Question Best phone for ST using ATT coverage?

What are some good phone to use on ST with my area having great coverage from ATT. I was going to go with T-Mobile using the Samsung Exhibit II, however, once I checked the coverage map on ATT I saw much better coverage. The phone needs to have a front facing camera. Thanks for the help.

What is your budget? I would look into getting a used phone. Perhaps a Galaxy S2, Samsung Infuse or HTC Inspire are all great phones.

I second the galaxy nexus. Great phone for $350 ($390 tax and shipped). Plus it's getting jelly bean in a couple weeks

Wish I could afford a GNex. Did the same thing you're doing and switched the Boost Warp for an ST AT&T sim on an Infuse. You'll be happy, better reception and data speeds.

The Nexus unfortunately did not work well for me. My wife wouldn't have anything to do with it. Got worse reception than her old Droid X on VZW (which is below par)

Sold it and bought a new S3. Night and day difference. The new S3 works as well as the HTC One X

Nexus vs. the S3 (in my area) using the exact same sim card from Straight Talk..............Nexus would never do HSPA+.............S3 does it all the time! Download speed average of 600 to 800 Kbps vs. 6 to 7 Mbps. Like i said.......night and day.

Having said that.................dam i loved that phone

I'm switching over to straight talk and planning to buy the new galaxy s3 pretty excited and hoping all goes well once I save up - att sells it for $550 while buying it unlocked is $800 plus - really glad straight talk can use att phones and their network!

Wish I liked the s3 but it just doesn't impress me when compared to the pure Google experience and specs of the nexus.

Default Samsung Galaxy Nexus sounds the best

Since the SGN is back on Google Play and for the price it seems the best phone to buy as long as one can afford it. For the long run, I am truly thinking of buying this phone and connecting with ATT SIM card via Straight Talk. Jelly Bean coming out so that is a major plus.

I'm interested in trying GSM Nexus on ST too. But your comment makes me weary. I believe GSM GNex has HSPA+ capability up to 21Mbps. But it doesn't work with AT&T network and you can get only HSPA? If so, I should reconsider that and probably go with GSIII which is much more costly.

Not sure what to tell you. The phone is indeed HSPA+ capable but for some reason would not work with my ST sim card. The same exact sim card in my S3 and it works 100%.
I was at work this morning. We have wifi there but the router is VERY bad......lol. I got close to 5 Mbps on wifi and check OTA and got 6.8Mbps...........too funny.
The VZW Nexus did not work around here either but seems to be a real keeper depending on your location

OK. thanks for your input. I hope other GSM GNex users on ST can chime in on this to confirm. I was strongly considering Gnex from Google Play for ST. But if it can't use HSPA+, that option is out for me.

This has me concerned. Any time I've checked since getting my Nexus and Straight Talk SIM, I've only seen HSDPA in my About/Status screen. Unfortunately I don't know what's "normal" for this area, though the AT&T coverage map shows "4G" blanketing my area. Any suggestions on where I can go in the 07728 area to verify that my device/SIM combination is working with HSPA+?

Default Gnex all the way

I just created an account just so I can post on the subject. I have had the galaxy nexus for almost a month and a half now. I can tell you, not only am I pulling 3-4 megabits per second, I have also never have less than 2 bars which means I'm definitely using all of a t and t's service. I just installed jelly bean 4.1 os about a week ago and it blows the s 3 out of the water. yes, s3 has better specs, but you have to remember the galaxy nexus is made by google. it will always receive updates first as soon as you go develop the new operating system. just go in and read how about s2 and see how long they waited for ICS. and you will see what I'm saying. right now the operating system needs to catch up to the hardware the fact that the nexus s and original galaxy s phones are you getting the update and running very similar is proof of that. right now this whole post was written talking to my phone through google now an application that is specifically design for jelly bean project butter which if everything goes as it did for the s 2 they will not be seeing an ok official update for months. it's even possible 5.0 will be released before the s3 even get 4.1 google now litterly runs better than siri. I ask it all kinds of questions and it accurately responds with an answer. the text to speech is not even close to the best feature on this phone. project butter makes this UI even faster than the iphone. such as switching between screens and its ability to stay under your finger and its instant response to opening apps. The biggest downfall is that it doesn't do punctuation marks hints all the run on sentences.

get this phone you'll be so much happier down the road.

That's good to hear.
How do we tell if it's on HSPA+ or HSPA? Does it show H or H+ icon for that on signal bar?

BLah
was so excited that ST was coming out with the galaxy s3. told my hubby that I wanted it for christmas etc. Now I am hearing of the Google nexus 4 and I'm interested in that phone.

I have two issues with the Nexus thoughs it plug and play do I just put the current sim i have in my zte merit and go...I don't do any dev I am a stock app user and internet browser only.

Also it worries me about the nexus not taking a sd card, I get it...its got 16gb internal mem...but I have lost soo many pictures due to phones crashing screens dying etc that I am afraid to not have the sd card to put the pics on...

SGS2 is 350
GN4 is 299

I have the ZTE merit and HATE it LOL they keyboard drives me crazy..not sure if that is the droid os 2.3 or if it is the responsiveness of the touch screeen??

Did the same thing and ultimately traded it for a S3. While the real estate on the screen is excellent, the parking space that phone needs in my pocket is noticeable as well as being a little too big for one hand use.

I sacrafice some size with the S3, but this is light as a feather compared to the Note and is one hand friendly.

Pros and Cons for both, comes down to personal preference.

P.S. You will note I don't use the Atrix anymore as identified previously, had 'rebooting' issues on both mine and my wife's after a few months. Got her a HTC Vivid, no complaints from her.
