Default Need solid advice Galaxy S3

I need really frank, candid opinion because ATT customer service is of little help. Now using an iPhone 4 on ATT. My ATT contract is up for renewal tomorrow. Everything I have is Apple/Mac.

If I upgrade to Galaxy S3, will it be compatible?

Is the cost of a plan like I have with the iPhone the same with the Galaxy?

Is the service 4g from ATT? Customer service doesn't know.

Will the Galaxy S3 be a good smartphone going forward for a couple of years?

Is ATT warranty worth the money?

What is "root?"

Thanks,

David

Like yourself I am new. But I just made the exact move you are considering. I have an iPhone 4 32gb. I been using since it first came out. I also have an ipad2. I just upgraded to the galaxy s3 one week ago and it's awsome.

You can download an app called " easy sync" from samsungs website. Put it on your Mac and the gs3. It will let backups on your iTunes sync to the gs3. Not apps of course but all the other media and contacts moved right over.

Yes you get 4g. It's same price as iPhone plan.

The gs3 is great man. It's different. But really sweet

I am not the best to explain rooting. But this forum has all the info. I was able to install clockwork mod and super user and try out some custom roms but I think you should just use the new device stock for a little while first.

Good luck!!

in a nutshell... Android's rooting is kinda equivalent to iOS's jail breaking.

check out the sticky thread for a more in depth explanation on rooting:
