Question USB file transfer Problems

I'm am able to attach/mount my HTC G2 with a USB cable to a PC (I've tried 3 so far) and I'm able to drag and drop, and copy and paste files and folders between the G2 and the PC's. I can see the file structure and can even open files on the G2from my PC while it is connected. It works just like a jump drive.

The problem is, when I disconnect the G2, the file structure is there, but all of the directories are empty. I've tried this on 3 different PCs and with different dismount routines - i.e. "Safely Remove Hardware" and "Turn off USB" to just pulling the cable. I'm Stumped!

Iím able to transfer files with a Bluetooth connection (slow) without a problem. Iím also able to transfer files via Dropbox over WiFiĖ cumbersome.
