August 4th maintenance release...
Well it looks like finally there is a MR release that is going to stay being pushed out starting tomorrow...
My question is... Can some one post instructions on how to pull the update off the sd so that it can be hosted and manually loaded onto phone...
This would ber greatly appreciated..
Can't wait to have thee tmobile sync issue finally resolved on the wifes slide....
I just got a text message about this update (with a link to the t-mobile community forums). I thought it was funny how they made sure to say "this is not the 2.2 Froyo update".

You guys already got the update to download? does it come via text? Question, is this a firmware update? Everytime you do a system factory rest, do you need to reinstall this?

Well I'm glad for this update. The reason that I even installed adw, is because i didn't have any use for the faves gallery because it didn't work right and sync with facebook.
I tried downloading the facebook app, but that ended up taking 12 mb of space on my phone, thats a no no with out froyo.

Any one get the OTA update yet??
Can some one please please post the directions on how to pull this update off the sd card..
With this update you can't manually check for it...
So yeah basically you have to wait to receive the update and that could take until middle of the month..
Thanks to any one that can get the directions
And a big big thank you to whoever gets the update and pulls it for the rest of us!!!

i just received my slide today. (coming from bh2) i was under impression there was a built in app for facebook... because the demo model had a setup similar to the motoblur..
Question.. is that the app your talking about? or just an off the market one?

It is called friend stream.
It is a widget. Just longpress on a completely empty screen, go to widgets, find friendstream, and place widget option 1 of 2 onto the screen. TADA!
I just got the update at 6:00 am in southern Illinois. First thing I noticed was the TMo sync ran and stopped!!! It's about time, I'll play a bit before I go to bed ( I work nights) and see if theres any difference.
It will say a firmware upgrade is available and you choose to install or postpone. This is the first time I've gotten one myself, except for the small security fixes when I had the G1.

Beginning August 4, T-Mobile will send an over-the-air (OTA) update to myTouch 3G Slide customers, which will provide a number of benefits, including increased battery performance and enhancements to software features such as Faves Gallery and Genius Button. This is not an update to the Android operating system (i.e. This is not Froyo/Android version 2.2).
The update will be sent to customers beginning August 4 and we anticipate all customers will receive it by August 19. Customers will be notified of the OTA via a free SMS text message from T-Mobile.
The timeline for receiving the OTA cannot be expedited. T-Mobile will be unable to manually push the software to customers who ask to receive it before August 19.
Improvements included with this update are as follows:
1. Battery Life:
Updates to the T-Mobile online contact backup connection, which will improve battery life.
2. Wi-Fi:
Ability to send MMS messages when connected to Wi-Fi.
3. Genius Button improvements:
Ability to turn GPS on and off using your voice, such as “Turn GPS on.”
Will announce Caller ID for incoming voice calls and allow you to “Answer” or “Ignore” using your voice.
Will announce incoming text messages and allow you to “reply” with dictation.
4. Faves Gallery improvements:
The Faves icon will be displayed beside notifications that appear while the device is locked to indicate that the communication is coming from one of your Faves.
Fave photo display speed will be enhanced.
General stability will be improved, including more seamless scrolling and consistent display of photos.
