Default firmware update on a rooted S3

Anybody experience this yet? Does it undo the root, etc.

I did the XDA CWM/ ODIN method.

The time I tried it, it appears the CWM program stops the update from installing.

My phone has never been able to connect with Kies.

Did you do OTA or through a direct/usb connection?

I suppose I'll give it another shot...

Is this the over-the-air update? A couple of days ago, my phone started prompting me to do an update, but I keep putting it off.

you need a stock recovery to get the ota, and yes, it will unroot your phone

Thanks.

Is there a way to turn off the annoying reminders for the OTA update then?

Strangely, it's stopped prompting me about the upgrade. Maybe I restarted my phone, but I haven't seen any of the annoying reminders for a couple of days. It still says Android version 4.0.4 under About device.
