I noticed other device specific threads for posting your desktop and was wondering if we should start one here. I don't have a mytouch yet, but would love to see how people have customized theirs already.
great thread! =)
i've been debating between using adw or sticking with stock. i hate the myfaves button is the main reason for using adw. and it looks a little less organized.. can you guys help me pick one please? tia! (using adw) OR .. (using stock)

I like things really tidy. But I love your picture! I'm not using the task thingie right now...have about 5 different ones downloaded just can't decide what I like best. I like how yours is right there on the screen.
Anyway, here's my home page.
And one page to the left are all my apps in folders:
And one page to the right is my task bar, camcorder, and gallery. Nothing else yet. I like all the apps being in folders. I just got my phone last week so still seeing what I use the most. So far it's the items on the front page.
brinky: see my comment a few replies above. You don't have to be rooted to take screen shots. Just takes few extra steps.
I stand by my post. Why do i need to hook my phone up to a computer just to get a screen capture? Why in the world would google make it so hard to get a screen shot?

But thanks for providing a non-root solution.
Ok, I just wanted to clarify your comment. I agree about Google making things more difficult then they need to be.
I followed a link here on the forum to root it in less than 3 min, it can't be easier than that it's called something like Temp Root, but after that, I can enjoy rooted features ..lol Here are my screenshots captured using ShootMe App:
Actually the process of posting the pix on the forum takes a lot longer

Which one did you follow? My guide?
Yea the process of adding the image to the forums takes longer then actually doing the root/shootme process.

Actually you DON'T need root to take a snap shot of your home screen just download an app that doesn;t require it I know there are some as when I had my bh2 months ago before I lost it I was able to do it without root using an app I think it was called shootme.

okay so it depends on your device... but I thought I was in myTouch4G sub forum
Nah... actually its the old behold 2 sub forum, you must have accidentally walked in here by accident its okay though I forgive you carry on.
Jokes aside its possible there are other apps like that ya just gotta search far and wide. I don't get why oon some devices you need root it really doesn't make sense to me.
Friends and calendar widgets are from LauncherPro+
Smart Shortcuts and Launch-X Pro
? I downloaded the Launcher X free version and am wondering when you reboot the phone (actual reboot) do you loose the widgets? I loose that one and a battery widget (x2) I have to uninstall the application and reinstall then set up again. Then i can add the widget.

I used the free version for a while, but that was a long time ago when the app was first released. I don't remember ever losing the widgets, and I have rebooted my myTouch several times and not lost the widget at all.
Are you losing it so you have to remake it (re add shortcuts, etc) or do you just have to put it back on your homescreen? Are you using the stock launcher or a different one (I use LauncherPro+)?

I am using the stock one. I have to uninstall the whole thing under market/downloads then re-download it. Set everything back up. Exit to home then long press for shortcut and so forth. If i reboot once its done loading its says issue loading widget, So i long press again and to re apply and its not even listed however it is still installed.
I feel this may be a noob question. I just got my first smart phone. The mytouch 4g is sweet. I would love to change my desktop but dont seem to be able to do it with the stock apps. Is this something i need to download?

What is it your looking for? A new home style? Something like we have? Point us in the right direction and we will point you to the app.
basically all i want is some on my home page that shows me the time and date clearly, along with the weather. I dont want to have to click something to see this.
ALso im using my touch for wifi right now. I was able to walk all the way acorss my house and still have full internet connection. Loving this phone. I also messed around with sweeter house but it just ended up scaring me.

O okay... I am using the stock home that came with the phone. My current theme is Carrera. Then i added a few extra things that i seen here that i liked.
To get your CLEAR time, and weather hit menu, the + add to home, select widget, tap clock, click the right arrow 2 times and BAM there ya go. Hit select. The date is small but viewable.

1st: Main (I only use 3 screens and the other 2 are blank)
2nd: App Drawer

Hey breezy, do you have the drivers installed? They are preloaded onto the sd card or install pdanet and it will install everything you need. Another way to check if all is set up right would be, open a cmd prompt and cd to the tools folder (or platform-tools depending on what version of the sdk you have) in your sdk directory (example cd c:\androidsdk\tools). Then type adb devices in the cmd prompt. You should see "htc" followed by your serial number if you are all set up.
