As of yesterday, August 10th T-Mobile has said that the G2x update has finished the gingerbread OTA update. Funny, I got mine, it messed up downloading and I could never get it to start again. T-Mobile said "you didn't get it" do the LG Updater, geez thanks T-Mobile I don't have a windows computer.
Anyone else not get it? T-Mobile Completes G2x Gingerbread OTA Rollout, Manual Update Still Available
Whatever happened to the update being pulled like 10 days ago?
Nexus only for me from now on. lol
they just never make sense.
since i read and last posted on this thread i decided to manually update my phone through the LG website and it was a success so I'm now running gingerbread. god the camera is horrible though.
Yeah Nexus from now on for me too.
I finally sucked it up and went to work being on vacation right now and used my computer to do the LG updater which worked fine. Yeah the camera sucks I downloaded "Camera Advance" from the market, its a great camera replacement

I actually downloaded Camera Advance and wasn't a big fan of it. That's just me of course. I'm looking more for an application that will support the front facing camera as well. The front facing camera on the gingerbread update is grainy as hell.
Yeah dopejayoh I'm with you on pretty much any camera app. Non support the front camera and all save to the internal storage or the built in SD card. I want to save to my removable SD card which is was I'm using Camera Advance because it allows me to store anywhere. But I'm thinking of just sticking with the default because of the pain it is to jump back and forth to use the front and video camera.

It really is a pain. I, just like pretty much every other G2x owner, want the old camera back. That one was perfect. Another thing I don't like about the new camera is that as soon as you take a picture it just automatically saves it to the gallery. With the Froyo camera you could share, set as wallpaper, delete etc. right after you took the picture without having to go to the gallery. Am I making any sense? Lol.
My g2x is still running on froyo. I try software update check, and it says that my phone is up to date. Anyone help?
Same thing happened to me. All you have to do is update it through the update tool from LG's website. That's what I did and now my phone is running gingerbread
Thanks dopejayoh, but I'm going to have to complain to them for making me do it manually.
No problem. And trust me I did my share of complaining to T-Mobile because like you said, I had to do it manually. Uhm, if you're sending out an OTA and are saying you're done sending it out, why not make sure ALL G2x's have the update? All they could say was they don't have control over the OTA and can't push it to the device and what not.
This is why T-Mobile lost it's title for best customer care.
They're really going downhill.
Well, well, well. I went through the T-Mobile site to the LG site to get the updater, and it bricked my phone. Fortunately, between the warranty and the insurance, it's only gonna cost me $5, and I'll have a new phone tomorrow.
Of course, the big question now is whether I'll try it again. (Hey, maybe it'll come with gingerbread already....a guy can hope, right?)

Yep! Received it today, and it's got 2.3.3 installed. Netflix doesn't work (seems to be the case for a lot of G2X people), but so far, seems to be pretty good. Only had it a few hours, so I'm still setting it up, running everything, etc. Pleased so far.
