AT&T GS3 Stuck at "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue." Screen

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I wasn't sure where to post, so I just chose this thread.

I had my GS3 connected to my computer and I was using Kies to download 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. I downloaded the firmware and then it was frozen at the "install screen." My phone had the "Downloading, do no remove from target." So I went into task manager and killed all the running Kies activities. I unplugged my phone and it went to a screen that said:

"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."

This is the problem. The screen will NOT go away. When I take out my battery and put it back in, I hold volume up+home button+power button to do a hard reset. Kies says to put my phone into recovery mode but I can't! It still takes me back to the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" screen.

I'm really at a loss at what to do here. I'm usually really good at this kind of stuff.

I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP.

Nick...plug it back in and let kies do its thing..then once it works never use kies again....that thing is a phone killer...

Thanks for the reply.

Right now my phone is at a phone repair store and they are having to re-flash the software for me. They are also putting on Jelly Bean for me.

In response to plugging my phone into Kies, to do an emergency restore, Kies told me to put my phone into recovery mode - which I couldn't. I couldn't get past that screen. I could go into download mode but not recovery mode.

Hoping this place can fix it for me though. Thanks for the response.

kies isnt recognizing it, its saying reconect, and i id several times, tried reboots, battery removal, recovery, download, it all brings me back to the ()firmware upgrade encountered an issue) im running jelly bean 4.2 on samsung galaxy s3, sphl710 sprint,

I had to bring mine to a nearby AT&T Device Support Center. They re flashed the current software available and that fixed the problem. I don't know if Sprint had any type of store like this, but I would see if you do. Also, if you rooted your phone they won't be able to help because it voids warranty.
