Question AIM keeps shutting down

Is there a way to keep AIM from shutting down? I'm using the chat client that comes installed on the phone and it never seems to stay connected for more than an hour. It should keep me signed in until I sign off or power down the phone.

If the answer is that I need to DL a better chat app, suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Yes, the stock messenger apps will shut off every time you close them to go to the home screen. AND I think they count as SMS rather than data; at least I know my SMS count for December was insane.

I use Ebuddy, and I rather like it. A lot of people prefer Meebo, but I haven't used it.
