was an insurance phone...now my parents are going through the same issues you just highlighted that Sprint has with Verizon, the data speeds are OK for my usage and that's the two things I care about...

I guess it truely does depend on the market though I was recently in middle of nowhere MO and I got coverage everywhere, cept when I went down this one road, and my VZW phone(which I still had turned on at the time) also didn't have signal...

As a long term Sprint customer, I can tell you we can't wait to get rid of all 5 phones that we have. Since the introduction of the I-phone last year, all of our service has gone down the tubes with our droids. One of my son's lives in CA and even he says most of the time, his phone doesn't even ring just as they don't here either.

I have contacted Sprint numerous times regarding this issue. They suggested some sort of airwave device for our home (that came with a 2 yr contract, I don't think so). I tried to explain that it's NOT just in our home that the phones aren't working. Four of them are the same phone, the one in CA is different. As well, the discount I was getting through my employer for Sprint has gone down about 5%? The discount with Verizon is still at 22%. I don't get it? The phones are really bad, the service even worse. I found out that it will cost me $50 to cancel each phone so this is what we are working on right now. The icing on the cake for me was when Sprint deleted my hubby's upgrade that he was due last November for no reason? Also, as a NEW Sprint customer, an I Phone cost is $199.99. If you are a CURRENT Sprint customer (of 10 yrs here) that same phone is $649!!!! Since my son was wanting an I-Phone...this issue blew us away. I even phoned and complained about it...Sprint's response.."sorry about your luck". Ok...so service works about 40% of the time, my discount has gone down, and I have to pay 3 times what a new customer would pay for a phone...PLUS my upgrade that was due was taken away. WAY TO GO Sprint....you have the best customer service I've ever seen.

We are all looking forward to actually having phones that work. I for one will be very happy.

2-yr upgrades weren't taken away. As for annual upgrades, you had the opportunity to contact Sprint for a limited time to preserve it, but you clearly never got that memo. If you aren't eligible for an upgrade, why would you think a phone would cost cheaper for you? It doesn't matter if you are a customer of 5, 10, 20, or 30 years. The costs are subsidized for new contracts/customers only. Each provider is the same in that respect. If you are this unhappy with the services provided, you should jump ship to another carrier that may suit your needs/wants better, but I doubt you'll find one that won't nickle and dime you all the same.

It would have done us no good to upgrade any phone last November...no service is still no service.

I'm willing to pay MORE for actually having service. We are going with Verizon and I am so happy. Maybe now I will have a phone that I can actually use and it rings. Wow, what a concept.

Well, that is a completely different story. Your complaints were primarily that you didn't get an upgrade and some other simple complaints. Not having service is a big deal. Do what you have to do.

No the airave is for the home use only! once it connects to yourinternet that is the only place it will work. You will have to call sprint and have them send a new signal to the box when you move...

My one question is can you bring it with you to give you signal no matter what part of the country you go to?

I guess you could. AFAIK, there are no regulations stating that you cannot take it with you. I just don't know why someone would want to do that. It takes time to gain signal, and who's gonna let you run that GPS cable through their house to the nearest window? Lol.
