Default copying all files back to phone

So I lost my G2X in a cab this week and got a new one. It just so happens that a week ago I copied everything from my old phone onto my PC. Internal memory and SD card- they were called drives G and H. Did not do a backup just literally copy and pasted the drives to a folder. Now that I have to start over on this new phone Im having a hard figuring out how to get these files back over. I "pasted" every single file back to the new phone in the proper drives with no problems and when I rebooted the only new thing Im seeing on this phone is my pictures/video. When I did this I assumed i'd have my old phones twin- apps, bookmarks, texts, settings, etc. But I have nothing. Was I an idiot for thinking this was ever a good way to go or is there a magic button Im missing to unlock all this crap? Please tell me Im just technologically challenged and there is still hope for my sad empty new phone.
