Default My unlocked phone won't connect to internet. Please help! newbie

I just traded my at&t blackberry torch for a t-mobile mytouch 4g. After spending an hour on the phone with at&t they said they could switch my data plan over and it might take a while to provision. I still don't have internet but I can connect over wifi. Can someone help me step by step? I'm so lost this is my first android phone and I bought an unlocked version so AT&T is not trying to help me.

thanks after going into panic mode I scoured youtube and found a way to get the correct apn but it only is for the edge network. My question: Is that as good of a signal as I'm going to get with it being an unlocked phone?

yes, you took a tmobile phone and put on att--the frequencies are different--so edge is all you are going to get besides the wifi you mentioned
