I'm in Canada, I used these settings (from an article on Lifehacker) and they worked for me in the default Mail app.

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

To those who managed to access Hotmail via the mail app, are you able to access your custom folders as well? I'm asking because I've setup filters to sort emails into folders I've created, but when I setup the mail app I could only see the defaults ones like Inbox, Junk, Sent etc.

Anybody have any luck in answering this? Not having the custom folders is a major problem for me. Cheers.

Can't speak for Hotmail ... but I had a problem at one time with Yahoo custom folders .... not all showing up ....

I deleted the account on my phone and then reset it up and gave it time to download all the info ... and been fine since

I was searching for an answer to this on google and stumbled across this thread...

I'm trying to set up my college email (username@mail.uc.edu).
I followed the instructions in this thread and got to the point where my phone now says "Username/password may be incorrect" instead of "cant connect to server". It uses the OutlookWebApp and doesn't give me the options to change my location, only my time zone. Before I couldnt connect to the server but after I changed timezones I got the sn/password error. Any ideas? :S

One more note: you cannot use special characters in your password or it will error out like eg2%#@$!

Thus I just default to the web interface instead.
