Default Remotely viewing/sending text messages without functioning screen?

Hi all,
First, some background: I'm not a particularly tech-savvy person trying to do some tech-savvy stuff.
Today, my T-mobile G2's screen stopped working, only displaying black light. The backlights for the keyboard, buttons, trackpad, etc. all work still, and I still receive my calls and messages no problem, even the touch screen works (it just doesn't display anything, but if I can imagine what screen I'm on and touch where I know things are, I can launch them). I know people have had similar such problems and I called T-mobile, but they're refusing to replace mine because the factory warranty doesn't back it based on my serial number (whatever, I'm trying not to get worked up about that aspect).

The real question: Right now all I'm trying to do is view my text messages somehow, without my screen. Is there a way to view my texts on my unrooted G2 on my computer, through my gmail, etc.? I'm desperate here, since I'm trying to check/save these messages before I'm forced to do the factory reset
