Talking Request: Dump of telnetd from G1? shell type access?

Hello Everyone

I'm a Dream user in Canada, and I know that telnetd doesn't ship with my unit. I have a some unix experience, and I'd be interested in telneting to my phone via my desktop.

When I shell into the phone (adb shell), I see there are several unix/linux commands (ie, top, netstat, ifconfig) and this makes me think I could technically run the telnetd deamon on my phone via the adb shell.

With this, I'm unable to find a copy of the telnetd daemon in the sdk (maybe I didn't look hard enough), thus I would like to request that someone dump a copy of the telnetd add from there phones..

I suspect the pull command would look something like...
adb pull /system/bin/telnetd c:\

Or is there a better way to "shell" into the phone, does an sshd exist for android? Thanks!

You'll want to be looking at RC29, when the telnetd bug was discovered and exploited to gain root access to Android. RC30 had the 'sploit patched.

yep, that's what I'm hoping for... an RC29 user to take a look and pull if they find it.

Thanks for the link but I can't work with this.. I don't want to risk flashing my phone to RC29 as the Canadian/Rogers vesion of the HTC Dream is different.
Is there a way I can extract files from "DREMAING.nbh"?
Edit: I just tried the nbextract.exe tool, but that resulted in a..

Error: 'DREAIMG.nbh' is not a valid .nbh file
Could not open 'tempfile.dbh'

Or if someone has a Dream with RC29, too possibliy shell into there phone and pull telnetd for me..

Doubt that anyone is running RC29 ..as it is only used to get you root .. and then you add on the subsequent builds you want with the latest features ... No other point to having RC29 ... except as point to start Root or to go back to Legit from root
