Default mobile G1 Android Problems in Brazil (HTC Brasil Vivo)

I just moved here from the US, and have a HTC Tmobile G1.

My new job uses Vivo, and am wondering how to setup my phone to work on that network. I unlocked the phone and it worked fine on all of the India/China networks (meaning I could use different international SIM cards without any loss of function) when I was traveling there, but when I insert a Vivo SIM, it asks for the "SIM network unlock PIN (or something similar to that)." When I try to enter a PIN it keeps saying that it is unsuccessful.

Does anyone know how I can get my phone to work on the Vivo network (in Sao Paulo)?

If I cannot get this to work, does anyone know which carriers would support my phone? Are there any android phones available in Brazil for the Vivo network, and if not are there any Android phones available in Brazil on any network?

I am willing to pay anyone for their time to assist me in setting this up. I am a Google / Android power user and really do not want to switch to a new platform!

Thanks!

Default It should work!

Hi there,

I dont know if you can make your phone work on Vivo, but I do know it can work on TIM.

Ive been using it for 3 weeks now and it works great.

I know that Vivo operates on a different frequency (850Mhz) for 2G phones but, as far as I know, their 3G network works on the same frequency as others.

If your phone is 3G and unlocked, it should work with Vivo.

But Im sure it will work with TIM because I use it.

And problaby OI and Claro will work too.

PS: This phone was not released in Brazil. Mine, for instance, is an unlocked T-mobile phone.

Default my Hero works OK on Vivo Sao Paulo

Hi, I've got an unlocked HTC Hero that a friend brought from Czech Republic. It is working great on the Sao Paulo VIVO network including the 3G connection, which I think it's the best in Brazil (I have tried Claro and Tim before). I live in Sao Paulo, I'm not sure but maybe if you live in other city Vivo may work under a different frequency. I know it happens to 3G, not sure about GSM.

Also I tried SIM cards from other operators and all of them worked in my Hero in Sao Paulo.

I hope it helps you to identify the problem.

Regards!

I bought an unlocked HTC Hero in England and have started using it here. The phone works fine, I can use internet over a wireless connection, but I cannot get the APN set up correctly. I am using Oi. Can you give me any advice? I am using exactly the APN details that the Oi SAC gave me. No one in any of the Oi stores is prepared to help. Obrigado.
