t-Mobile myTouch 4G UNLOCKED - update Android OS?
I recently purchased an unlocked myTouch 4G. I am a Rogers Wireless customer (Canadian company) who used my SIM card to get the phone working for my provider. I have been reading about upcoming software upgrades for Android and I am currently on v2.2.1. Apparently there is an area on the phone to have it check for automatic updates somewhere in the "About Phone" menu; however I do not see it and I believe that may be related to the fact that I am using this t-mobile distributed phone on a different network.
Is there a later version of Android software available for my device? What can I do to upgrade my phone? Am I screwed for purchasing a carrier-specific phone to begin with? I am new to Android and have only heard terms such as "rooting" in passing so I have no understanding of anything related to what my options are.
Thank you for your patience with this newbie
