Default T-Mobile G2 Touch

Hi all,

I recently purchased this phone which is also known as the HTC Hero right?
I tried to download an app called whatsapp, as I used to own a BB I wanted that whole chat thing...anyway when I researched whatsapp, it said I need to be on firmware 2.1

My questions are, when I checked my phone's firware it reads 1.5 is this normal?

Also I can't check for updates, is this normal too?

And finally I know that this thread has be covered soooo many times but will the 2.1 be coming soon?

Thank you very much in advance

Ah yes. 2.1 is available but you'll have to update the 1.5 you already have to get it.

This link contains the download for the very last version of the T-Mobile G2 Touch (HTC Hero) for 1.5.

This you will need to download to a PC and flash your phone with it. Instructions are provided. This will completely wipe your phone but your SD card will be ok. Oh it'll take a good while to run.

When you have done that then your phone will detect an update which will download into your phone an add a couple of bits into the 1.5 you have just installed. When that's done then your phone will detect another update - this is the 2.1 update. It takes ages but it's worth it.

Have fun.

Hi heranaway
did you manage to update your phone? I've done the first bit, but nothing else has happened yet!

The T-Mobile G2 Touch is simply the HTC Hero with an identity crisis. Eager to follow in the footsteps of the G1 name, T-Mobile UK simply rebranded the HTC Hero as the T-Mobile G2 Touch. Interestingly enough, they initially officially tweeted that ... Read More
