So as the subject says I just got this phone.... It seems to be really fast...

What advantages will rooting give me? I don't think I need to install another mod right.. since this has 4.0 on it?

If I do decide to root, is it easy or do I risk damaging my phone?

Advantages would really be just Customs ROM's and what not, Other than that I wouldn't really bother, Probably would be 2% faster. As it's a brand new device i Would root it quite yet, I'd wait until it's a 1-1.5 year(s) old, by that time is will have gotten slower.. Have fun! i love my S3.. Best phone created..

im also interested in rooting the phone, but just for removing the bloatware. or is there any other way of doing so??

rooting is easy, use this guide. most straightforward way of doing it, fewest steps. just make sure you grab the T-Mobile image

rooting is the only way to remove bloatware, unfortunately

Yeah I agree the phone is pretty fast as is right now , if your gonna root don't do it for the seeped do it for the other benefits but keep in mind like anything it has its risks

I've had mine rooted for about a month (mostly to get rid of Bloat-ware), No problem or serious issue so far, But I am starting to suspect that the rooting process messes up the Kies software.

dude kies is a pos, i have owned 3 Samsung phones to day and it all depends on its mood sometimes it connects and most times is does not

You can disable all the bloatware without rooting. Just press and hold on an app in the app drawer and drag it to app info on the bottom, then you just have to select "Disable". The app will no longer run and will not be in your app drawer.

I don't see "Disable" as an option in the app info on the GS3.

I've heard that Samsung can tell if you;ve rooted your phone and it invalidates warranty?

If I do root, is there a way back if I ever need to return phone?

^^ using this method will not trip your flash counter (which is how samsung and t-mo can tell) and then you can download goo.manager from the play store and use that to install TWRP recovery if you want to flash custom roms, kernels, modems, etc. just remember that nothing you do directly on your phone (without the use of a computer) will not trip the counter. if you have installed TWRP recovery, you will not be able to install any OTA updates. to do this, you could just reflash the stock rooted image from the guide i posted. that will reinstall the stock recovery. flashing that will NOT erase anything on your phone. also if you want to warranty your phone, there are completely stock images on xda as well. i would factory reset, flash the stock image, and then factory reset again just before you send it off to make sure.

EDIT:is there an uninstall updates button? if so, i believe you need to do that before you can disable them

Will rooting the S III like this allow you to move apps to an external SD card using apps like App 2 SD without voiding the phone's warranty? My SD card is formatted but my S III currently doesn't recognize it in App 2 SD.
